I think the grouchiness came from soreness yesterday (stomach muscles and an unrelated nerve pain in my leg). It comes and goes. Like, today I feel fine so kind of regret posting that. I am 33 and pretty healthy so I know I am possibly having an easier time than if someone twice my age got it. Everyone's experience is going to be different but my advice would be for anyone to take two weeks minimum to be on the safe side

This is my second comment on this but now I wish I'd taken two weeks. lol. I took off Wed-Mon. Wish I'd taken off two weeks because I'm currently Mrs. Grouchy at work.

I was out-patient and my surgery was last Wednesday I returned to work this Tuesday but only because I work in a office. If I had even a slightly active job I would have taken two weeks off. Today is day 8 post-op and my tummy muscles are very weak.

Just remember that this is a healing phase and not your life. Eventually you will be able to enjoy food again and even more importantly you can enjoy life more fully by being healthier and more active AND you'll probably live longer and have less things to worry about like diabetes. Good luck!

Curious About Post-Op Days
Texas90 replied to FlowerGirl44's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello. I just completed my first week post-op. Right after surgery I woke up in a LOT of pain and very stiff. As soon as I stood up I felt better so the first day I walked as much as I could. A family member set a timer and I'd sleep, timer would go off and I'd walk, and that went on all day. The next day I think I was a little more sore. I kept up the ritual with the timer. Surgery was on Wednesday and by Tuesday I returned to work. Right now it has been 8 days since my surgery and I actually feel great. I'd like to add that my BCBS wouldn't cover my surgery so we used secondary Surgery Plus and I wasn't able to stay at the hospital so I was an out patient. Please make sure you have someone with you to help you. I literally couldn't raise myself out of bed by myself. Best of luck!!! -
Bitter Skin?

So, my tastes have changed and NO it's not Covid. A strawberry protein drink I used to like pre-op now tastes like licorice post-op AND I stocked up on them so feel like I have to power through them. -
Does Eating really get easier?

I am 1 week po as of yesterday. I have been feeling the same! Two small sips of soup or protein drink are fine but three makes me feel sick. Today I am keeping Oikos Triple Zero Greek Yogurt at my desk and taking a couple SMALL bites every 30 mins or so. It has 15 grams of protein. I also fine it impossible to reach my protein goal and probably am only getting 30 IF that. But, this too shall pass. I'm down 18.6 lbs and wearing a shirt that was tight before so yay! lol
