    I can't decide

It is a big decision that only you can make. Do as much research as possible. I had the Lapband done November 2008, and have loved it. I lost 50 pounds and than my band slipped. Had intense heartburn, found out it was gastritis due to the band. With gastritis you throw up alot and so it is likely that if I have the band put back on, more than likely I will throw up and cause it to slip again. So I am now considering the bypass as well. My insurance don't cover the other WLS. The bypass has already been approved by my insurance I am just trying to decide if this is the best choice for me. Good luck!
  4. Usually surgery is needed to reposition the band. However I have heard that it could slip back into place after a complete unfill and some time on a liquid diet only. However I don't know if that completely fixes the problem because isn't the bad sutured onto the stomach? Not sure though.
  5. Well come to find out my band had slipped from all the throwing up I had did. The burning feeling ended up being some gastritis more than likely caused by the band. It makes you have acid reflux symptoms, chest pains and you throw up. Doctor put me on some ACiphex and Gaviscon. It has helped some. Definitely talk to your Doctor about the burning feeling just to be safe, it could be a sign of something serious.

    Totally frustrated and sad!

I think the first several months is all mind over matter and lots of will power. I think you will do just fine without a fill. So do what you think is best. Good Luck.

    UGH! Slippage!

I know exactly what you mean. My band has currently slipped and I am waiting on surgery.. It sucks to have to start all over again. Good luck!

Im so bummed out, my band has slipped!

Yes the Doctor said I would need surgery again. He did however let all the fluid out of my band and it was some major relief. But in the mean time I can eat whatever I want, I don't but I surely can. However I am now considering the Gastric Bypass. I have read alot about slips, and it seems like it will likely slip again. So I don't want to go through that again. And not to mention that my insurance will be running out in about 8 months. So Good luck to you and I hope it works out for you.

    symptoms of slippage

Two weeks ago I had a violent spell of vommitting and my band slipped from that. The next day I woke up feeling starving, a starving feeling I have not felt since before my surgery. I knew something was wrong, and throughout the day I felt as if I could eat anything, I didn't do it, but I certainly could have. I felt really uncomfortable but no major pain. Than I started throwing up again and ever since than I had major pain in my chest and under my ribs. I was miserable. I had to have an upper GI and an EGD to determine if my band had slipped. My surgery is tuesday to reposition my band. If you think there is something wrong, definitely go check it out.
  10. I just found out yesterday that my band has slipped. I am waiting for a call from my surgeon today to let me know what we need to do from here. I am so bummed out about this. I have lost 52 pounds so far since Nov 24 (band date). Anyways I was having some heartburn/reflux issues. Than I ate a piece of cheese and I PBd. Then I threw up very bad. The next day I could tell something was wrong. And so that is when it all started. I am a little worried because I have read that once you have a slip, you are prone to slips. Just needed to vent a little. I am feeling very down today.

Please help - don't know what is going on!

Thanks for the response. Will see what they tell me on Monday.
  12. I had posted this in post operation question but didnt get a response, so I will retry my luck. I had been feeling like I had a sour stomach for a few days but didn't think much of it. Then Monday night I ate a piece of cheese and it got stuck. Bad Stuck. I PB'ed for about 30 minutes. Longer than I ever have before. Than I threw up very bad. Now I am majorly burning in my esophagus, and it burns expecially when I drink Water. And I hurt in my port area. Now I am just noticing that I don't have any restriction. Very STrange. I had to go to my family doctor because my surgeon is 3 hours away. Due to a few issues with insurance and medical staff, the soonest I can get into do a barium swallow is Monday. But I am racking my brain trying to figure out what is wrong. Anyone experience anything like this or have any thoughts?:tongue2:
  13. I had my Lapband surgery in November 08 and couldn't be happier. I have lost 52 pounds to date. The past week I have been feeling like I have bit of a sour stomach. Kept wondering what it could be. And then last night I ate something and I PB'ed bad. It went on for 30 minutes. And then I actually threw up very bad. I hurt all last night. There is pressure on my chest, burning in my sternum and soreness where my port is. Today I feel the same, soreness by the port, and burning in my sternum area, especially when I drink something. I called the Dr and go see him this afternoon. Just wondering if anyone else experience this. I wonder what it could be?
  14. Yes I had the same problem and hit a major plateau, so I upped my calorie intake and made sure I ate very high protein foods. Protein is very important to your weight loss. Good Luck to you!!
  15. Well I had to do a 6 month diet as well and I think I was the exact same weight on my final weigh in and my first one. I started my 6 months, and lost a few and then gained a few. Got a little stressed out towards the end with having to take off time from work and paying copays at the doctor. I actually had quit. Then two and a half months later, I regretted quitting and went back to the doctor. She said she would use that weight as my final weight since it would have been if I had kept going. She said lets just submit it to your insurance and see what happens. I was shocked when my insurance approved it 3 weeks later. So I moaned and groaned the entire time, but in the end I was glad I was approved and banded. I love my band. Stick with it because it is soooo worth it.
