    Hello from georgia

Hello Stacey4158! Where are you having your surgery in Georgia?

    At my wits end!

Y'all, I don't know what to do. I am 2 years post op (as of Monday) and the first year I did great, dropped 60 pounds and 43 inches. Well, the 2nd year not only have I not lost anything but now I've gained 18 lbs! I have been filled and unfilled and filled again. I feel some restriction but not like i should (I have a 4.0 band and I'm at 3.6 cc's) and the doctor won't do another fill because he thinks i'm not losing because of my food choices, not amounts. I am literally working my tail off, exercising daily and keeping track of everything I put in my mouth. I am staying under 900 calories a day and the pounds still aren't coming off, at all! I don't know what to do, please help me. Am I completely alone in all of this or has someone else gone through this as well?

    At my wits end!

I've asked myself that a few times and I honestly think I am being honest. I either write down the information on the nutrition panel or I look it up on calorieking.com. Sometimes I even overestimate what I am eating to make sure I'm counting enough. I don't know what my problem is and it is very frustrating. My surgeon has told me numerous times that "the lap-band doesn't work for everyone" and then sympathetically smiles. Makes me want to sock him! I guess all I can do is keep trying, huh?

    At my wits end!

I work for the bariatric surgeon and have contact with the dietician daily. She says that I"m right on target with my calories. I am using fitday.com and making sure that I'm under 30% fat daily and it is not making a difference. Thanks for your reply, any thoughts are welcomed!

    What have you lost?

I have lost an elephants penis! I can't believe I just said that.

    Ladies with large chests...

Have y'all heard of the butterfly bras? They are the ones that seem to have two backstraps, one for shape and one for support. I haven't tried one yet but I've heard great things about them.

    Very frustrated

I can understand your frustration but there is always hope! I'm sure your doctor can reposition your band and everything will be great again. Don't give up!

i am staying on plan today because ...

I am staying on plan today because....I have been off plan for so long that I'm doing really, really bad! The only way to get losing again is to stay on plan!
  11. When I plateaued I increased my exercise and my protein and it helped. Also, you need to speak to your doctor about having a UGI or an x-ray to see what is happening with your stomach. Try to increase your fiber also to see if that helps. If your bariatric doctor is not being very helpful then find a primary care physician to see if they can be more sympathetic and helpful. And congratulations on your weight loss! Plateauing is normal so don't stress so much!

    Greek Yogurt???

Where can you find greek yogurt?
  13. Just tell your doctor that it was unplanned and if he is a good doctor he will respond warmly. Please be happy, some of us have been banded for a while and still aren't able to get pregnant. And I've heard of a lot of great exercises that pregnant women can do, some places even offer aerobics classes for expecting moms. Congratulations!!!

    can't tell I've had surgery

I'm a lapband patient that works for a bariatric surgeon and one thing that I've learned since working here is that a lot of the time the doctor wants to give you time to fully heal after surgery before doing the first fill. Try to keep in mind that you have had surgery and your body needs to heal, just try to make healthy food decisions.
  15. I'm a republican who voted for Bush. I am disappointed in the way his Presidency has gone but I will vote for McCain.
  16. Thank you so much for all of this great advice!! I have been banded for 2 years and the first year I did pretty well, losing 60 pounds, but the second year I have not lost an ounce! I know I'm snacking too much but it's from that darn head hunger that the lap band cannot seem to control, I guess that part is up to me! I have added carbs back into my diet and that seems to have slowed me up. I will take your advice and make sure to add Protein to every meal. Thanks again! Ami
  17. I am new to this forum and so far I've seen a lot of great advice. I am 2 years post op this month. The first year I did great but for some reason I have not lost any weight in the past year. I have been filled, unfilled, and then filled again and the only thing that has happened is I have gained weight! I've gained back around 15 pounds. My surgeon even told me the other day, "the lap band doesn't work for everyone", i guess that was his way of making me feel better??!?? I've started exercising, increasing my protein and cutting out any sugar and I'm still not losing! Anyone been through this and have advice?
  18. Thanks everybody for the well wishes and the advice. I just need to figure out a few things to get my band working for me again! I"ll you posted! Ami
  19. Hey! I"m in Southeast Ga so we are pretty close to each other. I had my lapband 2 years ago and I just joined this forum yesterday. Good luck with your surgery and know that you are making the right decision to get healthy at a young age.
  20. Nanook, why are you going to have to have it removed?

    Trouble in Paradise

I'm sorry to hear about the pain you are having. I have had ovarian cysts since I was a teenager, I've even had them rupture and I know how painful it can be. I honestly do not think it's related at all to the band, it's just bad timing. I hope you feel better soon!
  22. I am two years post op and never had an Upper GI or x-ray. I work for the surgeon and there are a lot of people who never have to have one either.

    getting discouraged

I am right there with ya! I am post surgery 2 years this month. The first year I lost 60 pounds and was doing great. The second year I have gained around 15 pounds. I have been filled and unfilled and filled again. I am trying everything I know how to do and I am still not losing.
