  1. Hi all Today i had my first fill. I had my surgery done 18 september. Its a 10cc and i had 5cc put in there..i cannot keep food down whatsoever and am sipping water very slowly. I had 3 bites of my omelette and it came right back up again. My surgeon suggested 4cc but i really wanted more because the last week ive got my appetite back..my weightloss has been great but the past week ive put on 2 kgs!! anyway just wanted to know if this is a normal reaction?? Thanks guys!
  2. Thanks emma I didnt know what restriction was until i had my first fill..its been 3 days since my first fill of 5cc and it was a shock to my system..no food whatsoever will go down, only fluids go down very slowly so im back on optifast,broths,beroocca,etc..in 8 weeks ill get a ml out..ive already lost 3 kilos since monday!! thanks for replying
  3. Hi All I was banded on the 18 September by Dr Dolan.I had followed the optifast religiously and since Since Sept 4, i have lost 12.5kilos. I have also been doing the liquids religiously since last night.Im finding this liquid phase extremely tedious. last night i sucked on a lolly but didnt chew it..is this bad? I have no side effects because it dissolved before it got to my stomach. Im also finding hard to drink more than 50mls. Does anyone know if the doc puts saline into your band when he does the op? Thanks all!!:scared2:
  4. Thank you, i still have another 38 to go so its still a long battle ahead. I lost 12.5 kilos since starting the optifast on 4 sept and i had my op on 18 sept so yes 20 days is how long it took me., mind you it was probaly all fluid. I can tell on my face and my clothes are a tiny bit looser but i dont think anyone else could tell.:seeya:
  5. I was banded 7 days ago and have lost 12.5 kgs since my pre-op diet which started 4 Sept. Im sick of the liquids, its only another week to go until i can start mushies. Apart from having liquids for the past 3 weeks, i have found it to be a positive experience. My recovery is going great and i cant praise Dr Kevin Dolan enough. He is a fantastic surgeon. You are doing great!! Keep it up!!goodluck!!
  6. U shouldnt be hard on yourself..u have lost 35 pounds!! a pat on the back..congratulations!! i think u look great

    Private Health Cover

Hi There I went for Medibanks first choice hospital level 1 no extras cover. I have another 4 months wait, it only seemed like yesterday i was looking at what cover to get, its gone so fast! Good Luck!!
  8. Thanks gus for the advise, i will pass it on her to her..its just a bit dismal for her cos its been delayed 3 times already and the one in May is still no guarantee..
  9. Hi All Im posting on behalf of my mother..after being on medibank for a year and being eligible in January 09 for the procedure my mother has been delayed her surgery. She has undergone all the tests, etc and all she was waiting for was the to get the lapband done by the surgeon. To cut a long story short, the surgeon has unfortunatly fallen ill and has asked my mother to wait until May and then he maybe able to do it then but no gaurantee..you can imagine how desperate my mother is after waiting over a year to get this done. She wants to get it done within the next month with the costs kept to a minumin with a good surgeon in Western Australia. Has anyone got any similiar stories or advice on the next step of what she shall do?:cursing:

    what hospital cover??

im expecting to be $1500-2000 out of pocket.$7000 seems to be so much, and if thats what im in for id rather just pay for the whole lap band op now instead of waiting another 10 months for my private cover to kick in.Im just wondering why are so many people on here out of pocket $4000++ when they have private health insurance? Why do some people pay about $2000 and others pay $7000 when they have private cover?i will email surgeon and ask for All the item numbers,he just gave me the one for the lap band..cheers guys for all ur advice!!:cool2:
