Hello everyone...I've been banded for just over a year. A few days ago, I got a root canal. They put me on penicillin and vicodan. These pills are HUGE, so I've been breaking them in half. I'm noticing, though, that it's becoming harder and harder for me to eat. I keep throwing up. I had a few cherry tomatoes and 2 small pieces of pineapple, and I threw it all up. Is it because of the medicine, maybe? Or maybe because I've been eating while laying down? Should I call my doctor? I'm not in pain...my band doesn't hurt. Thanks. :bored:

Too much fluid in band...feel like a failure.

Hello. I was banded on March 30th, 2009. I started out at 283 pounds. When I got on the scale this morning, it said 189.4. I got a fill last week because I realized I was starting to eat too much food. After my last fill, my meals were restricted ALOT. For breakfast, I'd have half of a bagel thin (about 55 calories) with cream cheese. I could only eat about 3-4 bites of food before I got full. 6-7 makes me throw up. So, obviously, it's time for me to get an unfill. But I feel like a failure...like I should just stick it out, so I can lose weight. I've also been feeling depressed lately. Has anyone gone through this? I've suffered from depression for over half of my life, but I feel like it's gotten worse. Maybe my meds aren't working anymore? Or maybe it's from lack of food? I'm tired of feeling sad. :blushing: -
I was banded on March 30th, 2009. I did the 10 day liquid diet after the surgery and graduated to the pureed stage. My first day on the pureed stage, I ate a small piece of fish (I'm allowed flaky white fish) and pureed squash. It's been 4 days since I graduated, and I'm able to eat more solid foods. I haven't been trying to test the band, because I've never vomited or anything like that. I'm not eating anything crunchy, but for easter today, I had a small piece of meatloaf (about 3 inches worth), half of a tiny baked potato and some asparagus. I've also been working out everyday. I don't like the Protein drinks, so I've been making sure to get enough protein through meats and veggies. I get full quickly and eat a fraction of what I used to eat. I feel fine...Am I doing everything right? Shouldn't I feel sick, or is my stomach just tolerating everything quicker? Since I'm not eating completely pureed foods, is this going to mess me up?

Pureed foods...Pass them up?
Winkiespleen replied to Winkiespleen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi LivinWithFaith/KY! The thing that helped me out with the liquid diet was to stay at home. I didn't have to go to work, so I was never tempted. I never got really hungry...Not physically. All of my hunger was head hunger. I was so tired of the Clear liquids and juices. I HATED the Protein shakes. If it's alright with your doctor, try having clear soups. My mother made tortilla Soup and drained all of the real food out of it, and I had the broth. As long as you flavor your broths, you'll stay satisfied. My head hunger sucks...I had DREAMS that I ate all of the pastries at a Starbucks pastry counter, and of gourging myself on pizza. This is normal, and you should expect to have these. Just keep having faith in yourself, and you'll make it through. :-) -
First post...Surgery on Monday, March 30th. :-)

Hi everyone! I'm a 26 year old woman from Texas, and I'm going in to get banded on Monday of next week. I'm excited, scared, and thankful to have gotten the opportunity to have this surgery. I'm single, and I figure that my twenties is the perfect age for me to start getting thinner. I think the bad (food getting stuck, not eating out as much) outweighs the good (being healthier, looking better). Does anyone remember the kinds of pain medication they were prescribed? Did you have to take a steroid? I'm kinda sensitive when it comes to pills. Do you have to take out all of your piercings when you have the surgery? (I've got alot of ear piercings....) Any advice?
