From everyone I have talked to , it seems like the first 3 days are the worst. Your body just went thru trauma and it's trying to figure things out. Rest and be comfortable ! Take it slow and you'll be fine.

So Confused and Upset Right Now
KathyLev replied to NickelChip's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I don't blame you for being mad ...I'd be steaming especially since you got no explanation. When the office is back open ,I'd just keep making tons of phone calls to EVERYONE . Someone has to know something. I hope you can find out what's going on. ((hugs)) -
Wow !!!! I can see you're doing the happy dance !!!! All that work is definately worth it - you're living proof !!! Congratulations on your new life

Since I'm having such a hard time losing weight, my PA suggested I try yoga. I've never done yoga . I always laughed at it saying people like tying themselves in knots ..LOL. Now I might have to look into it seriously. I would have to do gentle chair yoga as my 69 year old joints are pretty stiff. I looked at some U Tube videos, and it seems like easy stretches. Can you tell me what yoga can actually do for me? Does it help with weight loss? She also suggested strength training . In all honesty ,I've never been one to do "formal" exercises ... but I'm willing to try different things at this point .

Wednesday can't come soon enough. I hope you get some relief . -
Same here. It's sudden and you wonder "what did I do ? " My only suggestion is Miralax . One or two doses gets you going again.
-
I can relate to the "concrete" poo ,Summerseeker ! Protein is a stopper-upper for me . Miralax works wonders. Once you get the original "clog" gone , it's smooth sailing.

That proves you don't have to go to a fancy ( and expensive ! ) gym to get results ! I like the idea of doing stretches and exercises in short bursts instead of one session. I'm actually getting excited about exercising now I think my vaccuum is going to be my first workout partner today ..... gotta start off slow,ya know .....

Arabesque - you have great looking arms ! ( Thanks for the pic ! ) My arms are like flabby noodles - no strength at all. I keep telling myself I'll build up muscle this winter when I shovel snow ( ugh ) but I'd much rather be in a warm house with some music on and doing stretches ! I think I'll do some digging around in U tube and get myself set up with some beginner yoga/stretches now that I know what it's all about. I don't expect to lose weight doing it,but it'll keep my mind off of eating Thanks again ,Ladies - this is sure going to confuse my dogs !!!! LOL

WOW Chunk Cat ......I never knew ANY of that ! I guess no one ever explained it to me .When people say "yoga" I always picture the stick thin people on tv in crazy poses and wonder why they are torturing themselves. ...LOL You convinced me that I seriously might have to give it a try . Now that winter is here, my walking will really be decreased ,so that might be a good project to start on. Have you seen "Goat Yoga ? " ...I'll have Dog Yoga - they'll be thinking mom's rolling around wanting to play LOL ! Thank you so much for taking the time to explain all that to me - my old body appreciates it ((hugs))

Weight loss plateau so early?
KathyLev replied to Ssedmak's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Funny thing ---- I was all bummed out about my 3 month long stall - I even Gained 4 pounds when I saw my doc a couple days ago. I finally did something I was so scared to do ..... I took out the tape measure. I was seriously shaking when I measured myself for the first time. I lost a total of 15" since this whole program started ! I knew my clothes were loose - but 15 inches ? ! ? ! Wow ! In fact ...... I feel SO GOOD ,this is the going to be the first time in YEARS that I'm putting up a Christmas tree The hell with that scale LOL !!! My mental and physical health is better than it's been for years and I stopped focusing on that darn number ! -

Does your weight fluctuate for no reason ?
KathyLev posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I've been at a steady weight now for months. ( It's a darn stall ....gggrrrr ) I haven't weighed myself for weeks but today I stepped on the scale expecting to see the same number and I gained 4 pounds !! HUH ? I'm panicking . All these thoughts are running through my head "am I eating too much? am I not exercising enough? did I eat the wrong thing ? " I see my doctor on Monday and I'm embarrassed to show up with a weight gain . My first reaction is to starve myself till Monday ,but I know that's part of my old way of thinking when I was yo yo dieting. I'm wondering if your weight fluctuates for no reason. Is this a normal thing? -
How exciting !! You'll be fine. Take advantage of the expert care you'll get at the hospital & enjoy it while you can
-
Some things taste salty to me - like cheese . I mentioned that to my dietican and she said it happens to alot of people. I guess it's just another thing our bodies do to surprise us.
-
Congratulations !!!!! At first, time will seem to just drag with all the appointments - then suddenly , all the loose ends will be tied up and things will happen FAST !!!! I'm excited for you !!!! Keep up that enthusiasm

I think I have been blessed to be one of the lucky ones. I'm 6 months out and the hair loss is barely noticable. It's just slightly more than normal. I also have really thick hair - I get it thinned out with every haircut. I wonder if my vitamins have something to do with it . I take BariSlim and Caltrate. Whatever the case, I can live with this.

Messed up preop diet
KathyLev replied to hrichardson89's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's ok. I messed up mine, too and it was fine! -
I had my surgery in May . By July 1st I lost 13 pounds and then stopped. It's now Nov and I still haven't lost an ounce more. My dietician said she still considers me a success because my labs were perfect and I did drop 2 sizes ! I'm eating very low carb and high protein ,so I guess instead of getting lighter - I'm getting tighter ...LOL
