  1. ..... my husband's pet name for me is and always has been "Bunny". How fitting that I am a bunny bandster!

I didn't even think of it till you mentioned this my old roommate used to call me Honey Bunny it caught on with a few others... so much I wanted to get a picture/cartoon done like the Winne the Poo with a honey pot but a plumb round bunny instead of a bear......maybe it is meant to be....

  2. OK count me in.

I was 328 (ouch:w00t:) at my surgical consult, didn't do to well dropping until recently lost about 10 during the fall and then we started the 50 Million Pound Challenge a couple months ago. Now due to trying to keep off carbs presurgery I'm not following that but am following a little bit of a couple things and trying to keep the white carbs out.

Today I was 295 I wanted to be below 300 before surgery now lets see if I can get down to 290 by next Friday (surgery day). I think the 2 day Clear liquids before surgery and the stuff I have to drink the night before could make that goal a reality.

  3. Well, after a hiccup with whoever read my ekg all is a go for banding on the 7th. The idiot who read the ekg read flagged it so here I was excited about banding then nervous about the ole ticker. When I saw the cardiologist he literally laughed at was on the report. He said my ekg was great and gave me the clearance. Just got back from meeting with the dietician so all is a go. YIPEE

    lindasqd51:thumbup:

Yeah...I know how frustrating those hiccups can be even though my EKG looked good and teh Dr. listening to my heart and veins and all he wanted a stress test before he'd clear me. Dang just because I have 2 stints and had blockages before.....lol

Glad your ticker is OK and all systems are go....

  4. A lot of us are getting sick right before our surgery tis the season. I don't recall anything from my hospital pre-op that would have caused them to put off my surgery. I had a gallbladder ultrasound, chest x-ray, had to suck on this thing that I'm suppose to take to the hospital with me, blood test, ekg and spoke with a nurse about my meds, history...

I was really sick when I went for Cardio and Pluminary clearance and both passed me. Got over that jsut to get sick 2 weeks later 10 days before my surgery...taking antibiotics hoping they knock this out. Good luck take care of yourself and follow the rules of sinus/cold/alergy problems.

  5. OMG that is hilarious! Ok gotcha.

I dont think we have wheatbags here. At least I dont know about the natural heating pads. I do need to make sure and get myself a heating pad though.

YOu could probably find wheat bags at a store like Whole Foods or another natural foods/grocery or online. My former roommate mad me one years ago but the cats love is to much it's gotten a bit hairy and I don't know if it can be washed, guess it wouldn't hurt to try.

  6. ......the 'I'm mad as heck' one that was linked...

BG I agree, I've only spot read this thread but it looks like someone who wanted the band to do all the work. Thanks for all the info post it's really helpful.

    Now about me...lol....

No pre-op diet just watch carbs even though it's tuff I envy those of you who have a set pre-op plan. I was going to start cutting meals and adding protien drinks and came down with a allergy attack or sinus something so I'm nervous about not being able to have surgery I got a script today to take till the day before surgery hopefully that will knock this out.

I do however have a 2 day cleans diet...yeah one of the rules is no red or "grape" colored liquids...another is no dairy (the thought of making protien drinks with Water UGH)

broth has protien but not much...guess I'll mix vanilla with jello.....

Anyway I ramble sorry...so many thoughts and questions seems like it took forever and now it's here..just 9 days away.

  7. Good idea on the sleeping mask for the hospital. I plan to pack light for my overnight stay, MP3 player maybe Nitendo DS, a book, pillow, slippers and lounge pants or sweats (these I plan to ware to the hospital at the hospital and on the way home), pillow, BiPAP machine that I never use, beathing thing respatory gave me. Oh and lip balm that eveyone seems to need.

  8. What's everyone been getting to prepare for first weeks after surgery?

I've slowley been getting things together. This weekend was a big one.

    Gas-X

    Flintstone Complete chewable

    Calcium - Chewable

    liquid B Complex

    liquid Tylenol

    Groceries

Family Size Soup - Cream Chix, Cream Mush, Tomato

    Protien drinks

    SF Jello

    SF Popcicles

    broth

    V8

Roast and chicken for my other half to eat on

I must be missing something seemed like much more, at least when I paid for it.....lol

  9. I've heard gallbladder surger is a great excuse if you don't want to say you're goin in for the band. I think it's done laproscopically as well... And they'll never really know!

Only problem with that is I have to go back and get my gallbladder out later I hope to do it this year while my out of pocket is taken care of.

I told my sup and 2 close friends at work from almost day one my sup is over weight and we discuss this stuff all the time. After my surgery was scheduled I told the other couple of people in my area, and all the people in the cubss next to ours know from overhearing me talk to insurance and the Dr's. The problem is controlling who my other half tells....lol

  10. To start with I decided to go to the weight I was at 9 years ago when I was feeling good about myself, able to get dates and met my other half (220). This is still well over the "ideal" medical weight after I reach that goal I will probably work on going lower the lightest I've been in my adult life is 184 that was when I got out of basic training in 1981. If I ever make that I may consider the "ideal" weight but have learned to make small goals. Right now I want to be below 300 before my surgery in what 12 days. I keep going from 301 to 300 and back to 301 of course the last few days I've had major last meal syndrome.

  11. My surgery is scheduled for April 10th and I too have been dealing with last meal syndrome. I was kind of shocked to step on the scale today and see I still lost a pound. I'm set tomorrrow to start a diet my surgeon gave me during inital consultation I'm going to do that for a week then Meal Replacements for 2 meals and one low fat low carb meal (I hope). Then to Clear Liquids Wed and Thur before my surgery on Friday 4/10. Good luck guys:thumbup:

  12. I think it'd be really hard to have/host/attend a family dinner near surgery. Heck I typically host thanksgiving and I am taking this year off and that is about 7 months out from surgery.

I wonder if I will ever be strong enough to not weigh every day. I only record it on fridays but every morning after I pee there I stand in all my nekkid glory on the scale hoping it's lower than the day before lol!!

I thought I was the only one like that every morning.....:crying:

  13. Hopefully I got over the last hurdle my surgery is scheduled for April 10th but the cardiologist wouldn't signoff till I had a stress test. I completed teh stress test yesterday but don't know the results. He didn't think it would be an issue but because of previous issues wanted to be sure. :cursing:

I guess all these clearances keep us busy while we wait for surgery day. Still trying to work on getting a few more pounds off and trying to get moving more before surgery.

Two weeks and a day to go.:)
