  1. JayTee, congrats on already losing 38lbs! How'd you do it?

So I'm hungry tonight :cool2: That must be a good sign. Still lots of gas, but I can tell the difference between hunger and pain.

I lost a lot of weight dong the 50 Million Pound Challenge meal plan then started cutting carbs a few weeks before my surgery then went to 2 protien shakes and one meal a day starting the Sunday before my surgery and then finally 2 days before my surgery I was on clear liquids for 2 days befor my surgery. All was good thne this evening I stepped on the scale and was up I guess rom the air and fluids over the past 2 days.

I mostly had ice chips at the hospital got Water about 30 minutes before the Dr. released me. Had a glass of water, 1/2 cup of chicken broth and some white grape juice since I've been home.

  2. Glad to hear everyone is well amd that you were able to be banded JersyGirl. I've had very little gas pain so far but my belly is a bit sore even though I have this on Q thing. My belly looks like a warner borthers cartoon I have bandaids every where 9 incisions I recouted after my first post. Glad to be home and not much hunger either I've had a fudgecicle and almost a glass of Water. I guess I've got restriction already due to having a small band so as I understand I'm on Clear Liquids for 2 weeks. I'll double check next week when the nutritinoist calls. I was suppose to have home health care to help me with shots but all in my area are booked according to the hospital. All in all doing well so far.

  3. Well I'm home and it's done and yes I'm questioning my decision at this time. My Dr used as he put it a small band on a big guy he's found more issues using the larger band so I'm tighter I guess than some/many/moat. If I heard him correctly I think I'm on clear liquids for 2 more weeks nothing wiht sugar and no fizz so I guess I'm allowed broth and tea.

We got the the hospital at 5:25am checked in and I got called back about 6am about 6:30 they started preping me. I met a lot of people nurses and the guy wiht the good stuff that makes you not care I was ready for surgery by 7:30am (scheduled time) surgeon rolls in about 8am tells me I can change my mind and not have the surgery, change my surgery to bypass, or change to another surgeon I chose none of the above.

Tehy finally wheeled me to surgery I remmber getting on the bed and asking about the anastisia and was told I got it as I roled through the door....that is the last thing i remembered till there was a lot going on around me and I said I had to pee and was told to go ahead, I had a cath:scared2: they drained me and removed it thank goodness I was asleep when it was put in and still to grogy when it was removed. I guess I asked about incisions and was suprised when they told me I had 9 yes 9.

After fussing wiht my Cpap machine and deciding it really wasn't helping and a few other things I was moved up to my room with a cup of ice thank god for that little cup of ice.

My nurses were good getting up was so much work unplug O2 sensor, compresion things IV's I only got up 4 times during my stay. This morning I went to Xray had the swallow test drank the chalk to quickly it went down but slowly. The surgeon arrived not long after that and released me. Never got my hospitla tray of broth and Jello.

Dropped of my scripts on the way home got home and got soe liquid tylenol, a fudgcicle and a glass of Water. My mouth feels like it has a camel trud in it no matter what I do.

Just a bit sore now only have 8 incisions, when I asked about so many I was told that sometimes they just go in at the wrong sopt. They are covered with bandaids not sure which one is the port a little tender but not to bad I have a ball and chain around my neck with pain reliver that goes directly to my sites.

All in all feel OK but wonder what the heck have I done.

Oh and at the hospital I weighed in at 282 back in October at the consultation I was 328.

Sorry about all the typos my best to everyone.

  4. I can't believe it's nearly hear tomorrow morning have to be at the hospital at 5:30am ofr 7:30 surgery. I'm not so much scared of the surgery as I am the rest of my life with the band. I didn't get to have a last waffle at Waffle House, didn't get fairwell sushi...so much I have left to do..... oh well my other half is so supportive well going to bed catchup with everyone in a couple days. Good Luck to everyone having surgery tomorrow with me and for the next couple days.

  5. I leave early in the morning for surgery so I'm posting tonight. I've been on 2 protien shakes and one meal a day since Sunday and for the last 2 days (Wed and Thur) I've been on Clear Liquids and had to drink stuff to help clean things out but I'm at 288 so far tonight. I see LingLing's spread sheet has a high weight column at my surgical consult in October I was 328.

  6. Before time gets away from me, I want to send best wishes for a great day tommorow to

    Pdburch, jaytee562 and sdeale0928.

Hope all goes well for "everyone".

Wait someone is missing from this list aren't there 4 of us tomorrow......:)

Oh it's Jerseygirl good luck Good Friday Banders I hope everyone sleeps well and tonight and surgery goes well.

I got my crap mask so I'll be legal tomorrow just realized that the stuff I was to drink to clean things out was red and I'm not suppose to have red or grape colored food...oops

  7. .....

About the CPAP (I call it the CRAP mask) -

I had the 2 sleep studies and was urged to get the contraption.

Apparently my surgeon refuses to allow surgery unless you bring the CRAP paraphernalia (if you've been prescribed of course)

    .....

It's still sitting high on my closet shelf - unopened.

I guess I'll have to use it at least once before surgery day and see how the thing works.

Jeesh! - I really hate that thing.

    ........

Pulled mine out from under the night stand lastnight to find that the mask is missing I did finally get a Dr. to do a script I just hope my new insurance will pay for it. I thought about showing up giving what I had and acting suprised :glare: when they found no mask but was afrade they'd check b4 surgery and cancel me. Now I gotta go pickup the new mask at a different place than I got the machine before Friday I may take tomorrow off......

  8. Well tomorrow I start my 2 day clear liquid prep diet to clean thing out if you know what I mean. Nothing but Jello, Diet 7up and broth till 7:30pm Thursday then a 12 hour fast then report for surgery 5:30 Friday morning.

I finally pulled my BiPAP macine out that I haven't uned in nearly 2 years and found no maks in the kit, I have no idea what I did with it. Oh well guess they will come up with one at the hospital.

Still not sure about working on Thursday I may take the day off just for the heck of it my projects are all clear only have a couple small things to work on I'msure I'll be miserable.

  9. One of the last co-workers I told was asking a bit about the band I told her that it goes on empty and slowly gets filled....

Then mentioned that I'd lost 36lbs since October in preparation (most of it in the last couple months) she looked at me and said.....OH!? I don't see it....... I ain't telling now one else...next person that ask why I'm going to be out I'm using the female surgery excuse......:(

  10. Thought I'd start this thread so that we could share what we are making for our liquid or mushies phases. I know there is food/recipe info elsewhere on the board but I get tired of looking through it. Here is a spot in our own little corner of the board where we can tell each other interesting things we are doing wth our food.< /p>

  11. I’ve been using one I got from Wal-Mart Body Fortress whey Protein. I’ve been mixing it with about 1/3 to ½ cup of milk and SF/FF instant pudding (a little over a teaspoon) I’ve also done it with frozen fruit. I got some ready to drink EAS products AdvantEDGE (carb control) and Myaplex (sp) Lite I don’t care too much for these but they work as something to take to work. Tomorrow is my last day of sudo real food Wednesday I start my 2 day clear liquid preop cleanse……

  12. Thank you for the reply... I think the doc I went to is wack. but I have went to another one to and he said I should have the big one to... and for me NO WAY... Maybe its just cause this is because for them they do more of the full bypass.. So does anyone have any advie on a Doctor in Des Moines Iowa? I am going to go the weight loss surgical center and check them out since that is all they do is lapbands! Please if anyone has any advice please let me know..

Oh and my BMI is in the low 50's so if people in 60 BMI are getting done why cant I?

How did you find these Dr's recommendation, referral.....?

Have you talked to your primary Dr. about this ask him or her if they have a recommendation. That's how I found my surgeon didn't even think of him but he's the only one my DR. sends people to and he's great I know Firday he will do a good job.

  13. Not quite to that extent but I do try to imagine what it would/will be like not to have a big belly or be flabby in certian areas. I've always been big teh lightest I've been in my adult life was 184 in basic training when I was 18 and one of my instructors still called me fatboy. A few years ago I was down to 220 and felt pretty good about myself and hope to get below that.

I think we all get this image once in a while where we see ourselves thin very quickly.

  14. How's your insurance if you have urgent care coverage I'd go today and be sure to let the doc know that you are having surgery and don't want to be sick or it will get canceled. They were very understanding I went Wednesday got antibiotics and was feeling better b Friday today nearl gone. I had sinusitis but it's worth trying for a flu Good Luck.

  15. I'm scared of waking up after surgery and not having the band due to some complication. As many have mentioned failure. Not properly following directions. Equipment failure......

Oh how about this - TAKING CONTROL..... I'm afraid of having the tool to take control of my weight.
