It's suprising how easy it gets (so far). I've been cooking for another person and would usually pick as I cook and even though it's crossed my mind I easily let it go. I'm still failry recent but haven't relly been that hungry to eat anything. I thought after surgery and the next morning waiting till my swallow test not eating would be difficult I ended up leaveing the hospital before I even got a tray. Today is the first day I would say I was hungry think I'll go have a popcicle.

Glad to hear you gusy are doing well I'm one week tomorrow and feel pretty good some pain in my stables but othr than that not to bad. I'm taking pain medication only when I want to lay down or some Tylonel liquid if I leave the house. Just started getting more Protein yesterday I'm still on Clear Liquids.< /p>

I didn't like the idea of being rerouted inside. The band can be removed or redone if there are issues once bypassed it's done. I feel there are fewer risk.

My 2 things were waffles and sushi I didn't have either right before my surgery and both are risky foods post-op. You will get through this remember it's only a few weeks and then we can start adding in our favorite foods and see what works. Good luck tomorrow.

I too haven't been very hungry and DR. messed up my plans for Protein Shakes when he said Clear Liquids till I see him post-op. I've been eating a cup of broth, a couple SF popcicles and a bit of Jello. I went to GNC today and got some Isopure Zero Carb Alpine Punch it mixes well with Water where I went had it on sale it doesn't taste bad but a little sweet.

Yes totaly felt that way a few days before surgery I was seriously reconsidering but it's been a long haul. The Dr. even gives you a chance to not do right before you get wheeled into surgery. And I was really wondering if I did the right thing the couple days after my surgery. Now I'm sure it's right. Feel good not hurting much at all I'm doing some things around the house funny thing is I'm cooking for others and I almost want to pick like I would have before but tell myslef - self don't grab that little sliver of really browned ham off the skillet that was to small to serve. It's a good thing and I'm happy I continued down the road.

JayTee, it is funny you should say that. I work in the hospital where I am having my surgery Thursday. it was not covered under our insurance until the physician went to the president and told him that if he was going to do this surgery at the hospital there was no way they could deny the employees. So starting Jan 1 2009 it is covered for us. So far we have had quite a few people that have either had the surgery or are in the process. So I am extremely grateful for what my surgeon did for us.I remembered your story in the back of my mind but didn't knw where I had heard it. Glad you had a surgeon go to bat for the staff and enable you to make this leap.

Me? I got banded on 4/10 I'm getting enough Water but not enough Protein. I prepared for Protein shakes after surgery but I'm on Clear Liquids so I have to go find a protein that will work with or is clear liquid heading to GNC tomorrow. But really haven't felt like much more than what I described having.

The nurse from my insurance company called today to see how I was doing ended up talking to 2 of them one has more experience wiht band paitents. She said I should be taking 2 Gas-X's about every 4 hours. I haven't had to much gas pain so I've only taken them when I felt like I needed one.

phnery Dr. Shina did my surgery on 4/10 and so far I'm happy. I see him on 4/21 for my followup and will get to know him better then for after care.
I was pleasently suprised by Suburban's care I'd never been there before hte Bariatric Unit has rooms on the 7th floor and they are private without the cost as I understand you will be put up there provided there is room and you don't have anything that would cause you to be in ICU or CCU. I got to the surgery center at 5:30 am pre-op started about 6:30 the staff there was very nice. All in all a good experience. Good Luck let me know if you have any further questions.

I'm so bad at getting on the scale and get frustrated when I think of what I've put in and what the scale reflects.

JT & Kimber- are you feeling any better?I'm doing good today but taking it very easy. I haven't had much problems with gas pains at least not in the shoulder like most people report.
I took a real shower and got out a bit yesterday but started feeling a bit lightheaded not sure if it was the store I was in warehouse furniture place kind of dark and very narrow paths it may have caused something to be off. Went to another store and didn't feel as bad but after those two went home.
Still not eating much but feel like I ate a whole ham I guess that's the gas in my belly. I'm getting quite a bit of Water in maybe drinking it to fast. I've been having a cup of broth and a couple popcicles a day had Jello last night. Love this clear liquid diet haven't had diet coke since last Tuesday and no carbonated drink since last Thursday (day before surgery) haven't missed them yet.
Planning to go to GNC tomorrow it's gray here today so don't have much desire to get out but moving aroudn the house a lot.

One of my nurses while in the hospital told me someting intresting she said tht she'd get the surgery if they covered it. I wonder if some negative reaction is because some in the medical field who need it can't get it.

Doc told me clear liquids until I see him for my 2 week follow-up disappointing because I was lookiing forward to the creamed and Tomato Soups and some Protein Shakes. I've been having some broth, popcicles, fudgecicles (propably cheating but need the creamy texture) and Water I made some Jello that will probably be dinner. I'm going to double check with the nutrionist when she calls to make sure I didn't misunderstand but he clearly said no Soup till follow-up I would figure that meant tomato and cream of....

Are they having you do a treadmill test mine was a PET Stress Test and it was all done chemically while I laid in the camera took about an hour for the complete thing instead of hours like a treadmill test. Good Luck

I put a large portion of my tax refund away to pay max out of pocket if it's more then I'll have to go on payment plans.

Not to much when I breath deep coughing gets me a bit. I have an onboard pain thing that maybe helping me it's called an On Q PainBuster. It's in a fanny pack I wear around my neck or shoulder and delivers meds directly to the incisions. It comes off tomorrow so well see how that goes. Today I had grape juice cut with Water and a cup of beef broth.
I've also taken pills today with no issues one fairly big Levaquin antibiotic. I'd kill for a protien shake though...doc says Clear Liquids only but I'm not really hungry jsut want the texture and taste of the shake.< /p>

Had my surgery Friday 4/10 spent the night in the hospital didn't get up much not because I didn't feel like it but because it was such a production. I was lucky that the Dr. allowed me ice chips after surgery that was a big relief. Haven't had much since surgery some Water, grape juice and about half a cup of chicken broth. A bit sore but liquid Tylenol seems to take care of that. Slept well last night but got up really early for a couple hours then went back to bed for a couple hours up now feeling OK taking a walk around the neighborhood after it warms up a bit.

I think I'm being tortured.....LOL
I don't quite know the only response I got was some times they go in at the wrong spot and have to go to a different area. No one on the hospital staff seemed to think that was unusual in recovery they told me I had 9 sites like it was nothing and up on the floor they said 8 like it was just normal. When I got home I recounted and there are 9.
