Pill-Popping Lap Banders?
JayTee562 replied to MariasWish's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told that I should be able to take even my biggest pills. I have one that is time released Niacin even with the time release it sometimes bothers me with a pins and needles flush feeling so I can't cut it up. But they said if I take a handfull at once, which I do, I probably couldn't do that I'd have to take one at a time. -
Sounds like good timming to me. I have a couple projects that are finishing up soon, I present my last big one to the customer next week. After that it look like I will assist others or work on small updates till I go out for surgry. Wish I could do a nice vaction before but it's not in the plan.

P/O Diet More Than I Thought
JayTee562 replied to lsmmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for postin this lsmmom. Good luck with your surgery. -
I'm preBand and they found stones in my gallbladder during preop testing. My Dr. won't remove it during my band surgery so I had the option gallbladder out before band or ball bladder out after band heals. I told them I'd wait. For many of us issues with gallbladder issues are not unusual.

P/O Diet More Than I Thought

Anyway to share your list or is it to large? -
I'm glad to hear from some Dr. Shina patients He was definitely up front about what he expects you to eat...."meat and fish, meat and fish sometimes eggs, sometimes peanut butter".... I liked that rule easy to follow. But as I got to thinking of breakfast sometimes eggs means once or maybe twice a week, may not be an issue since some people say they can't eat till midday anyway. I was wondering what ti a typical menu for my fellow Dr. Shina patients?

Thanks cproctor. I had my presurgery labs and class today asked them about the liver thing and the nutritionist and nurse said if we weren't told to do one we don't have to worry but we may want to start cutting carbs. I'm thinking of starting to replace a meal with a carb frendily shake to try and help that. Yes I ws prewarned about Dr Shina's deminor he is very frank but I really liked him.

I saw my PCP on 6/5/08 for referral. Had a seminar a few days after that. Had my Surgeon consult 10/28/08. I did not see my PCP in October so I had to start the 6-month weigh-in (Aetna requirement) again, changed insurance companies 1/1/09 (UHC) didn't require weigh-ins to be in a row. Last weigh-in 1/16/08. Psych and Nutrition completed 1/19/08. Took forever to get last records from PCP packet was submitted on 2/6/09 and my surgeon was notified on 2/27/09. Now just waiting for 4/10/09 to get 'er done.

I have a surgery date of April 9 with Dr. Ponce
JayTee562 replied to Dwayne Bordelon's topic in The Guys’ Room
cmexlr8 I'm one day behind you first surgery on April 10th. Dr. Shina Norton Suburban Louisville. I go for my per op testing tomorrow. Good luck!! -
BETH OMG!!!!! Did the SF FF pudding thing with pistachio pudding it was the best. I usually do fruit sometimes with peanut butter but this is definitely different and good. For those who don't like protein powders, I'm sure other have said this, try mixing yogurt and fruit or this pudding thing you (I) really can't taste the powder or feel a strange texture.

Thanks Busy. I have my PreOp this Thursday 3/12 and I'm sure they will let me know what diet and for how long they want me to do. I see Cardo and Pulimnary Dr's on Monday 3/16 if my meds aren't changed by any of those 3 appointments then I'll get a hold of my PCP. Only one month from tomorrow till my surgery:ohmy:

Love Mario cart!!!!! I have my WII setup on my wirless network so I play online and have a coworker set as a friend and we can race together from the comforts of our own home. I'm still to large for the Fit I've heard that 300lbs is the max. I'd like to get fitness coach..... To tell you the truth I'm so out of shape the Wii Sports that came with the system works up a sweat for me.

It's really suprising how quickly the 6 months can go and if you've been seeing your Dr. regularly and notes about weight and diet have been made on your chart you may have a few months over already. Just make sure from now on you see your dr. on a monthly basis and have notes put in about your weight loss attempt. I made the mistake of skipping a month after my initial visit to my pcp and it would have post poned my surgery by a couple months but I switched insurance in the proces and they didn't reauire back to back weighins. Bottom line start now if youhaven't already and do not skip a month that starts it all over for many. Good Luck

Is alcohol gone for good?
JayTee562 replied to hessekids's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Look at you debbie girl!!!!!! WAY TO GO!!!!!! and still no fill....Congrats on your success.... -
My Dr. doesn't do a liquid preop either I was ok with it till I talked to a girl at work who's friend didn't get her band because of a fat liver. My Dr. did give me a plan called the Rotation Diet at my consultation but it's very strict and I got really bitc....grumpy so people told me to stop. I've been thinking about doing low carb with a meal or two replaced with a protein shake. I'm about 34 days away form surgery so it's all becoming more real. One option for the low carb plan is South Beach diet .com you can do 7 day trial for free...funny their commercial came on as I was typing that. You get meal plans for the week then cancel your program. Currently several of us at work are doing the 50 Million Pound Challenge but it's not low carb. Good Luck and I'm glad someone shares my concerns.

Jazz up your protein shake!
JayTee562 replied to socalfosh's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is this a SF or low cal creamer? I don't drink much coffee but have creamer around for when I do. This sounds really good but I thought creamers would be to much sugar or fat to be allowed. I love my wal-mart chocolate creamer in coffee on Sunday mornings I like the coconut also. -
Is alcohol gone for good?
JayTee562 replied to hessekids's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Understandable...if you select the right cocktail you can make it last all night. When my other half and I go out only one drinks usually not me. A bartender friend got me started drinking bourbon on the rocks I can nurse it for several hours and keeps everyone happy that I'm not missing out. I'm PreOp but glad that I can have a drink now and then after surgery. -

JayTee562 replied to hessekids's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In the mens room there is a thread where people are posting what they still cocktail with. Some are even still drinking beer. One thing to remember though is with less food in your system it might hit harder then it used to. -

Just had to have 6 weighin's in the last 2 years maybe it was 1 year. They didn't have to be in a row just 6 within a time frame. We jsut changed to UHC this year previously Aetna I was needing 6 month weight loss with Dr. My package was sent on 2/6 and approval came back in 3 weeks.
