I have been there, almost 2 months out and there were days where I was up 4-6 lbs and it took a few days to get back down, I asked my doctor and she said it’s water weight, and to be mindful of the sodium, once I started checking and avoiding the salt I have had a solid decrease of around 15-17 lbs a month since, currently 67 lbs down, and a few lbs from my mid point, feeling amazing as long as I stay away from carbs, sugar and grease

Hey everyone, I’m 2 months post op roux-en-y if anyone has any questions about that surgery I can help out with let me know, I’m happy to help anywhere I can!
-
Good advice, I’m doing my best to keep things from getting to me but like you said, seeing people get greedy and the crap they are trying to pull is insane…

Anyone having any issues with stress affecting them during recovery? I lost my grandfather a few months before surgery and my aunts and uncle have been an absolute nightmare for my relationship with my grandma. I’m doing my best to help her out as much as possible and make sure her transition is good, but they are all trying to say I’m too involved while they’re trying to milk out their inheritances before she’s gone. It’s ridiculous how greedy they all are, and how she doesn’t see it. Lucky they aren’t my kids or I’d give everything to a charity with the way they’re acting. The only involvement I have had is bringing her food, and helping her clean up some of the rooms in her house, my grandfather was a hoarder. I haven’t taken anything, including money even when she tries to pay for things like storage totes or the food I bring, so it’s pretty ridiculous…not totally sure how to handle it but I’m feeling pretty crappy and she’s been parroting the crap the aunts have said about me which is all nonsense, although venting does help a bit lol

I agree, it’s tough when there’s so much different info, cream of wheat is fine with my doc, it’s just the oatmeal she doesn’t like lol
-
I’m in the same boat with eating, had one day where I ate too much too fast, but eggs, and everything else I have no issues with as long as I eat it somewhat slow. My doc said to stay away from oatmeal for the first 3-4 months, her words were “oatmeal is the biggest thorn in my side with blockages” although I see all over it is ok, I guess it makes sense it could be an issue with how sticky it can become

Well I’m a hair over 2 weeks post op and looks like I’ve hit a stall, haven’t lost anything the last few days, how long did that last for others?
-
Well took a bit of digging but once I downloaded the app I found it, thanks for the help!

Strange, I don’t have that screen anywhere, mine is totally different. Are you using an app?

Silly question I’m sure, does anyone know how to update their surgery info on their profile? I can’t seem to edit anything but my name, gender and birthday along with general info about me…I’m sure I’m missing something, lol

Congrats! I can’t wait till I’m all healed up and can start eating normal foods again, I love chicken and especially white meat, but my surgeon says I need to stay away from it because it’s too dry and can cause a blockage…although canned chicken is fine with a little mayo or yogurt. Been a heck of a journey so far.

I’ve had no issues drinking since the day after surgery. Even the shakes seem to go right through me, I mentioned it to the doctor and she said the liquids can do that sometimes, but I’m not sure why I don’t ever feel full, or hungry for that matter
-
Glad I’m not the only one, it’s really weird to not feel anything either way. Guess I just need to stay up on it!

Wish I were that lucky, I went home the following day. Which I thought was quick haha, same day would have been awesome! I’m on to the soft foods stage now, but I haven’t felt “full” yet like I would before, also haven’t really gotten hungry, it’s strange, but I do get sore from time to time when I drink too fast or eat too fast

Yeah that’s what I heard about the VSG, the stitching required causes pain that I didn’t have to deal with since my stomach wasn’t cut and removed. Hopefully it goes away quickly!!!
-
I had a week of solid pain after my surgery, I believe it was gas buildup, but once it all passed I felt great, which surgery did you have? I had the bypass, but I heard the VSG is much more painful to recover from

Good luck on the appointment, I never had drains fortunately, I was expecting them and dreading the removal. Hope all goes well!

Had my surgery on may 17th, feeling awesome and have my follow up Friday!
