Well, I am home. I had surgery June 17th. I am blessed as I've had very little pain and no gas pain so far. Sites are tender but to be expected. This is day 3 post op. I am showered up and around, puttering in the house, sipping my shakes and water all day. taking my vitamins as of this morning. Slept better last night in my own bed. I do feel bloated, but they say that is normal after surgery. Anxious to begin working out, but must be patient. Can't do that for a couple weeks they say. Will begin walking 1 week post op slowly around the block.
I am praying this tool will help me reach my goal ina couple years!! Wish me well, all.
Thanks Jane

Smyly:
Your story touched me. I could relate. I am 54 years old, my husband is retired navy and we are self employed in Virginia. we've raised 5 daughters. one is home, she's thelast, age 19.
I have been type two diabetic for 8 years, and my stomach looks like a pin cushion. I'm tired of shots and the oral meds make you swell up so badly. I have arthritis in my ankles and wrists so that hurts alot.
I try and work out but some days i have no energy due to the extra weight i've been carrying around. I have tried it all!!! up and down most of my life. I haven't been under 200 pounds in 15 years!!
I began this process last August 08 and i finally got a surgery date in April.
I have surgery June 17th and will go on a slim fast diet for two weeks prior.
I would love to hear from you.
thanks,

Hello,
My name is Jane and I live in Chesapeake, VA. I have struggled with weight all my life. The lowest i've ever been was 154 pounds in 1984. I have put on tremendous weight over the past 24 years and i'm at 265 pounds, and only 5 foot 5. I have blood pressure meds i am on, i'm on insulin, type 2, and have osteoarthritis, so i have joint pain daily. I have struggled with whether i am a lap band or gastric bypass candidate. I finally decided i'm tired of being tired and not healthy. I have gone to the first seminar for bariatric surgery and have learned about both types of surgery. I am leaning toward lap band as i would like to have it not be so drastic and life altering as gastric surgery. I also don't like the malabsorption thing with bypass. I know this will be life altering, but at age 54 this December, I know that it's high time to take back my life. Can you call me some time on my cell phone as a lap band mentor? I will wait to hear back from you first by email. I hope to hear from you. You're profile is an inspiration to me. Thanks so much,
Jane
