I just had my 1st fill last week. I can totally feel the restriction if I eat too fast or take too big a bite. I am confused as to what the band is supposed to do. Does is make you slow down your eating and take smaller bites or is it suppose to get you full faster and keep you full? I have restriction, but it seems I don't get full like I thought I would. I feel like I can eat more than I thought I should be able too. sorry if I am confusing you. I guess I jsut don't know when I should get another fill. Thanks in advance and have a great day!

I will have been banded a year this month and so far great success and no probelms at all. Except the ones I do myself like the eating too fast and getting stuck. Anyway, a few days ago I started having pain right under my breasts in the middle of my stomach. I have been extremely bloated but not passing much gas or burping at all. The pain is sometimes more painful and then just a burning. I feel all this pressure in this area. More pressure that pain most of the time. I went to ER and they did CT scan and told me all looked fine but this pain/pressure has not stopped at all and I am worrying myself to death. Has anyone out there had similar experiences and what was the out come? I can't lean forward for very long because it's like I can feel my stomach. It's this pressure that won't go away. I am really scared. I have an appt with general Dr tomorrow afternoon but fell like i can't wait that long. I have been on antibiotics for a kidney infection and was told that would kill off all the "good" bacteria in the stomach and could cause gastritis. Just looking for help, comfort, advice. Any ideas? Thanks, Angel

They said my gallbladder looked fine on the ct scan. I am going today to ask for an upper GI which is what the band Dr said I should have done next. Once that comes back I should know more. Thank you for your input! -
Just wondering what ever happened with you? I am experiencing some thing like that but with lots of bloating in my abdoman and pressure on my stomach. Did you find out what was wrong? Angel

Thanks for your help. I guess I haven't got to that "Sweet Spot" everyone is talking about. Can't wait to reach that little step. Thanks again.

:cursing:I was banded 8 days ago and am feeling great. Thats the good part. But now I feel like I have no restiction at all and can eat whatever I want. I'm not eating whatever I want, but I can put down two cans of Campbells soup. Is that normal? I do get pretty full after, but two cans to fill me up seems like alot. I know I am not eating as much as I did before but I have only lost 10 pounds where as my sister has lost 20 in the same amount of time. ( we banded the same day) Anyway, do people get to a point of eating regular food before a fill? I am still eating mushy foods but I can take a bite of a cookie with no problems. Is that normal? I told my husband I dont think the Doc put the band in me! I hope a fill will help me because the reason I needed it is because I can eat like a man and I don't want to. Seems like I still can. I paid out of pocket on this and I hope this isn't a tool that could actually not work. Maybe I am just panicing, I dont know. Sorry to spew.

Thank God !!! I thought I was crazy for dishing out this $. You guys have made me feel so much better. My Doc said no fill for 6-8 weeks. Seems long but I guess I can wait. Thanks again! -
:cursing:Hi eveyone I was banded 2 days ago and I am starving. Is this normal? If I didn't know any better, I would think the Dr didn't even band me. I am starving and feel no restriction at all. I am only doing liquids, but I thougth I would feel some kind of restriction. Has anyone else had this and how do you get though it? Because if I am going to be this hungry till my 1st fill, I am going to knaw off my own arm. Any suggestions? Thanks so much!

My siter-in-law and I were banded the same day (12-16). I have had little problems and am feeling pretty good for a week out. My sister-in-law is having a real hard time recovering and is almost regreting the band. I feel so bad for her and want to help her. She says she just isn't feeling back to normal yet. She is having alot of gas pain all over. Constipation problems. And just an overall yucky feeling. How long does it take some people to get back to normal? how long can the gas stay in your body and cause pain? I want her to know she isn't alone and it will get better but I need facts. Any ideas? Thanks:frown: -

2 Days out and starving...help
angel43072 replied to angel43072's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same day, huh? How are you feeling? I actually have been feeling pretty good. Less pain today. I am drinking the Boost protein drinks and they do fill me up but it just seems that I am hungry real soon after. I need to remember to drink my water too. Have you had the gas problems? Mine have been minor but my sister-in-law (we did it together) has had pretty bad cramping. Anyway, good to meet you and keep in touch and Good Luck! -

Financing out of pocket costs?
angel43072 replied to twiggysmiff's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi I just got banded two days ago. I also paid out of pocket. I used Capitol Health Care Credit. You just apply on their website and get an answer immediately. Just google Capitol Health Care Credit and when you get the website, go to personal loans. It was easy. Hope this helps. good Luck Angella:thumbup: -
I am scheduled for Dec 16th too! And I was just told I don't need to do any real diet before either. I am going to do protein shakes for breakfast anyways just to get used to shakes. Anyway, good luck to you!

my sister-in-law and myself are scheduled on Dec 16th. We are doing it all together. I can't wait, but I am scared to death of having the surgery. I am so scared of getting a blood clot. I know the chances are slim but my husband broke his leg this year and ended up with a massive blood clot. And he is in good health and weight. My 2 greats kids don't need two parents with blood clots. Has anyone heard of this happening? Anyway, I am glad I found this site and good luck to all!

:scared2:My sisiter-in-law and myself went yesterday to see Dr Hajduczek at Surgulite in Torrance, CA. Our Insurance won't cover the band so we are going out of pocket. I am so scared of the surgery I don't know if I can do it. I need to. Not doing it will cause problems I know, but I can't imagine dying trying to get skinny. I am 36 and in pretty good health other that being fat. No high blood pressure, no diabeties, no heart problems. Just can't believe I can't do this on my own for free and I am opting for such a drastic measure. has anyone else felt this way and if so, how did you get thru it. This whole process is such a mind game. Just venting and thought this would be the place to do it. thanks :tongue2:

Thats great that you jumped right in. I think thats what i need to do. Just make the damn appointment. I think I will on Monday. If I do, I will be banded in just two short weeks. Scary but good. Thanks for your advise.

You are so right about everything you said. Everything. I just wonder what others have in them to lose the weight naturalty or just not be fat in the first place that I lack. To have to resort to surgery when other do it for free just drives me crazy. But I know I need it. I hope you are doing well and please keep in touch with your progress. I wish you the best in your journey!
-
thanks for you advise. I guess I need to get my mind around it all. I could have it done 9-23-08 if I would just make the phone call to make the appointment. I can't bring myself to pick up that damn phone. But thanks and I am taking your words and pondering what to do. thanks again and good luck to you. Keep in touch and let me know how your doing with your "new car"!

thanks for the words of advise. I know it should be fine. I just can't believe I have had to resort to surgery to lose weight. What do othera have that allow them to lose weight or just ot be fat? Crazy stuff. Anyway, I am taking your words and pondering. thanks again
