  1. Almost 5 weeks post op. Occasionally I will start dry heaving or retching. Not necessarily after eating or drinking either, it almost feels random. This happens 3 or 4 times a day usually. I don’t actually throw up, I’ve only puked once or twice post op.
Is this normal? It really sucks. Reposting in this forum because I had no responses in the other.
  2. You are right!! Thank you, good point.

I can drink like 32 oz of water in like an hour. Is that normal? I’m 3 weeks post op.

Although it’s been miserable and eating is still a chore and everything tastes gross… I’m been cleared for Soft foods and my doctor is thrilled with my current results. Down 39 lbs currently which he said is way ahead of schedule! This is with a 2 week pre op liver shrinking diet and now exactly 3 weeks post op tomorrow. Starting weight was 357. 318 this morning. That’s pretty exciting!

Everything tastes gross. Two days till I’m out of the liquids phase and into the soft foods phase. I’ve already tried refried beans and eggs and frankly they were not good at all. I’m not sure what’s wrong with me lol. This whole time all I’ve been craving is beans and eggs and now I’m just sad. All I want is a salad. Time couldn’t be going slower.
  7. Thank you both for those insightful responses! Both of them gave me a lot of hope rather than fear. I think fear is good to a degree but can definitely reach a point where it’s more harmful. Moderation is the key I think and to maintain is what I’m looking for. I don’t want my surgery to dictate everything I do moving forward, but I do want it to be consciously on my mind in my choices and lifestyle moving forward. I hope the digestion process moving forward will play a minimal role.
  8. Hello. I’m brand new on my weight loss journey. I’m almost 2 weeks post op. My goals after surgery are to lose weight and to be in a healthy BMI. I am not going for any particular weight number goals or anything like that, I just want to be able and active for my kiddos. I’m having a ton of fear about my forever diet. I feel like I still want food to be a part of my life and I want to be able to eat food without being concerned about weight. Initially I was under the impression that I would be able to eat foods I enjoy, but just in moderation. Upon learning more I’m seeing that low carb diets are basically mandatory from here on. Is there a way I can deficit increased exercise and activity level for more carbs in the future? I am determined to make the gym a large part of my routine and I want to exercise more and have less restrictions as far as what I eat. Is this possible as a Bariatric patient? Are things done to me now that would make this type of lifestyle goal not possible? I’ve had the Sleeve and a Modified Duodenal Switch or Sadi-S. I may be extremely naive and what I think I want now could change in the future, but that’s my goals.

7 days Post Op now. Sadi-s Wow this has been so hard!! My entire entertainment selection has consisted of people eating those unhealthy foods that we shouldn’t be having for a long while. My head hunger is insane. Erik the electric videos, Instagram, Facebook, everywhere is just delicious food videos. It’s been really hard. I’ve really struggled getting through the liquids stage. I’m not sure how to keep going. I ordered a soup from a local bakery today because I’ve been struggling eating. I know I haven’t been getting near enough. Loaded baked potato soup that I put in the blender. It was amazing. I’m not sure if it’s something I’m allowed to eat or not but I went slow and let my tummy talk for me. Can’t wait to be out of this liquids stage. Feeding my whole family delicious food like Alfredo and Grilled Cheese and Pesto and every other thing that they are eating has been so hard. I know other people are struggling but it’s been pretty bad for me. Been extremely light headed and dizzy today and decided I really needed to focus liquids and getting more food. Hopefully things stable out. My two go-to’s are Vanilla Pudding (Sugar Free) Life saver, Cream of Chicken Soup, and I just had my first bit of Greek Yogurt and honestly I am grateful I did. I didn’t realize how well my stomach would take to the yogurt. I’m about 32 oz of water today and it’s 5 PM which is a lot better than every other day. I know I’m dehydrated so I really need to get it under control but I’m doing my best! I know this is all a jumbled mess of updates, but again lightheaded and foggy minded lol. The reason I took the time to post this is because wanted to check in and see if anybody else is struggling like this? Or am I an outlier minority? Goodluck everyone. I think once I can have a string cheese next week, refried beans and scrambled eggs, everything will be better I hope. That’s all for now…. >:(
  10. Curently post op- surgery was yesterday. Every single time I drink liquids my stomach starts to turn and hurt. Really really sharp pains. Is this normal? Even when sipping tiny tiny tiny amounts of fluid.
  11. I've heard collagen. I'll have to go buy some. I don't know if it's too late for me to start that or not, hopefully not but yeah. Genetics makes perfect sense
  12. That is awesome!! Congrats. I'm pretty worried about what the new eating lifestyle is going to be like. But I'm sure there's a lot of good resources on this thread. Thank you for your response!
  13. I go in for the DS surgery tomorrow 5/11. Is there anything I should be taking or things I should be doing post surgery to try and combat a little bit of loose excess skin? Anything I can do or take? I'm 26 yo.
  14. I don't have any friends or know anybody else who has had Bariatric surgery before. I would love to add some people on here to connect with. I know a support group makes a big difference. Please add me and I will add you back if you see this. 🙂 Even social media would be cool. I don't post much but I need accountability buddies.
