I can not stand Tracey!! Those eyeballs are about to jump out of their sockets sometimes. But like my sister in law said, she keeps it entertaining.
-
I have them sometimes at work for convenience, but can't eat a whole one.

I never discussed a final goal weight with my surgeon, so on my year check up on Sept 17th I asked him. I weighed in at 198 that day, 60 down in a year and he told me that he would like me to lose 40 more. He said he would be happy for me to be anywhere in the 150's. My initial goal for myself was 140. I am 5' 4"

My first fill was 3cc's. Now after 4 fills, I am at a total of 5.5cc's in my 10cc band

Today is my day, My one year anniversary. I can't believe how fast the year has gone. I weighed myself this morning and am 68 pounds down. I would love to lose 40 more but would be happy with 30.

1st Support Group Mtg was Great!
JUKU replied to bdbmamaw's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you going to continue to go to your support group? They offer one only about 25 miles from home, but I have never went. -
Awesome. I too hit my 60 pound mark on my 11 month (to the day) mark.

1/4 to 1/2 cup seems way to little. My doctor told me between a cup & a cup and a half.

HOLY BUCKETS!! THAT IS AWESOME!! I was banded on Sept 30th 2008 as well and I am down 67 pounds. Had my year checkup with my surgeon last Thursday the 17th and he was extremely pleased with my progress. He had wanted 50 pounds off in a year, so I am ahead of schedule. I want to be officially over 70 before the 30th, so guess we will see. Again GREAT JOB!!

Who does better? Self-pay or Insurance paid?
JUKU replied to Melinco's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I don't know if it is true or not, but I was total self pay. Dang it, I am not just going to thow 20 grand down the drain. -
That is absolutely incredible!! Good for Dan, when he decided to change he walked the walk.
-
I went home same day. No problems, they made sure I could walk around & use rest room before they let me go.

Have never heard of that!!

We have similar stats. I was 258 on surgery day and have a goal of 140. I am 195 right now almost a year out, so I am at about 50% of my goal. Not too fast, but I will take it. Good luck.

How soon can you have a drink?
JUKU replied to mems's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor never told me anything about what he thought. But I had a cranberry vodka 4 weeks after. -
Congrats on getting your date!! Don't be nervous everything will go great. Good Luck in your new healthy life.

I saw it too, but can't remember who had it on their profile.

driving myself nuts with my new scale
JUKU replied to marmar's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do the same thing!! It can differ up to 5 pounds from morning to night. I always go with my morning weight. LOL!! Bad thing is, I weigh in with a nurse every Tuesday night at 4pm, so of course that is the higher weight. -
Concerns about Flu illness
JUKU replied to kowboyboots's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor said if I even think that I have been exposed to the flu or have it, to call him immediatly and he would prescribe an anti nausea medicine. He said vomiting would be really bad for the band and may cause a slippage. -
There is no way of going back and changing the past, so be PROUD that you were able to get the weight off!!!!

I had called the insurance company before I even went for my first consult to see what was required. I had to be at least 80 pounds overweight, a certain BMI, have at least one problem caused by my weight (I had high blood pressure) and I needed to have a dr aggree with me that I needed the surgery. I thought "great", all these were true. Sent my packet & 10 days later came my denial "no record of 5 yr DOCTOR supervised diet plan". My surgeons nurse called the company and explained this was never stated to me, but they wouldn't budge. I had tried other diets for years but never under the direction of a doctor, which meant I would have to wait 5 additional years until they would pay for it. I just couldn't wait until I was 36 to start a new healthy life. So, decided to pay. Since you are both wanting this surgery, I would definitly try to fight it. Best of Luck!!

My insurance company didn't mention the 5 yr diet until after we submitted. Then they came back with a denial stated that a 5 year supervised diet was necessary. I decided that I wanted to do this for myself and was able to self pay. I figure it was a 20,000 investment to myself.
