Crazy amount of Hair Loss, Please Help
Morkiecoco posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I had my surgery on 10/10, weighing in at a tipping 385 pounds. In the first month, I did not see anything out of normal, however the past 3 weeks I had a crazy amount of hair loss. I also hit a platu, and have not loss any weight these past 3 weeks. I am stuck at 335. Today a chunk of hair came out as I brushed it. I am totally freeking out. Bloodwork gets done every 6 months, so that would be done at my next visit on 4/15/09. I take my chewables every day, and have increased my protein in per my dr. at my last visit, being I lost only 3 pounds from Jan to feb. Is anyone haveing hair issues? -
Hi, I am getting banded on 10/10/08, and I am looking for a cost effective Protein replacement. I did Optifast for 6 months, to qualify for the band, and I am tired of the flavor. It was also costing me $100.00 a week for the shakes. I am looking for alternitives for my liquid stage after getting banded. What was the best value you found out there?

How long before you ate lettuce salads?
Morkiecoco replied to grannytwinkie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded 21 days ago, My Dr. Recomended waiting 45 days before eating salad. He said to cut it up really small, and have it sit in a vingar based salad dressing to wilt for 5 mins before eating it. This will help us dissolve the salad. -

2 days till banding, Any suggestions for my last meal?
Morkiecoco posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Two days until I get banded. My Dr. did not require any post-op diet. I have been watching my calories, and try not to go over 1,200 a day. I been really good. I do want to have one last meal before my surgery. I am thinking of having it tonight so I have plenty of time to let it pass threw my system. Any suggestions on what to have for my last real meal?? What did you eat the few days prior to your banding?? :tt1: -

Timeline of Surgery day hackensack, nj
Morkiecoco posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, My name is jamie and I am getting my banding done in two weeks, at Hackansack, NJ. I have a few questions: Can you tell me about how you experience was checking in. do you get a room right away, then get a consult from the dr, then go to surgery? My mother, father and Husband want to be there for the surgery. I do not want three people bothering me in those small rooms. Also is there a separate waiting room for surgery's? how was your experience after surgery, what happened, and what was the time line for everything. Thank you for your help. -
Wow, no wonder there is so many american that can not afford health insurance. My last two reviews at work, my raise was the raise in Health Insurance. I work for a small company. I had to fight to get my health insurance approved, and scheduled for 10/10/08, however to do self pay the fee was $18,000.00 and chargeing it threw my Insurance it is $25,000.00. I think it has to do with the Insurance company fighting markups, and overall the Dr. office gets around 18,000.00. I used to work in a Dr.s office and they never get 100% they charge, and takes 2-3 months before they get paid. I was in the Hospital for a day for another procedure, and got charged something like $25.00 for a asprin. Our system is totally messed up.

Any October Bandsters!??!?!
Morkiecoco replied to SoCalCass's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am set to go on Oct 10! I cant wait. I had some insurance problems, my first date was 1/24, so it has been a struggle for them to approve. I know this month will fly by. -
Hi, I am new to the message board, and after 9 months of fighting with my insurance company, I finally got my approval letter. YAY!!!! My date for the operation is 10/10/08, and before I know it, it will be here. I Live in West Milford, NJ, and I am having my Operation in Hackansack. It was the closest place to get it done with my insurance. My dr. does have support groups, however it is a hour drive for me. I was wondering if anyone lived close to me, or knows of a closer support group? Thank you for any help.

Finally after 3 years of thinking of getting banded, and then started looking into it, I found out that i needed 6 months of weight loss history for blue cross blue shiled. I was 2 weeks shy of this, and needed to do 6 months all over again. So to make a long story short, after 9 months, I finally have my date of 10/10 to be banded. My question is this, should I start reducing my food, prior to being banded?
