Salome000: I was planning to purchase the IDS New Whey Bullets this Friday at GNC. They are having a sell on them. Anyway, I was just wondering how well they work, because I am on the pre-op diet and I can assure you I am having growling stomach rumbling noises, which I am sure my co-workers can hear. Which flavor bullets do you like and how did you like drinking them...On ice, in Water, mixed with juice?

Emotional Ups and Downs on Pre-Op Diet
TQUAD64 replied to sandielaw's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry to hear that your surgery was rescheduled. The support staff at the bariatric center I attend states that while on the pre-op and after the surgery our eating habits (crutches) change significantly. Comfort food we relied on to get us through our moments are no longer available to us. I am on the pre-op diet now, as my surgery is on November 11. It is a struggle. My stomach is growling so loudly that I am almost sure that my co-workers can hear it from their offices. And Halloween candy is throughout the building making it even more of a challenge. Anyway, I have felt distracted, angry, and very moody as well. I am tired and the only thing that is getting me through this is knowing that I will not be on a strict liquid diet the rest of my life. I like your plan and you are focus. No doubt you will come through this a stronger person. Best wishes. -
Who can still eat whatever they want?
TQUAD64 replied to Shasta92582's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm not banded yet, so I am confused. I thought the badn created a little pouch. So if there is a little pouch, how does one eat an entire foot long Subway sandwich? Won't that stretch out the little pouch? I am confused??? -

The clinic I go to and weighs me with clothes on, but no shoes or socks. My primary care doc weighs with clothes on and shoes on. -
What kind of PreOp diet are you going to be on?
TQUAD64 replied to Froggi's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have two choices. First choice two high protien drinks at least 42 grams each and a high protien low fat meal. Or three high protien meals that are low fat. -
Thanks Jean. I am not nervous right now, but will probably be crawling out of my skin in November. Right now, I am just trying to keep healthy. We are going into cold and flu season and I get sick real easily. I continue to take my vitamins and I am getting plenty of rest. Trying to keep my stress level low. :-)
Anyway, I have Hills Physicians BC/BS and I have been trying to have them senf me their WLS policy to me. I want it in writing, so I can know how many fills they cover, what the fees are, and what recourse I have if there are issues with the band. I have requested this information three times and yesterday they stated they would send it to me. Same old story....I will keep trying to get it. Basically, it is an internal document for BC/BS and is not in my companies insurance policy. That just sounds crazy to me.
Anyway, keep in touch.

I'm November 11th too! Congrats and best wishes.

What's up with the Psychologist appt????
TQUAD64 replied to wintobethin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I spent about 40 minutes with the pyscologist. He asked many questions regarding why I wanted the surgery and he if I did research on the surgery. He then had me complete 200 yes/no....true/false questions. Those questions were odd, but basically trying to determine if I could and if I would follow the surgeon's directions. -
Has Anyone Cheated On The Pre-Op Liquid Diet ?
TQUAD64 replied to Tyme2GetRite's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My pre-op diet is some what flexible in that I can have three small meals that are high protien low carb and low fat with two small fruit Snacks. OR I can have two protien drinks at 42 grams each with a protien meal for dinner. I have not cheated yet. But I am so hungry. When I get real hungry, I start drinking chicken broth and that helps. I am really trying to make this work and I have lost 10-pounds so far. But I need to lose 15 more pounds before the surgery, which is November 11. -
My son reads and has all the Terry Goodkind books. My favorite romance author is Sandra Brown. However, right now I am reading Weigh Loss Surgery for Dummies.

Hi rmartone3: You will have some type of pain reliever, but it will be different for everyone. I will not have morphine, since I am allergic to it. Good luck with your surgery.

Anyone have a pelvic ultrasound after banding?
TQUAD64 replied to Great2BThin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Longtobethin, I feel your pain. I had a hysterectomy and they left both ovaries in. However, the right ovary continues to grow small cysts, which can be very painful. With each cyst, they do an ultrasound, which requires me to have a full bladder. This has happened three times and I find the ultrasound painful especially when the technician takes the wand and pushes down. My bladder just doesn't hold it like it use to. One time I did not have enough Fluid intake, so they kept me there and had me keep on drinking until they were able to complete the test. You never seen a woman jump off a table so fast rushing towards the bathroom once the test was complete. Good luck. -
Hello Gouna Gal: How exciting that you will be banded next week! Although I have not been banded yet, I have had 10 surgeries in my life, so I know a little bit about recovery. I recognize every person's recovery time is different and totally dependent upon the procedure and health, but I would recommend you give your body time to heal. Going back to work the day after surgery really does not give your body the recovery time it needs. Take care, Terry

Hi Romey: There is no shame in failing. You have identified the issue and you know how to fix it. The medical profession is there to support you in your journey. And we all know every journey has ups and downs. This is your opportunity to move forward and take control of your health. We know you can do it, because you took the first step and by having the surgery and the second step by posting here today. Please don't give up. Call your surgeon and make an appointment to see he/she. Remember there are so many people on this forum who have the same fears and struggles. You are not alone, so make the phone call. Best wishes, Terry

New here! About Insurance
TQUAD64 replied to MrsSbisa112's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My primary care doctor told me, my patient advocate told me, the BC/BS insurance company told me, and so did my nutrionist that I had to complete the 6-month supervised diet. -
Just want to share...
TQUAD64 replied to rcoleband's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor stated hair loss is attributed to fewer calories and not getting enough protien in. I am not banded yet, but I am trying very hard to track protien intake, so I can make it a healthy habit. -

Need some advice. 30 Pre-Op / Nervous & in the NESTING Stage.
TQUAD64 replied to Lauren448's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ditto! Me too. My surgery is on November 11th and I have difficulty focusing at home and work. I am really fixated on this procedure and cannot wait for it to happen. It has been a year long process, so now it is time to move forward. I read a lot of the posts to help me make my shopping list for my post banding supplies. Plus, my surgeon and nutritionist have provided me a list, but really there is nothing like "User Feedback." Anyway, good luck to you.:tongue_smilie: -
Should I diet? Advice PLEASE!?!
TQUAD64 replied to IWannaBeSkinny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My insurance BC/BS, takes the start weight at the time of the 6-month medically supervised diet...Not the end weight. However, my surgeon thought this might be an issue, since be BMI went to 40.1 and instructed me to maintain my current weight, until we received insurance approval. Now that the insurance approved the WLS I am back to losing more weight for the surgery. -
I got the news today that my surgery will be on November 11, 2008 @ 7:40 AM.:smile2:

TQUAD64 replied to IWannaBeSkinny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with all the posters. I was told not to go beyond the 40. BMI, until the insurance company approved the surgery. It is easy to lose the weight, but hard to keep off...Good luck
