    I'm finally scheduled

Congrats! My advice is to keep doing your research, read the threads on this forum, and follow your doctor's orders. Best wishes!
  2. No you are not weird and yes others know what your talking about. You are half way to a healthier you, because you recognize the challenge of eating for health. Good luck on the journey!
  3. I am two week post op and the gas pain was horrible. Plus, I would get terribly nauseated with the pain meds at the hospital and at home. The doc gave me an ant-nausea patch in the hospital, plus several spairs for my recovery at home. The best thing I found for gas pain is walking. By day 7, I felt great and was able to drive, shop, and do light housework.

    Day Two and Miserable

It really does get better. I am two weeks out and the first 5-days were the worse. Pain, gas, soreness, and diarreah. On day seven, I felt great and was driving, shopping, and doing chores. It will get better.

    Banded 11-26-08

Good luck and congrats on being banded!
  7. Heck this was my 11th surgery and was just as nervous with this surgery as I was with the 10 previous ones. It is very natural to become nervous about any type of general anthesia surgery. I recommend you have a strong support system in place. Find out if your love ones can be with right before you go into the operating room. They can help ease your fears and you won't feel alone with them there.:grouphug:
  8. Sorry to hear this. But whatever you do don't give up. Many of us on thise site had to jump through so many hoops. We did it and you can do it too. The majority of people are required to go on a pre-op diet to shrink the liver. The liver sits on top of the stomach and must be lifted out of the way for banding. Think of it as an opportunity to make the surgery procedure easier for your surgeon and you. Talk to your bariatric surgeon for their recommendation and don't let this stop you from becoming a healthier you!

    sore muscles

OMG! Me too. It just started when I went back to work. I took two weeks off from work starting on 11/11/08, which is the day I was banded. I went back to work on 11/24/08 and that night I woke up with cramps in my calves. I saw the doctor yesterday and was told to really watch my Fluid intake.

    Hello everyone

Welcome to the forum and best wishes to you with your journey. You will not regret it.
  11. Yep, me to, me to! I would like to lose 10 pounds by New Years Eve. That would put me at 218, which I have not seen in years. It is a goal I can achieve with support.

    Ready to be banded

How exciting for you. Congrats! And good luck. :grouphug:
  13. I have a 10cc band, which the doctor prefilled with 3cc during the surgery. I was banded on 11/11/08 and have lots of restriction. Water goes down easliy, but when I eat food I can feel when it is time to stop.

    How long DOES it take?

After I completed all the insurance requirements, plus all the doctor requirements, my doctor submitted everything to Blue Shield with CalPers in California on October 15 and I was approved by the insurance company on October 16. Surergy occured on 11/11/08. It went really quickly once I was approved.

    Letter to Insurance

Wow, I never heard that before. I did not have to do that. I have Blue Shield with CalPers, which is managed by Hills Physicians in California.
  17. I was banded on 11/11/08. I was 251 pre-op and I am now 228 post. I lost 12 pounds post op and the rest came off during the pre-op diets. I have lost lots of inches too. I am focusing in on inches, because you can get frustrated by the scale when the numbers don't go down. As far as pain, yes I was in pain, which was managed by pain meds. I stayed in the hospital for 2.5 days, because of pain management issues. While at home recovering, I had the normal issues gas, diarreah, and some soreness. I felt normal by day 7 and was driving and shopping by day 7. I went back to work on 11/24/08 and I am glad I scheduled 2-weeks off from work. For me, this was just the right amount of time off for my recovery. However, there are people on this forum who go back to work sooner. Good luck!

    Got banded 12/25

Hello, my doctor said I can only take small size pills. Large pilss must be cut in half. However, my doctor gave me liquid Loritab. Plus, I bought liquid Tylenol ahead of time just in case. It sounds as though you are doing well with the pill. If you believe it is a mistake, call your doctor's office. I know it's Thanksgiving Day, but they will have either an emergency number you can call or a message service. Doctors work 24/7. If they are not available they have someone else available for when they are not. Good luck.

Trying to not be bummed out!

Did you ask your doctor if it is normal to have a fill 8 weeks out from surgery? My doctor does them 6-weeks out. I had surgery 11/11/08 and if I need a fill it will happen the week of Christmas. It doesn't hurt to ask if you think you might need a little fill before January.
  21. 1. How many people have you banded? 2. How many slippages have you had? 3. What training have you had? 4. What do you recommend for me? Band or by-pass? 5. What other tests do I need to complete? 6. Is there an over night stay in the hospital? 7. Do you have a preference of bands? 8. What is your fill policy? 9. How often will I see you for aftercare? 10. Do you personally do the fills or does a nurse/PA do this? There are so many other questions, but these will help begin the process. Good luck!

    When I eat.

I had nonfat sf plain yogurt this morning and it gave me that feeling like I have a steak stuck in my chest. Crazy. I feel more restricted in the morning when I wake up, so I try not to eat first thing, but this morning I didn't follow my rule and I had the yogurt first thing. I am on the mushie stage and it is weird how I react to different foods with the band.
  23. Congrats! I don't know how you went back to work so quickly. More power to you. As far as the graphics, this link might help. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f18/new-site-57468/
