    Seriously?!?!?

Wow, you were just banded, so give yourself a break. You are still healing. And the great news is that you have not gained anything. I bet you have lost inches. I don't think you should compare yourself to others on the forum, because each person is different. Thus far, I have lost 25 pounds. 10 pounds pre-op and 15 pounds post op. I have lost lots of inches, which I track. I am down two pant sizes as well. I walk and walk. Right after surgery I was walking, not far, but was walking. Now I am back on the treadmill and walking at an incline. Plus lifting small free weights for upper body.
  2. Hello: It was okay for me to bring a book to read preop, bust seriously I had no time to read. Prep for the OR was very quick and before I knew it I was in having surgery. Yes, I could bring my own blanket, but did not. The preop bed for me was just like any other hospital bed. It raised up and down and they have extra pillows and blankets to keep me warm. I really could not go home right away until we could get the pain under control. I don't tolerate pain meds very well, so I stayed in the hospital 2.5 days.
  3. My doc stated no drinks 30 minutes after a meal. The real question is, What did your doctor tell you to do? Call he or she for clarification.
  4. Wow! 44 pounds weight loss is great. Great job!

    Waiting final approval

Congrats on a the begining of a healthier you. I would recommend reading this forum and reviewing medical research about the procedure you are having. You can expect it to be a slow process and not a quick fix. But I believe slower is better. I have no regrets so far.

    Calcium nitrate?

Well, I believe since we are on a reduced calorie diet we do not get all the nutrients we need. Thus, we should be taking vitamins and calcium. Calcium of course for your bones. We don't want to become deficient as that could be detrimental to your health and recovery.

    Odd Side Effects?

I am cold too. And I live in sunny California. I am sleeping with blankets and with socks on my feet. I have never done that before. Plus, I am blasting the heater up to 80, because I feel cold around the house. Even at work in my office it feels cols, so I am wearing a sweater.

    Anyone have "The Rabbit"?

I love my Rabbit. It keeps going and going. :-)
  9. Hi, I was banded on 11/11/08 and went back to work on 11/24/08. My doctor told me I could go back to work anywhere from 1-2 weeks. I wanted 2-weeks off, just I could have some "Me Time" at home. So when I went back to my stationary job on the 24th I felt great. I was energized and was in the right frame of mind. I ended up staying in the hospital for 2.5 days. It was hard managing my pain, because I have a hard time tolerating pain meds. I wore an anti-nausea patch for several days, which helped with the pains meds. Once I was home, I took the prescribed liquid Loritab. This worked well. I slept a lot and walked a lot. The gas pain hurt, but was managed with pain meds and walking. I felt great on day 7 post-op and was driving and shopping. Good luck!

    Any suggestions Protein

I like the Isopure drinks. They have 40 grams of Protein and don't give me gas. I like the apple-mellon, orange, and grape. I also drink the New Whey bullets, again they don't give me gas, they have 42 grams of protein and I like the orange and fruit punch flavor.
  11. New Whey Protein bullets. They have 42 grams of protein, taste slimy, are 3.1 ounces. I love the orange. You can drink them cold from the fridge or room temp, so I back them in my purse when I know I am going to be out in the community and to busy to eat. I also love the Isopure drinks. They have 40 grams of protein and they are like a lightly flavored water drink. I like the grape, orange, and apple-melon. I still use these products, as they keep me full and I can make sure I get the right amount of daily protein.
  12. Yes, people noticed that I have changed my eating habits, but I tell them that I am working towards a healthier me. And they just assume it's another diet. I have not told anyone other than my sister that I had the procedure done.:cursing:
  13. I was banded on 11/11/08 and just started my power walking on 11/28/08. Right after the surgery I went for small walks around the neighborhood and they wiped me out. But I really felt energized this past week and started on my home treadmill. I feel great. I would recommend taking it slow and exercising when you feel up to it.
  14. I just finished all my classes for the 3-year Masters program I am in, but have to submit my thesis to officially graduate. I also work full time and was banded on 11/11/08. I plan ahead. I informed professors that I would be recovering from surgery, but did not disclose the medical issue. This is not the first time I have had surgery while in school, so every time I had a surgery while in school, I informed my professors. (I never disclosed the medical issue) I asked for assignments ahead of time. I e-mailed assignments back to professors and I recovered while doing homework and reading assignments. It is not easy but it can be done. For work, I took two weeks off as vacation and did not disclose that I was having surgery. It really is a personal decision whether to tell or not to tell. My friends, co-workers and family do not know that I am banded. However, I did tell my sister, just in case something happened during the surgery. In that way, my sister could help my adult children just in case something went wrong during the surgery. Good luck!
  15. Great video, but if you do the research pre-banding then you know that medical journal articles/literature pertaining to banding state no alcohol or carbonated beverages.

    I'm so disgusted with myself

You can do this. You recognized the issue and are getting back on track. Find a support group, like this forum. If you are struggling with a post op diet phase then talk to your doctor. When the hunger gets bad try liquid Protein to make you full. Products like Isopure are clear liquid and high protein. Good luck!
  17. Heathe O that is amazing that you are 1 pound from goal in less than one year. Awesome and inspiring. Great job! :cursing:

    New user

Congrats on your journey to a healthier you and great job quitting smoking.
  21. Call you doctor and tell him that your in pain. Perahps he can prescribe more of the liquid form of the pain meds.
  22. I would say, keep busy. Do lots of walking when you feel that you might fall off the wagon. Drink lots of Water. I would add fat free broth to the mix to help fill you up between Protein Drinks. Consume high Protein drinks as they tend to fill you up more. Good luck:biggrin:

    Messy subject

My doctor instructions for the bowel prep was this: The day before surgery at 2:00 pm take the liquid bowel cleanse medicine (YUK!) and then drink plenty of Clear liquids and no eating. At midnight stop all liquids. You should call your doctor for clarification. Good luck.
