  3. My doctor told me she placed and left 3ccs in my band at the time of surgery. I have great restriction right now.
  4. I am doing great. I am down 30 pounds and two pant sizes. I am back into my old clothes from a year ago and hope to move past 220 by the end of December. I am on the mushie stage. I have great restriction as the doctor put 3ccs in my band during the surgery. I left a post for you on your LBT wall.

    What to tell work?

Because of HIPPA and the availabity of FMLA, you are not required to disclose your medical condition to your employer. Now of course you will explain to your employer that you have a medical condition that requires you to either be away from work for a period of time and/or time off for intermitten doctor appointments. As an example, I had my doctor complete my FMLA form confirming that I was under medical care and would need time off work. I submitted this form to my HR department. The form does not state what the issue is. I actually took vacation time for two weeks for the surgery. No one at work knows what I did other than I need time off for medical appointments and lab work. Likewise my family, coworkers and friends do not know what I did. I did however tell my sister in case something went wrong with the procedure so she could help my adult children if need be. I hope the information helps you.

    December Exercise Challenge

Today: 45 minute walk tread mill with incline of 3% at 1.5 miles. Plus upper body work out with light free weights.
  12. Hello Amy: Welcome to LBT. I was banded on 11/11/08 and I have no regrets. I did have a slight complication. During surgery my spleen began to bleed slightly. After surgery, I had to have my blood drawn every three hours to make sure blood cell count was at the proper level. Additionally, I had a difficult time with the pains meds while in the hospital. My one night stay turned into 2.5 days in the hospital. I was okay with that, because I really was not ready to go home. By day 7 post op I was doing GREAT! I started driving, shopping and doing light chores all on day 7. I went back to work on 11/24/08 and felt really GREAT. I was not tired, I felt energetic, and was in no pain. I am now working out on the treadmill at home and working out with very light free weights for my upper body. I am on the mushie phase of my post op diet. I have great restriction, because my doctor pre-filled me with 3ccs at time of surgery. Total weight loss pre-op diet and post op diet is 29 pounds. Good luck!

    Psych Eval

Wow! a 3 hour consult. Are you really going to talk to the therapist for 3-hours? Is that 3-hours all in one day? I spoke to my assigned therapist for about 30 minutes then I had to complete form with about 200 true/false questions, which took and an hour to complete.
  15. Get back on track. Keep your focus. You have worked way to hard to get to where you are now. Your lucky your doctor only gave you a 4 day pre-op diet. My preop was 14 days.

    Where is port?

Look for the largest incision and you will locate your port. My port was placed on my left sound above the bell button.
  17. Cograts on moving forward with the Lapband. Hey and great job losing so much weight already.

    What can happen?

You cand do this, so just start back on the appropriate phase you should be on. I asked my doctor details on this subject. She stated the same thing as restlessmonkey's doctor stated. Plus my doctor said that the little pouch can only hold so much. After surgery, if I go straight to foods instead of following the stages, I take the risk of filling the little pouch, which causes it to be heavy, which can cause it to slip through the band. The sutures need time to heal, so stay on the proper phase diet as your doctor directs you. :-)
  19. Hello Brittany: Time is going to fly by for you. Congrats on taking the steps to becoming a healthier you. It is the best gift you could give yourself this holiday season. Good luck!

    Encouragement needed!!!

Hey cheering4tide, Hang in there. You will get through this one day at a time. I know, because I am right there with you. I was banded on 11/11/08 and had the same feelings as you. What the heck did I do?? But it really does get better. Really, it does! I started feeling great 7-days post op. On the seventh day, I started driving, shopping, and doing light household chores. Try and go for walks outside away from the fridge. If it is to cold outside, then walk around the house. Stay away from the t.v. because there are way to many food commercials projected. Rent movies or borrow dvds from a friend. Chat on this forum to keep yourself occupied. Make sure you get your fluids in and Protein will help make you feel full. Isopure is at GNC and they have great coolaid type flavors with 40 grams of protein and low-carbs.
  21. Hi I am 5'5" tall and pre band I was 251 pounds. Pre-diet 241 pounds and today I am 222 according to my scale at home this morning. Total loss of 29 pounds. I totaly did this to become healthy. Look I am no spring chicken. The older I get the harder it gets to lose the weight. Plus, I just kept gaining and gaining weight. High blood pressure, diabetes, thryroid issues, plus being over weight are prevelant in my family. I wanted to stop the cycle, take control and live an active healthy life.
