  1. Hello Doreen: So sorry you are going through this and congrats on all your weight loss. When was your last fill? It sounds like your fill is to tight and you need to call the doctor for a consult. I hope you get better soon
  2. You will get there. It takes time, but we all get there eventually. I did get my fill today. I definitely feel a difference. I had 3cc at surgery and some how lost .5cc. The doctor pull the Fluid out today to see what was in there. Shen then put that back and inserted another 1.5cc. I now have 4cc. I am on fluids today and tomorrow.

    Pre-op Doctor's appointment

My advice is to keep moving forward with your pursuit of WLS. If your primary care doctor will not support your efforts to gain a healthy life, then find a new PC. Do this for you. It is that important and don't give up!

    scared of being thin?

This is a great question and I think about it alot. I know how people attended to me when I was slender and I know how they treat me when I am over weight. All I know for sure, is that my weight loss is gradual, so I can wrap my head around the differences occuring physically and mentally. I have a great support system of people who love me thin and fat, so they will help me with the process.:tt1:

    Considering LapBand

Hello Jill114, I am newly banded and have lost 30 pounds thus far. 10 pre-op and 20 post op. I do not have sore ankles anymore and my right knee no longer hurts, because of the weight loss. I am able to exercise more frequently and for longer periods of time. I have dropped two pant sizes and have so much energy. I am amazed at the difference 30 pounds less can make on my physical and mental health. I have no regrets with my decision to be banded. :tt1: Good luck with your journey.
  7. Hi Hoosatiger: We were banded on the same date. I have mysecond follow up appointment this morning. And I am hungry. After I eat, I am satisified for about two to three hours top. But before I would be satisified for about 4-5 hours. I am going to be for a fill today, but I doubt they will give it to me. I was told the first fill at my doctor's office is 6-weeks post op, but the doctors are taking vacations so the actual first fill will not be until 1/14/09. I cannot wait that long.:tt1:

    What was your "Moment"?

It was a quality of life moment for me. I knew I just could not continue to keep going on like this. I was laways very active as a teenager and twenty-something woman. Jogging every day and lfting weights, but then work, school, and family took up my time and my weight just kept going up. I could not jog. My right knew hurt. My ankles were sore. My thyroid went crazy. I was a mess. Then I looked at my mom and thought, if I do something now, I will be as unhealthy as she is now. I want to be active and healthy, so I made the decision. And I am so happy I am banded. 30-pounds down and I can walk and it does not hurt. My knee does not hurt and my ankles are not sore. I don't have back spasms any more. I feel so much better and look for to the New Year.
  18. Every morning when I get up, my band feels really tight. No pain involved, but I feel pressure and tightness. I do not eat first thing in the morning, because of it. I drink warm tea or coffee and head off to work. I then eat breakfast at work...by then I am not as tight.
  19. I am not sure, but I have Blue Shield of California and I started the 6-month supervised diet January 2008. I went once a month and the primary care doctor did not submit my information to the insurance company until August 2008, which to me is 8-months of supervised dieting.

10 days to go before the band

Hello Linda: Start walking a lot now to help with your surgery recovery. Start getting use to the liquid diet regiment, but substituting a meal with broth. And keep researching the procedure. Good luck!

    oops

I measure my food as well, but I stop eating when I am full. I really pay attention to signals and give myself time to eat. There are times that I have some left over food, which I measured.

    Where's your port

My port is about four inches from the belly button, but to my left side. It is below my waist. No were near the bra area. I cannot feel it...the scar does not bother me.

    My day has come!!

I really didn't bring anything to the hospital other than the clothes on my back, cell phone, chapstick, ID card, and insurance card. I would just plan ahead for when you come home from the hospital. Mkae sure you have plenty of fluids, liquid tylenol, broth, sf popcycles... stuff like that. Good luck with your surgery.
