Yuko. No I did not have to give myself an enemia, but I did have to take a the milk of magnesia, which was bad. After I drank this, I was told to stay on liquids only. No drinking after midnight. Surgery was first thing in the morning.

Hi: I started getting really hungry on week three too! So I know what you are going through. I was eating solids, but I was not sated. I started snacking and could not get the hunger under control. I increased my workouts to burn the extra calories I was consuming. I did not gain, but was not losing weight either. On my four week check up with my doctor I shared my concerns that I could not wait until January 14 for a fill. (My doctor likes to do the first fill 6-weeks post op, but she is on Holiday break, so the soonest I could get a fill was 1/14/08.) Since I had been doing really well and my blood lab work looked great, she filled me during the 4-week post op visit. Thank goodness she did, other wise I would not be able to control my hunger. I have 4cc in a 10cc band and this fill has helped dimish my appetite. If I need another fill, I can have one during the January 14 doctor's appointment. January 21 is a long time to wait for a fill, especially since you are three weeks out. Bandster hell is no fun. Talk to your doctor and see if he/she would be willing to do a fill before January 21. It cannot hurt to ask.

Wow talking about going to the polar opposite. It must be really frustrating for you and uncomfortable. Call your doctor and get a slight unfill. You should not be throwing up and you definitely need to be able to drink fluids. I am sorry to hear this is happening to you. Take care.

I was allowed to drive one-week post op. I felt great and was commuting all over the place. By that time I was off all pain killers too.

I was banded on 11/11/08 and have not drank any alcohol. I will have a glass of something to toast the New Year in! As far as what to expect when you wake up. The recovery nurse will ask if you are in pain and will give you pain meds if you are uncomfortable. They will ask you how you are doing and monitor your vital signs. Eventually, you will be sent to your room if you are staying over night. If staying over night, you can expect to start walking within a couple of hours. You will also have a barium swallow test to make sure you can take fluids in without any issues. If you are not spending the night, then you can expect to start walking, having your barium test, get dressed, and go home. Your doctor should have told you what to expect, if not call them and find out.

Questions...surgery 2 TWO days away!!!
TQUAD64 replied to TRN87's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have lost 21 pounds post op. The only Protein drinks I can tolerate are the Isopure and the New whey Bullets. These are fruity and kind of remind me of kool aid without the sugar. I really did not start tracking calories until I started the regular food stage. At that point, I was eating anywhere from 1,000 to 1,200 calories a day. I use Sparkpeople.com to track my intake. I try very hard not to eat beyond 1,200 calories a day. It is easier for me to eat less, because of the fills. Besides tracking calories, I track my protein intake to make sure I am getting enough daily from regular food. If I am running low, then I will drink one Isopure or Bullet. Good luck to you! -
Hi: I am not 50, but getting there. Anyway, check out the forum for age groups on thise site. Here is the link for the 50 group. Fifties - Lap Band Surgery and Lap Band Discussion Forum Good luck.

Very embarrasing moment ends in hope
TQUAD64 replied to poodles.me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sorry this happened to you. And I have total empathy for you as I have been in your shoes. I have terrible balance issues because of my weight. It does not take much for me to go from standing up right to being on the ground. Example, last year I am walking on the pier with my new expensive camera in front of hundreds of people. And what do you know, I step on something that throws my balance off and I hit the ground hard. I took a hard hit, but saved the camera. However, my dignity was damaged. Talk about embarrassing. I felt so huge and insignificant. Luckily people passing by came to my aid and offered assistance. I knew I had to get this weight under control and get my life back. I am so glad I was banded. It will be the best gift you can give yourself. -
What made you decide on getting banded?
TQUAD64 replied to lilacbutterflym's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me it was not wanting to end up like my mom who is very unhealthy. I wanted to regain my ability to be actively fit. And the pain in my back, shoulders, knees, and ankles was making it difficult to get around and enjoy life. -
A complete wate of money (or is something wrong)
TQUAD64 replied to Sixpack's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, from the research I have reviewed the band is a tool and it requires work on our part. The band does not take away our poor eating habits. It never promised that. But you already know this since you did your research prior to having the surgery. So perhaps connecting to a support group will help. And I don't mean this forum. I mean one in which you meet with people face to face to help you be accountable. Or maybe a counselor or a nutritionist. Are you sure your fills are staying in?? Does your doctor pull out the old fill to see what is left before putting in new fill? Are you losing any of the fill? -
Whats so great about Lapband over conventional dieting/excersize??
TQUAD64 replied to FatManInALittleCoat's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me it is about portion control. I suck at it. Pre-band I weighed the food out and measured it, but I would eat more and more, because frankly I was hungry. I was always snacking too (head hunger). I walked too, but I really was just flipping hungry all the time. Post band, and mind you I am a newbie, I don't have the crazy hunger. I am satisfied with small measured portions for longer periods of time. I am not snacking. And I am back to exercising. And I have lost 30 pounds. And for someone who has dieted for the last 19 years, I decided to try the Band for what I hope are longer lasting results. -
I feel like I am on an island (Exercise Island) all by myself. Where are my exercise buddies? Who is going to motivate me and keep me in check??:tongue2: Today: 50 minute treadmill 2.10 miles at 4% incline. Upper body workout with free wights for 20 minutes.

Single bandsters - Don't you wish they...
TQUAD64 replied to loridee11's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Lori, I so know that story. I feel the same way. But I look for safe flirting zones. Sounds funny, I know, but it has to be about my comfort zone. So I look for activities that I don't dread, but I have the opportunity to meet men. I always do this with my friends with me. It always feels safer with people you know mixed with people you are getting to know. dinner parties, social gatherings, mall, lunch events, and movies are just a few of the things I do to build up my social skills with the opposite sex. -
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you too! The best thing you did was not to give up, you received a fill, and now your re-connecting to this support group. Your right back on track!

I agree, walking and a heating pad really helps.

Hello - Just joined, getting first fill 12/16
TQUAD64 replied to tenoradm's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, I was filled at surgey (11/11/08) with 3cc and had great restriction. I was give a 1.5cc fill on 12/10/08 and have REALLY great restriction. Prior to the December 10 fill, I was getting really hungry and started snacking. My weight stayed the same. No loss, but no gain. I track my calories (Sparkpeople.com) and I went from eating 1,100 calories a day to over 1,600 calories a day before the 12/10/08 fill. I shared my concerns with my surgeon and she gave me the fill on December 10. Thank goodness! I am not snacking, my daily calories are around 1,000 to 1,200 a day. I track my Protein intake every day and I am right on track. I am getting my fluids in as well. Results are different for everyone, but I just wanted to share my story with you. If I need another fill, I will get one on January 14, 09. Good luck! -
Hello Bones, Congrats on your weight loss. You give newbies like myself hope. Thanks for posting your success.

Urrrgh... Terrible ER/Slippage Day
TQUAD64 replied to SnowWhite760's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, so sorry to hear this. And 4cc on a first fill seems very aggressive. Insist that your doctor do a barium swallow test to make sure everything is okay. Why take a chance. -
So many variations!
TQUAD64 replied to thinkingslim70's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree, the variations are just odd and confusing, especially when you read all the posts on this forum. The best any of us can do is follow our doctor's instructions.:tongue2: -
During the liquid post op diet phase, my doctor allowed me sf non-fat yogurt and nonfat milk, which really helped a lot. Ask your doctor if he/she will allow you to move forward to these types of products.

No alcohol for one year?
TQUAD64 replied to redmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor did not give me that rule. I was told moderation is the key, because alcohol is empty calories. I will ring in the New Year with a some type of "Cup of Good Cheer." -
Hi Teresa: I am trying to stay warm. I have a big pot of chicken/turkey chili simmering on the stove this cold Sunday morning.
I am doing well. I am feeling drained, but I think it has something to do with my increased workouts and the cold is around our office too.
I had my first fill last week, which went really well. No pain. I actually talked to Helen the whole time, while Dr. Kim placed the needles in my stomach. The first needle was a numbing agent and the second needle was the fill.
I lost .5cc from the surgery fill. At the time of surgery, Dr. Kim placed 3cc in, but last week should took the fill out to see what was left. And all that was left was 2.5cc. She put that back in and added 1.5cc. I now have 4cc and great restriction.
Let me know how your appointment goes with the doctor. It is very exciting!!! Good luck.

Today: I need some organge juice, because I am feeling a little bit run down. 54 minutes on the treadmill at 4% to 5% incline 2.05 miles. I am going to crawl in bed and nip the begining of this cold in the bud.
