  1. I am not into high Protein low carb diets. I am into nutritionally proportioned meals. I like meat, fruits, veggies, and fat. If I were to eat only protein, my body would not be healthy. I track my calories, Vitamins, Water, fat, protein, and carbs at Sparkpeople.com. It is a free web site. If the ladies want to support you, I would recommend they consume well rounded meals, which include items from the food groups. I would also pay attention to serving sizes. We Americans tend to distort what a real serving size is.

    December Exercise Challenge

Jachut, a beach house sounds lovely right now. Lulu, I am getting my RX after work today. Thank goodness it is Friday. I have been working late at work, then with the commute it is hard to get my personal stuff done (exercise and errands). Anyway, back on track by tomorrow. Yesterday: No exercise late work night.
  3. Keep drinking the fluids, so you can keep hydrated. It is really important to keep slipping fluids.
  4. Hi Lynda: Welcome LBT. Hopefully your insurance will cover the procedure, because it really is worth it. I was nervous too, but I am glad I had the procedure done. I really feel great and I am looking forward to a healthier me. Good luck with the journey.
  5. I am not familar with Kaiser, but can you get a second opinion? Can you switch doctors? Find a Kaiser doctor who is more supportive of the procedure?
  6. We all my mistakes. The important thing is to get back on track. Start following your doctor's orders. Please call your doctor and tell them about the hunger you are having. They might move you to the next phase. Increase your liquid Protein intake. Isopure fruit flavor drinks are great. And the have 40 grams of protein. They help with the hunger. Find a support group besides this forum. You need to talk to people in person if possible. People who have gone through the process. Bandster Hell is not fun. It is really hard to deal with. Hang in there. You can make it, because we went through it too. Good luck!

What is the fastest way to INCREASE my Iron?

The only fast way I know to build up my iron is taking an iron tables every day, which I do. I do this to stay healthy, but also because I donate blood to the local blood bank.
  8. My diet is just a regular diet of food, just a lot lot less of it. Meat, fruit, milk, vegetables. I do track calories!

    my fill

I have heard it take three to four fills to get that full feeling. Right now, I do have the full feeling. It does not take much food to make me feel full. My doctor is very agressive with fills. She placed 3cc in my 10cc band at surgery. And 1.5cc at 4-week post op.

    December Exercise Challenge

Okay now I know why I am so drained. I have forgotten to take my thryoid medicine for the last 7days. I called the refill into the Pharmacy and total forgot to pick it up. How crazy is that? :huh2: No one wonder my stamnia is defunct. So I will get my RX start taking my pills and get my energy back.

    December Exercise Challenge

It is never to late to post your exercise on the monthly challenge thread. Usually Lulu or Ceradad starts the new monthly thread the first day of the month. There are no rules. When you have time, when you remember post the exercise that you did for the day. You set you own goals. We challenge each other. Good luck!

    Ladies with large chests...

I am losing inches galore from the waist down, but when it comes to above nothing is diminishing. Now true, I just started the journey and I do have a ways to go, but these 42 D breasts are killing me. Once I am at goal weight, I am having the "Girls" lifted and reduced.

Do you pay all at once, or as you go?

I have Blue Shield of California. My doctor visits are $15.00, which is my co-pay. I did not pay anything for my nutrition visits or any of the classes I was required to attend. My lab work and upper GI was covered and I did not pay anything for those procedures. My fills are $15.00, which is my co-pay to see the doctor. Only the doctor does the fill in my particular case.

    now what

It does take a long time. I started this journey officially in January 2008. And was banded in November 2008. I am just thankful to have great insurance, which paid 100% of the procedure. It does take a long time, but it is so worth the wait! Hang in there. Your turn will be here before you know it.

What I Love About the LAPBAND

I agree with sistasassy. I eat what I ate before but so much less. My calorie intake is less than 1,200a day, before the band it was around 3,500 calories a day. I can exercise and enjoy it now. Before it was a chore and it was hard with the excess weight. 32 Pounds gone and so much more to go, but I am looking forward to the journey.

    christmas temptations

The Sees Candy is fyling around the office and yes I have had a couple of peices. I do indulge in sweets, but not to the extent before pre-band. Pre-band, I would have ate the whole damn box 1-pound box. Post band, I am satisified with one or two pieces. Moderation is key, plus exercise to burn those holiday calories.

    Nervous !!!

How exciting to be banded on New Years Eve. Great way to start off the New Year! I remember being nervous too! Wondering if this was going to work or is this just another one of those weight loss schemes that will fail. It is natural to be nervous and wondering if this is really going to work. I was banded in November and thus far I have lost 32 pounds. I am very pleased and look forward to a healthier New Year. I have no regrets and have no doubt that you will be pleased with your decision to have the surgery. Good luck!

    Count calories or carbs?

I have been told a calorie is a calorie whether it is comes from Protein or a carb. Carbs tend to have more calories. And they usually involve some type of processed sugar. Not all carbs are like this, such as fruit and those found in veggies. Processed carbs tend to not satisfy your hunger, do not fill you up, and leave you more hungry than before. Track your calories. There are free web sites out there that track how many calories, carbs, and protein your consumed food items contain. It is a real eye opener.

    Banded 1 week ago- questions

I would get terrible leg cramps...only at night while I was sleeping. OMG they hurt and would wake me up out of a dead sleep. The soreness I felt the next day was like I just ran a marathon. My doctor told me to increase my Fluid intake (water) and that really helped. I was hungry a week after banding. Drink you Protein and keep up with your fluids. This will help diminish your hunger. I could not drink Protein shakes, but really did well with Isopure clear fruit flavored drinks at 40 grams of protein.
  20. Keep up the good work! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
  21. I have the same problem too. I never had this issue pre-band, but now it is out of control. I have to run to the restroom constantly. Gas X does not help me. I am wondering if there is an RX the doctor can give for this?

    Virus or band problem?

Well it is the season for the virus bug to rear its ugly symptons. :-(. I would keep my appointment tomorrow. You are keeping fluids and food down. You can tlk to your doctor about you queazt stomach and together decide if you should move forward with the fill.

    Phentermine?

I have been on Fen Phen back in the day. And then just on the phentermine. I am now banded. For me the banding is not the same as taking phentermine. Phentermine made me not hungry, but jittery. I was basically, not eating. With the Band I do not have jitters, nor do I worry about complications to my heart. I do get hungry with the Band. But it is a hunger that is easily satisfied with small portions of food. I feel healthy with the Band, something I did not feel with phentermine. My blood pressure with the Band is considered normal... My blood pressure with the phentermine not normal. When I stopped taking the phentermine, I gradually gained the weight back. With the Band, I expect to have long term weight loss, which will not be gained back as long as I follow the Band Rules. Anyway, that is just my two cents worth of perspective. :-)

    change of heart

As far as nausea, I had that while in the hospital for 2.5 days. I have a difficult time with pain meds, which make me nauseated. An anti-nausea patch behind the ear did the trick. Plus, the doctor gave me extra Patches for home. Once I stopped the pain meds I was no longer nauseated. I have never felt sick to my stomach after eating or after a fill. Dumping syndrome is associated to gastric banding patients. Products that are high sugar are not easily digestible, thus the product flows right out of the digestive track into the bowels, and out of the patients system as massive diarrhea. You can do a Google search and the other symptons of dumping.
