  1. LOL, I heard this as well. Hmmmm lets see , how much Protein is really there???
  2. Well two hours after surgery I was required to start walking and I did all the time. It was a very slow walk, but gradually I picked up the pace. Two weeks and 4 days after surgery, I started power walking and lifting light weights. I felt great at that time as was ready to go. My doctor stated I could exercise with light weights and power walks two weeks post op. No Marathons or anything like that.
  3. I started back to drinking a ProSlam45 Bullets. They are slimy, taste good to me, are 3.1 oz, and have 45 grams of Protein. They have 190 calories, 2 carbs and no sugar. They help me feel full longer, because right now I need a fill! My fill is next week.
  4. Hi:

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a type of bacteria. Researchers believe that H. pylori is responsible for the majority of peptic ulcers. The test is done with a stool sample provided by the patient.

    Good luck!

7 hours, Emergency room and me

Babbs, I so feel your pain. I am sorry you are going through this. I had always been complaining to the male OB doctors that my heavy flows during TOM were just not right. That something was wrong, but I could not get them to hear me. So in 1996, I won a trip to the emergency room and guess what, something was wrong. Plus, I was in so much pain. When they finally did the operation, I had a cyst the size of a grape fruit. Oh yeah, I was the talk of the hospital. Everyone, from the local medical field came to see the grape-fruit size cyst. (I knew there was something wrong) Anyway, they removed my uterus with the huge cyst and left both ovaries in. So guess what happens next??? Yep, in 1997 a big old cyst grows on the right ovary. They go back in and do another surgery to remove the cyst, but they leave the ovaries in. So guess what happens again??? Yep, In 1998 and 1999 cysts and surgeries again. And yes both ovaries are still in. The doctors say it is better to deal with the cyst rather than hormonal replacement therapy. All I know Babbs is that a woman knows when something is wrong. I can feel the cysts on my ovaries before the doctor can see them on the ultra-sound. That is how painful they are and I am so sorry your are enduring that pain. Not the way to start the New Year! :-(

    What the Heck????

Wow 50 pounds already, Great job! I understand your frustration, but it sounds like your body is getting use to your exercise routine. Try adding weights to your walk. Hills and inclines work best to boost your body into a different direction during exercise. Try and shorten the time it takes you to complete the two mile walk. It will help. I already lost three pant sizes from exercise and tracking calories, along with the Band of course.
  7. Way too funny! LOL you just made my day!:grouphug:

    January 2009 Exercise Challenge

Today: Just arrived home from work, so I don't have time to exercise. Again, another accident on blood alley took the lives of a child and adult, :sad:which delayed my home time.

I count calories, weigh my food, and exercise like crazy.

    help exercise question

I don't know if that is true or not, but I would ask my doctor. I am too scared to do a push up. I don't want my port to move or flip.

    Can you eat anything?

I can eat anything, but a lot less of it. I do need a fill, because I am getting hungrier a lot sooner after a meal. I have had two fills, thus far with 4.cc in a 10cc band. The best part of the Band for me, is that I eat the same foods as before, but a whole less of those foods. My calories with a good fill average 1,200 a day. But when I need a fill (like I need one now) I can eat around 1,400-1,500 calories a day. I get my third fill next week.

    Post fill diet

My doctor states for me. 2-day liquids, 2-days mushies, and then regular
  13. I love watching medical shows and seeing other people having procedures done, but I just don't think I could inject myself with a big needle. However, this topic is just fascinating to me. I just started reading about it on a couple of other threads.

    Second Fill...owie

I would ask about how much was left from the previous fill. I lost .5cc from the first fill. I have my third fill on January 14 and if there is more missing I will be asking why? Especially if there is a lot missing. I hope your fill works for you.

    Surgery Monday - Sniffles

I started off this week with sneezing and head cold. I had to go to work and commute too. But every night this week when I arrived home I crawled into bed and rested. No exercise, lots of fluids, Water OJ, and Vitamins. All I can say is get as much rest as you possibly can and let your body recover from whatever it is you caught. Resting really helps. Plus, fluids works wonders too. If you cannot drink OJ, then take Vitamin C. I really hope you get your surgery!!!
  16. Twiggysmiff you are so normal. I have had 12 surgeries and it never gets easier. When I was in the prep room for surgery, I thought in my mind, what if I just bale out of this right now. I can make my great escape and get out of here. But then I thought, I am so worth this effort to become a healthy vibrant woman. I am so worth saving, so I had the procedure. And it was the best gift I could ever give myself. Your fears are normal. You will be okay, because you picked a surgeon you trust. Plus, you have the support of so many amazing people on this forum. So go for it and don't let fear take your chance for a healthy new life. Best of luck!
  17. I am on the fence on this one. I am just really curious.

I've got to ask this ...

I was eating about 3,000 to 3,500 calories a day. I was always hungry. Before the band, I could eat a whole box of Sees candy, the whole 1-pound box in one sitting. Today, I am satisified with one peice of Sees candy. Before band, I could eat half a chicken with all the fixings. Today, I can eat a chicken thigh and some veggies and I am full. The hunger I had before the Band just was never satisfied. I was always hungry. With the band and my fills I can eat a small meal and feel full for 5-6 hours. I am not grazing and snacking. Because the Band allows me to feel full for longer periods of time with less food, I have been able to lose 30 pounds. Because I lost 30 pounds, I have less weight on my joints so now it does not hurt to exercise. Because I have less weight on my frame I am able to do more activities. :grouphug:

    Restaurant rage

Happy anniversary! Sorry your going through this right. Perhaps you are to tight with your fill. Maybe you need more time adjusting to this latest fill. I have two fills with 4.5cc in a 10cc band and I can eat everything, but in very small portions.

    new to this site

I would call my insurance company to see if they cover it before startiing the process.
  22. Hello: It was last January, when I started the process to get banded and when it was done, I was banded in November 2008. I have Blue Shield of California and they require a 6-month supervised diet. Not to mention several other requirements. Plus, I had to have a letter from my primary care doctor and I needed to complete all of the surgeon's requirements. It is a long frustrating process, but well worth the journey. Don't give up... because you deserve a healthy life.

    Banded on 1/7/09-SO TIRED

It will pass. Hang in there. I felt human on day 7-post op. That is when I was energized, shopping, and driving. Right now just rest and heal. Good luck!
  24. Denise this is really hard and we have all been through it, but seriously follow your doctor's orders. Your stomach is healing from surgery. You cannot have anything solid or mushy digesting in your stomach right now, because your stitches are healing. I found myself feeling really hungry as well, so I called my doctor and stated so. They allowed me to have yogurt and milk, but that was my doctor's directives for me. So call your doctor. Don't take a chance with your health and don't chance the possibility of your band slipping.
  25. My Protein Drinks were Isopures and Bullets. Bullets have about 45 grams of protein and Isopure has 40 grams they fill me up and do not give me gas or diarrhea. And they are low carbs.
