  1. I felt terrible 72-hours out, but I had complications. However, I have read lots of posts on this forum that people go back to work in 72-hours, so barring no complications you should be good. I am so sorry for your loss. This is a difficult time for you. When a love one dies, people have a tendency to go on auto-pilot; forgetting to feel their emotions. Part of our emotions involve pain and being tired. Thus, please make sure you don't over exert yourself. If you become tired or are in pain, excuse yourself from activities. Your health and care are important to everyone. Good luck with your surgery.
  2. It's water retention. It will pass and you will get your life back. I am so glad I had a hysterectomy done in 1996.
  3. I am not a nutritionist and I have not had this discussion with my nutritionist. But the professional health care person leading our bariatric support group stated that they are not worried if you are only consuming 600 to 800 calories in a day. She stated that they are really concerned that you get 80 to 90 grams of protein in a day if you are a woman, plus everyone must, absolutely must, take all their vitamins.

    Getting noticed

Yep, it's happening to me too. At first, I thought maybe it was in my head, but I guys are actually looking. 30 pounds down and much more to go, but it is nice that people are noticing the weight loss.

    Lap-ban questions.

Well, my doctor does not recommend straws, gum, coffee, or carbonated drinks. I agreed to everything but coffee. Sorry, but I will not give it up and she knows I won't give it up.
  6. You don't have to give specific information if you don't want to. Tell her something vague like the other posters suggested.
  7. Our professor in our health class said they should float, which means you are getting your fiber.
  8. That is scary that your fill turned out that way. I had a fill today and it is always in the back of my mind, what if when I leave everything goes haywire. I am always in a rush to get out of the fill station and back to work, but now reading your post I am going to start taking it very slow. Thanks for posting this.

    hole...

How are they going to fix this? My doctor takes all the old fill out, measures it and puts it back in.
  12. I don't think about it. The only time I know it's there is when I have a fill and I have restriction.

    PM snacking... help!!!

Hi Brenda: Here is what I do. I keep raw almonds with me for my in between meal snacks. I keep them in purse as well, just in case there is a long meeting or I get stuck for hours in commute traffic. I increase my protein intake with a some liquid type supplement. This helps keep me full and works great when I am in between fills. Exercise when I am board and want to start snacking. I stop watching t.v. which always makes me hungry. All those darn food commercials.

    January 2009 Exercise Challenge

Today: I can do anything with my new Ipod!!! Today started jogging and combined power walk. 2.35 miles 4% incline with free weights for 50 minutes. Tomorrow is my fill, please let it be a good one.
  16. OMG!!! LOL After a very long labor (second baby) with an epidural, the male doctor says we are going to shut off your meds so you can feel the contraction. That way you can push when the contraction comes. I remember screaming OMG someone give me back my epidural they are trying to kill me...Then I remember screaming get him out!!!!!!!!!!!! The whole ward could hear me. They wheeled me into the OR and did a c-section. I remember yelling at the doctor while he was doing the c-section, "I told you we should had did this in the first place." How embarrassing to yell at a doctor when they have a scalpel on ya.

    Two weeks to go!

Wow, what a great sibling support system you have going on. Best of luck to you and your sister!
  19. Hi Judy and welcome to LBT. I had terrible knee and ankle pain too. It was hard to walk and I would fall a lot. It was actually scary trying to balance all the weight and walk at the same time. Anyway, I am 8-weeks post op and 30 pounds lighter. I don't have the knee or ankle pain anymore. I am exercising like crazy, which I know helps lubericate my joints. You won't regret your decision to have the band. Good luck!

I am envious. I so want to get back to jogging. But I am just not there yet. I want to get to 200 pounds before I start a jogging program. But you go girl!!!! Great job
  23. Bigpapa. I learned a long time ago that you don't give advice unless someone specifically asks you for it. If they wanted to talk bariatric post care with you they would have.

    Weights?

I started using light weights abour three weeks post-op. My doctor stated for me that was okay. I have not had any problems.
  25. a 42 pound loss is awesome I had a fill on December 10, 2008 and it was great for two weeks. Then I lost that feeling. I go back for another fill this week. I am no where near the sweet spot yet, but I know I will get there. So will you.
