    -11

Yikes! No more complaining about cold weather here in Nor Cal. -11 is just wrong in so many ways. I hope everything goes well with the sleep doc.
  3. Hi apple: It sounds like your healing normally. Thank goodness you are getting all your liquids in. Hunger is to be expected, so this is reallt the challenging time for you. Follow your doctor's instructions and you will be okay. Congrats on your surgery. It is the perfect way to start the New Year off.

    The Fill Port

My port is on the far left side and about three inches above the belly button. I know it's there, but I don't touch that area. I know that sounds crazy, but I just don't go there. When I shower, I let the soapy Water run over that area. Ridiculous, I know.

    Feeling confused...

Amjohnson: Congrats on getting the band and committing yourself to the journey of health. Thank goodness you found this forum, because you will find lots of people who support you in your efforts. Be patient with yourself as you heal and learn how to work the Band. It is not a race and everyone has a different experience with the Band. Gradual weight loss is the best way to go, so your mind can catch up to your body. Exercise has been key to my rapid inches lost. Notice I did not say weight. I have dropped 3 pant sizes already and I am close to going to the next lower size. When you increase your exercise you build muscle and muscle weighs more. So pay closer attention to how your clothes fit and how many inches you are losing rather than the number on the scale. You will get there, just give yourself a chance! Best wishes!

    How to tell your parents???

I have not told my parents. My mom has been trying to get the bypass surgery. She has had insurance issues. Because, my WLS process was so quick and she has been struggling for so long, I just don't have the heart to tell her. I have not told anyone, other than my sis. And I only told her in case something bad were to happen. She is my emergency contact person. I would suggest telling your mom all your health issues and why it is so important to have this surgery. Their your parents. They will still worry about you and continue to love you. Take it from a mom who has a 24 yeard old girl and a 19 year old son. We worry about you regardless of how old you are. Best regards!
  8. I had my third fill yesterday. On fill 2 and 3 I felt restriction immediately. That is, I felt it when the doctor was filling me. I am very tight right now and I am on liquids for 2 days then mushies for 2 more days. Although I have immediate restriction, I do get hunrgy. I just cannot eat much. I drink liquid proetin bullets to stave off my hunger. They really do help.

    Dumb Question About Port

It is the bigger one on me, which is to the far left of my belly, but about three inches above my belly button.
  10. Me to Heather. I didn't even think about it until I read this thread, but yes, coughing and sneezing would cause an issue for me pre-band.

    First Fill to Work?????

Are you getting your fluids down okay? If fluids are going down okay, I would say eat slower and chew chew chew before you swallow. Your stomach is trying to get use to this new fill, so perhaps sticking to fluids or mushies right now, before solids. My doctor has us do two days fluids and two days mushies, before we have solids.
  12. I had restriction after surgery, because my doctor placed 3cc in my 10cc band during the surgery. Everyone is different as far as restriction is concerned.
  13. I have been filled three times, once at surgey, so that really does not count, but twice while I was awake. I never look at needles going into me. Oh I can look at other people getting shots or having blood drawn, but not me. Anyway, my doctor gives me a numbing agent with a small needle prior to the fill. I have seen this needle, but have not seen it inserted into my stomach. Then my doctor has me do a sit up or stomach crunch with my head pointed upward, so she can locate the port. When I am in that position, I can not see the needle she uses to insert the Fluid. Nor do I want to see it. P.S. I never feel any pain when I get my fills. Good luck with everything!
  14. Aubrie: Before I was banded, I would get up two or three times a night to use the restroom. Plus, I was always running to the bathroom during the day. Honestly, I thought that was normal, because I had given birth to two babies. Anyway, my bariatric doctor told me it was not normal and it could be considered a qualifying factor for bariatric surgery. She told me that once I had the surgery and started losing the weight, I would notice a difference with my bladder. My doctor was right in my case. Once I had the surgery and lost 30 pounds, my bladder problems resolved. I don't get up in the middle of the night anymore, so I am able to get a good nights rest. And I drink lots of Fluid. So go figure. I really consider myself lucky to have had this procedure.

    January 2009 Exercise Challenge

We miss ya too, welcome back.
  18. As someone who works with addicts with substance abuse issues, I would suggest getting help from your doctor. We work with people who use illegal drugs and it is just not healthy for the person or their family. Again, if the original poster went through the trouble of getting the band to have a healthy life-style why would they smoke?
  19. There might be a lot things we can do with the Band, but we choose not to do for health reasons. Smoking is an addiction that is hard to quit, but why start it up the minute after surgery. Cannot you work with your doctor to find something at helps you quit?

    first blog

    Great job!
  21. Yes, hang in there. My doctor had me drinking 1 oz of Fluid every 15-minutes right after surgery. It is had at the begining, but it does get better. Congrats on your surgery!
  22. I drink bullets every morning before my commute to work. I like the the flavors, they fit in my purse, and their easy to slam down when I am rushed. They fill me up!

    Getting noticed

That is very alarming. I would make sure to trusted family and friends just in case something weider happens. Foward the e-mails to other people, so that everyone knows there is someone stalking you. That is just very creepy.
