5 1/2 yrs postop and having problems

does your fill doctor do this??

My doctor does not use fluro scope. She feels around as I do a stomach crunch. She hits the spot every time, no digging around for it. I have the high profile port, so maybe that is easier to find.
  3. I can eat it post band, but I really don't like it. I was never a big fan of oatmeal or cream of wheat pre-band.
  4. Congrats, I am so excited for you. You have come to the right place for support. Good luck with your surgery tomorrow!

    New So many questions

Hi Susie: I have seen threads about this Doctor posted on this web site under doctors and hospitals. You might want to use the search tool at the top of this web site to find information about him from other posters. I will share with you that I enjoy all the foods I ate pre-band, now that I am banded. My issue pre-band was portion control. I am telling you, I had huge issues with this. I hate to admit this, but pre-band, during the holidays I could easliy consume a whole 1-pound box of Sees candy, post band this past holiday, I was satisfied with 1 piece of candy. That is a big mile stone for me. I can eat bread, chicken and other items that give other Bandsters problems. I chew my food really well and I count calories, so I can stay on track. Plus, I work out at least 5x a week. I can actually exercise without feeling the knee and ankle pains. I feel stronger every day and I feel more in control of my life in so many ways. Good luck with your journey!
  6. Wow, your really lucky yo have such great restriction that you are not hungry yet. I had 3cc placed in my band during my surgery and around day 7-post op, I was hungryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. I wanted to eat real food. I did not have a fear of adding foods. I was so ready for real food, but I did have a fear of over eating. I use to have huge portions for my meals, plus I would snack all day long before the band. My biggest fear was that I would continue to do that. But my reality is my band does not allow me to do that. I get full rather quickly with small portions. Just follow your doctor's orders and gradually add mushies. I think you will find that you can only eat so much. Good luck

    Is coffee the culprit?

I am so sorry your going through this. I have read some of your other posts and I know it has not been easy. Take care.
  9. I buy the store generic Vitamin products. I have not had any issues with them and my doctor tests my blood monthly to see where my vitamin levels are at. Blood results are good, so far. Thank goodness! I have not tried any oil vitamin products, because love fish and eat plenty of it.
  10. Hi Zetajenn: 1. I see my doctor every 4-weeks and if I need a fill I get one. 2. I have a 10cc band with 5cc in it. I was banded in Nov. 2008. And I was filled at surgery and two other time in the office. Three fills altogther now. 3. I never over eat. I have read enough threads on this web site to scare me straight from over eating. Thus, I have not thrown up. 4. The only time I have a sore port area is when I increase the activity level of my exercise routine.

    Is coffee the culprit?

Wow, I cannot live with out coffee. I have at least 20 ounces in the morning before I start the commute to work. Hopefully, your doctor can give you a slight unfill. Good luck.
  12. Oh Teresa, you are so very close. If I recall, I completed my last test on October 13 at Manteca Hospital. It was the Upper GI. The doctor was very quick and had the results to Dr. Kim on October 14. Dr. Kim submited the paper work and her report to the insurance company on October 15 and I was approved by the insurance on October 16. It won't be much longer for you.

The fills are easy to get, no pain and they provide the striction I need. Right now I am recovering from a root-canal, which really really hurts. But other than that, I am doing great!

I bet you hear something by early next week.

    January 2009 Exercise Challenge

Today: My mind is saying jump on that treadmill and go girl. But the rootcanal I had done on Monday is kicking my butt. My gums are swollen and I am taking vicodine for pain. But I cannot take the pain meds, while at work. So by the time I get home, it really flipping hurts. Lulu, sorry about the port area and your hernia. I hope you get well soon.

    Family Response

Since you are not that close to your sister anyway, don't engage her. I don't engage negative family members. Yes, they are part of my life, but not on a daily basis. I keep my distance when it come to negative people. Spend your time with positive supportive people.
  15. My shoe size has not changed yet, but my shoes are much loser now.

    First Fill - 6ccs

Wow, that is an agressive fill. I would ask for some clarification from your doctor. I had 3cc placed during the surgery, then 1.5 cc on 12/10/08 and 1cc on 1/14/09.
  17. It really depends upon what your doctor recommends for you. Each doctor is different and each patient is so different. My doctor might tell me one thing and your doctor might tell you something else. As for me, my doctor had me do a 2-week pre-op diet.

    Severe Pain..

I feel your pain dontmissout: In May of 1996, I had an emergency hysterectomy, which came out of the blue. A couple of months later in July 1996, I had severe pain in my stomach area, which turned out to be Gallbladder and stones. I begged the doctor not to operate and to allow me to finish school. He agreed. He monitored my situation closely, provided me pain killers as needed. I was so focused on completing classes, because I really wanted to graduate that I would ignore the pain and not follow up with the doctor. However, in October of 1996, the pain got so bad that I went and saw my doctor at the hospital (the one who had been monitoring me). I thought he was going to give me some magic drugs and send me home, but he did not. I was so silly back then, I did not really get how serious it was. When I was laying on the gurney, I asked the doctor if it was okay to go home and he looked at me like I was off my rocker. He said we are taking you into the operating room right now to remove your gallbladder. And they did just that. Anyway, I recovered and I graduated. Two surgeries in one year for me.
  19. Well, my port is located to the far left of my stomach above the belly button by 2 to 3 inches. I don't even go touching that area. When I shower, I just let the water and soap glide over that stomach area. I know I am silly!

    Did I slip?!

Unsure15: I felt the same way when I kicked up my walking to a power walk on an incline at 2.5 weeks post op. The stomach muscles were sore and I swear I felt tighter restriction. Your doctor can give you a better sense of what is going on, but I hope it is nothing serious. Take care,
  21. Hi Teresa:

I am doing great and at my appointment, I lost another 7-pounds in four weeks. It looks like on average, I am losing 2 pounds a week, which is just fine by me. Dr. Kim gave me another fill of 1-cc, so now I have 5cc in a 10cc band. I have great restriction so far and I am this fill lasts for awhile.

I have no doubt you will be hearing from the center very soon. If I recall, all my results were sent to the insurance company, because there were no issues. And then I received my insurance approval in less than 24 hours, which was shocking to me.

I did not meet with Dr. Kim to discuss the test results.

Let me know how it goes. You are very close!!!! Congrats.

    January 2009 Exercise Challenge

Today: Treadmill 55 minutes 4% incline for 2.65 miles jogging and power walking. On my way to get a root canal and crown placed on.:scared2:
  25. There was no way I could go back to work after a week. I took two weeks off and loved being away from the job. I have a desk job and I am stationary. I have a two hour round trip commute. The day I returned to work I felt energized and ready to go, which was day 14-post op. On day 7-post op my doctor lifted the driving restrictions she had placed. That was the day I went driving, shopping, and cleaning house. I was sore but feeling better on day 7. But I really needed the full two weeks just to feel 100% again. For me personally, this was the right amount of time off. If you do not feel you can go back to work on Wed, then ask your doctor to provide you a note, which keeps you at home longer. Then provide the note to your employer. Take the time you need to recover, so you do not develop complications. Good luck!
