  1. Well, everyone's procedure varys. As an example, I was banded on 11/11/2008 and had some complications during surgery and in the hospital. So, I stayed in the hospital for 2.5 days. That is not the norm, and nor did I expect this to happen. I am not sure how long it took the surgeon to complete my surgery. My spleen started to bleed during the prcoedure and they had to get the bleeding under control. But all is well now. I am jogging, losing weight, and have lots of energy. Good luck!

    Starting over...

Hi Julie: Taking back control is a great start to the New Year. Getting your fill will help. If there is confusion or lock of information from your doctor regarding the amount of food, then try commecting with a nutritionist. Also connect to a local support group, which will help motivate you and help you work through the challenges. And lastly, perhaps seeing a therapist to address your fear of failing. Good luck!

    What would you do?!

You are 24-years of age. You are an adult, do you really feel the need to convince friends and family to support you? I did not tell family, friends, or co-workers about my medical issues and my decision to have WLS. I am a strong independent adult woman who does not seek permission to live my life. Thus, give yourself permission to use your Power in a way that helps you make decisions that lead you to achieve a healthy life-stlye that you deserve and need to live a long life. You and your doctors know what is best for you. If your quality of life is less than desirable, then do whatever you need to do to get better. Remember you are in control and you can do this! Good luck!
  8. You are risking your opportunity to have your surgery by not following the pre-op diet. It is very challenging to follow the diet. However, if you don't follow the diet and your surgeon opens you up only to find the liver is enlarged, you risk not having the procedure done. Why risk that when you have come this far? The pre-op liquid diet is not forever, so get back on track with the liquids and call your doctor to let them know how you are doing.
  9. 1. Yes, I stayed 2.5 days in the hospital, because of complications. 2. I was sore for about 10 days. 3. I was not released to drive, until day 7-post op and it was not a problem. 4. Other restrictions no lifting over 10-pounds.

    Does anyone have regrets?

    No regrets here! Love it!

    Water Consumption

I really don't track how much I drink before a meal. I am allowed to drink and my doctor encourages us to drink right before the meal. However, I cannot drink with the meal or after the meal. As an example, I just finished working out. I drank over 1 pint of water during this work out and I am still drinking water. I will be eating supper shortly. So, within the last hour, I have been drinking water continously and will stop in a few minutes to eat supper.

    Pre-Op Jitters

The heating pad is for the gas pain. But be careful utilizing it if you have dissolving stitches. I was nervous too during the pre-op diet stage as well. Just keep yourself busy, continue to educate yourself, get into a walking routine now, and follow your doctor's instructions regarding the pre-op diet. Good luck!

    Questioning food amounts and fills

But are you losing weight consistently? If you are losing an average of 1 to 2 pounds a week, then I would say your fill is working for you.

Well, I am a firm believer in following the doctor's instructions, so it sounds like you and she have a plan. Hopefully, your pre-op diet is not longer than two weeks and your surgery is around the corner. Good luck!
  16. My bariatric doctor and their staff at the orientations mentioned this several times. They provide referrals upon request too. After seeing Dr. 90210, I was totally wanting to have my girls lifted prior to even considering having WLS. Once I hit my goal weight, I am getting the girls back up north where they are suppose to be.

LapBand needs to approve the insurance??

Wow, that is interesting and nerve racking too! I have never heard of this before.

    Almost There

What a great way to start the New Year and you have an excellent support system lined up. How luck are you to have your wife there for you? Best of luck!
  19. Hey Annie, you have come so far and your surgery is just right around the corner. I am not sure what upset you, but just hold on a little bit longer. You are almost there, so don't cancel. Take a deep breath and just breathe.

Hello and welcome to LBT! I like the New Whey Protein bullets in fruit flavors. They are 3 ounces of slimy protein. They are portable and fit nicley in my purse when I need a quick pick me up. I also like the Isopure fruity drinks too! They are about 40 grams of protein per serving. Did your doctor tell you what to drink during the liquid pre-op diet? When is your surgery?
  21. Hey Teal, I have all Leslie Sansones walk away the pounds DVDs. I used before I bought my treadmill. They are great. Even my son use to utilize them.
  22. I eat when I am hungry, so it can vary during the day. Yesterday: Breakfast: Grande white mocha non fat no whip Midmorning: New whey Protein bullet Lunch: nothing Dinner: Baked salmon, steamed red potatoes and steamed broccoli with a pat of butter.

    Just Banded

Conragts on your banding. The only thing that I found to help me with gas is walking. Gasx strips did nothing for me.
  24. Interesting about Fluid being red not counting as clear. This is the first I heard of that. I learn something new on this forum every day. Anyway, your best bet is to ask your doctor. They will provide clarity in this matter. As far as my doctor, I could have any color fluid if I could see through it. I could have juice too, but my doctor highly recommended that I water it down. Thus, I purchased the Isopure Protein drinks that come in various fruity flavors. To me they taste good and filled me up, plus helped me with my fluid and Protein intake. But again, ask your doctor.
