Kimme, be patient with yourself and the process. Give your body time to heal. And try really hard to get all your fluids in. Good luck!

Are you sure you are suppose to have Protein shakes during the post-op liquid diet? Just double checking. :cheated: Perhaps your doctor allows that. During the clear liquid phase, I could have just that; anything I could see clear through. So my doctor allowed Isopure Protein drinks, which are clear liquid. Good luck!

New to this site and want to say hi
TQUAD64 replied to fergwood's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
During the liquid post-op diet phase, I drank NewWhey Bullets and Isopure, which my doctor said was okay for me. Now, I eat meat and cheese, my to faves. Plus, I have other stuff, like chilli, eggs, milk, and Isopure and/or NewWhey bullets. I exercise like crazy, so I make sure to get over 100 grams in a day. -
All your questions are dependant upon your insurance requirements and bariatric doctor's requirement. Every one's requirements differ. For me the process was as follows: After my first orientation seminar, my bariatric doctor required I attend to classes. The first class was nutrition/exercise. The second class was to attend a post-op support group to here about what happens. My first seminar I believe was the end of August and surgery was in November. Pre-op requirements were a 6-month supervised diet, psych exam, Upper GI, Blood work, H-pylori test, EKG and EKG. Good luck!

Can we have decaff coffee?
TQUAD64 replied to Hope09's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was allowed to have decaf products during the post liquid diet phase. However, you should follow your doctor's instructions for you. I am 2.5 months out from surgery and now drink caffeine coffee every morning. Does my doctor want me to, no she preferred I did not. Her reason for not wanting patients to drink coffee is that it stimulates hunger. In my case, it does not stimulate hunger. I have not seen any scientific reports that can substantiate definitely whether caffeine products stimulate hunger or not. Coffee is my vice and I shall not give it up. Besides, you really don't want to be around me in the morning until I had coffee. -
Need advice can't keep anything down
TQUAD64 replied to Carramia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would ask to be totally unfilled. I am not sure how they repair a slipped band. But you can use the search tool bar at the top of the web site and place key words like Band Slip and you will be connected to all the threads that discuss this topic. Sorry you are having this problem. Good luck! -
Sounds to me like your right on track. Losing two pounds a week is average and thank-goodness you are not gaining weight. Your doing a great job. When you get your first fill you might have some restriction or you might not; everyone is different with their fills. Just be patient with yourself. You will get there. Remember it is a journey to goal not a mad rush. Besides you are exercising and playing by the Band Rules, you will do great! Take care and be kind to yourself, your body is still in recovery mode.:tongue2:

Pain - upper left side under ribs ? Anyone have or had this?
TQUAD64 replied to debbehappy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Go on liquids for a day or two, so your pouch can recover. Right now it sounds like it is spasming. P.S. I eat rice now and then without issue. Some people can eat rice, but it appears that it is difficult for you. I would consider not having this food for a month, since you reaction was not good. As far as band slippage, that is a conversation for you and your doctor. Good luck! -
Exercises for flabby arms....actually for whatever the area under the bicep is called
TQUAD64 replied to Losing_It_In_Texas's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Hello, if you go to Sparkpeople.com which is a free service, you can utilize their collection of upper body videos. These free videos show you how to properly work on your upper body with weights and show you exactly the area that you are toning up. I use it all the time. Plus, if you are into tracking calories and exercise for free then this web site does that too. -
She is selfish, just simple as that. She should have donated them, because she cannot afford the 6 children she already has.

Wow! Jill sorry this happened. Thanks for the post. I cannot believe one minute your good with your old fill and you get .5cc and your not good. That is really scary. I just had a fill last week and I am really tight. I mean, I have never been this tight before. I am keeping liquids down and food, no issues. But is scares me sometimes to think that this could change. I am being very cautious and will go to the doctor if anything gets stuck or sliming. Thank you for sharing.

Barbie, start with your insurance. Call the insurance company just to make sure WLS is a covered benefit. If it is, ask them to send you in writing the requirements to get approved for WLS. Once you confirm that the surgery is a covered benefit, set up an appointment with your PC to get the process moving along. If you have problems with the insurance company or receive confusing or conflicting information, have your PC doctor's billing person/office manager contact the insurance company. Good luck!

Today: 60 minutes treadmill 3.4 miles cross between jogging and power walking and 4% to 5% to mix it up a bit. OMG: I just realized that today is the last day of January. I did 3.4 miles in 60 minutes and on January 1, I did 2.1 miles at 50 minutes. Wow, you really can build up your rate of speed if you just keep at it. Yahoo Team Tquad!!!!

What soup options do I have
TQUAD64 replied to eyeinthesky's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like egg flower soup and oyster beef soup from the Chinese Restaurant down the road. Can soup and broth just got old. And I am not a cook, so making soup was just out of the question. -

You know Lulu, I am not a big fan of the government stepping in, but I have to agree with you; some regulation is needed, because something went terribly wrong and our society will pay the price if she receives government benefits to support all her children. It just is not right.

TQUAD64 replied to derbin247's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep, 3 today and 26 before you know it and always-always your baby. Best regards! -
I would say your progressing normally. At 3-weeks post op I was starving and on mushies. I limited my calories to 1,200 a day and started exercising around this time too to help offset those days when I consumed more than 1,200 calories. Bandster Hell is no fun, but you sounds like you have it under control. Stick with your doctor's instructions and get your fill when it is time. You will do great!

Am i just not getting it???
TQUAD64 replied to camrayne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
PB can occur because your not chewing your food well enough or because your eating to quickly and unable to tell when your stomach is full, or you might be to fight with the fill. You really need to talk to your doctor about this. If you are not losing weight it could be from so many causes. If you are not doing so already, track your calories and measure your food. Increase your Protein intake so your full, avoid slider foods, and exercise. If you are aleardy exercising then increase your work outs. Good luck! -
My Mother Is Driving Me NUTS!!!
TQUAD64 replied to derbin247's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Too funny. My daughter will be 24 shortly and I still have difficulty cutting the cord. I love her with all my heart and want to make sure she receives the very best in life, which I am sure your mom wants for you. Moms are moms. We have our mom issues and we know we can be pesty, but we love an adore our adult children and really want the best for them. Try and be patient with your mom. By the way, I am going to be 45 shortly and my mom gets on my nerves and business too. So it never ends. Good luck! -
What do I need to bring?
TQUAD64 replied to maestrita's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hospital stay: I brought the clothes on my back and a change of undies, just in case. Accidents happen! :-) Chapstick, cell phone, hair brush, and insurance card. Back at home: I bought the following items ahead of time; bottle Water, crystal light, Jello, sf pop cycles, sf yogurt, broth, Isopure, and my RX pain meds, which I had the doctor call into the pharmacy a day ahead of the surgery. Pack light for the plane. You really won't need much at the hospital. Good luck!
