Protein Bullets 42 grams protein in 3 fl oz
TQUAD64 replied to Saundra's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ah slim-n-trim say it aint so!!!! Not sure why I like them, but my doctor and nurtitionists totally recommended them. They are the only liquid Protein that I can tolerate. It's crazy how different everyone is with the taste of the liquid protein. -
So true! Who is going to admit to it???

Debbie your post is so true! Your stomach is recovering from surgery. In my case, my doctor stiched the bad up to the stomach to avoid slips. So the sutures needed time to heal, but it would be hard for the sutures to heal while digestion of solid foods occurs. Thus, my doctor had me on two weeks of liquids post op. (Sorry you are on 4-weeks). Lyndi, every doctor is different with their instructions. It is really important to follow your doctor's instructions for proper healing. Call your doctor and let them know what is going on. If you should still be on liquids, then get back on liquids. I know it is hard, but you have come this far, so you can go the rest of the way! Good luck!

Heather makes great points. You need to confirm the fluid is still in there. That you actually have 9cc in your band. The easiest way to confirm this is to take the old fill out and measure it. Your fill doctors can do this. (My doctor does this every time)

I have not heard of it, but would like to know more about it. Hopefully someone will post some information.

I agree it is strange and wrong in so many ways. But did they really implant all 8. I heard they did not; that a couple of the implants split into two or three.

Will I adjust to these shakes?
TQUAD64 replied to Shrinkerbell's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Too funny!. Those of us who have been banded know how you feel, especially if we had to do the famous pre-op diet. You poor thing a whole month??? I never got use to shakes and never used them. They hurt my tummy. I asked my doctor to recommend other lquid Protein drinks and she recommended Isopure and NewWhey bullets. The NewWhey has 42 grams of protein and the Isopure has 40 grams. They are very filling. My doctor also allowed me to have one small meal for dinner high in protein. If you can keep your protein up really high it will help with hunger. Talk to your doctor about other types of Protein Drinks. Ask your doctor if they would be willing to allow one small protein meal with two protein drinks for your other meals. Every doctor has different instructions, so always do what your doctor instructs you to do, but it cannot hurt to ask him/her??? Good luck! -
Her parents should have practiced tough love on her years ago. They are enablers. This woman needs therapy and some tough love along with a reality check. Even if her mom kicks her out of the house, you know someone from a local church will take her in. She will always have a support source as long as she has the famous Octuplets. It is just so sad and wrong for all her kids.

10 mo out..lost 60+ pounds but gained 20 back. HELP
TQUAD64 replied to dreamsize8's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sorry, but I don't see how you are going to do well with the gastric by-pass when you are not following the Band Rules. All WLS have rules associated to them. If you are not doing well with the rules for one produre, then how will you do well with the rules of another procedure? You have the tools you need. Your doctor has confirmed there is nothing wrong with your band. You have confirmed that you are not following the rules. So come on, you have already done so well. It is no easy task to lose 63 pounds, but you did that. You know you can do it again. Try going to support groups, counseling, and exercising. There are so many people at LBT here to support you, so find a buddy and get the support you need. You have done it before and I know you can do it again!!! Good luck! -
It looks like there are movie deals there for her too! Unbelievable.

Drinking water during and after meals...
TQUAD64 replied to rcruz's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Your best bet is to follow your doctor's orders. My doctor prefers us to drink right up to the point we start consuming food. She believes it makes a feel more full. Once we start consuming food, my doctor does not want us to drink for 1-hour. It is a hard rule, but I don't keep liquids near me when I am eating. I pay attention when I am eating, not distracted by tv, radio, phone, or computer. -

*New* Banded 1/23 & still not back to work
TQUAD64 replied to Tullila's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Since your surgery was on 1/23/09 are you suppose to be eating already? Are you on liquids still or mushies? I would contact your doctor and seek their advice. I am sure they would want to know how you are feeling. Good luck! -
I need motivation re:exercise please
TQUAD64 replied to thinkingslim70's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I work full-time plus I have a commute. I don't like mornings! So I exercise in the evening after I get off work. Perhaps you are starting off with too much exercise?? We all have to start somewhere, but usually we start off slower. Give yourself time to build up your strength so you can increase your workouts gradually. You will get there. -
I would review scientific medical journal articles rather than take information from the thread as actual data. JAMA has many free journal articles on their web site that you can review. Here is one link to such an article http://jama.ama-assn.org/cgi/reprint/292/14/1724.pdf If you cannot open the link then go to JAMA: JAMA, the Journal of the American Medical Association, a weekly peer-reviewed medical journal published by AMA and use their search tool. Key in words such as bariatric WLS or bariatric banding. Good luck!

Infection along tubing? Is band loss inevitable???
TQUAD64 replied to mica's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am so sorry this is happening to you. A second opinion is always good to consider when you have a health care crisis to manage. There are several thread on this forum, which pertain to LapBand complications and removal. Below are the links, which might help you find more information. Good luck! Scared little (okay, not so little) newbie.
TQUAD64 replied to MrsBLoveLeigh's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Too funny! I do not think about the band inside me. I do have a high-profile port, that at this point I don't go feeling around for. I cannot feel my installed equipment when I am moving or jogging. However, I know it is there when I get my fill. And I know it is there when I have restriction. Good luck on your journey! -
How long do you stay out of work?
TQUAD64 replied to eyeinthesky's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was instructed not to lift anything over 10-pounds for several weeks. I stayed home for 2-weeks and really felt great on day 7-post op, but was glad to have more time off to recover fully. I have a stationary desk job. -
Mary: There are different ways a doctor can qualify a patient for the surgery. 1. The patient has a BMI of 40 or higher or 2. The patient has a BMI between 35-40, with medical issues. Every insurance plan is different and is based on what your employer purchased for its employees. Some employers don't cover WLS via the insurance plan, while other employers allow WLS. You will not know what to do next until you know what your employer insurance plan covers. Call the insurance company and make an inquiry. If they cover WLS or if they do not, ask for the policy in writing. Good luck!

How do you take non-liquid medications?
TQUAD64 replied to Holabbie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a vitamin regiment of pills that I consume throughout the day, which are in pill form. Plus, I have three prescriptions I am currently on. I do not try to take all these pills at once. I have not had any problems with swallowing pills as long as I space them out. -
Jachut, you go girl! Just reading about the 6mp at 5% makes me sore. Great job!
