Question To All,Has anyone received there surgery date without approval?
TQUAD64 replied to misslonglegs's topic in Insurance & Financing
I agree with this. Be careful of what you sign, inlight of not having insurance approval yet. -
The first sign is not being able to keep fluids down. But your doing that. Another sign is not being able to keep foods down, which results in being stuck or vomiting.

Congrats on your 50 pound weight loss! Personally, I want to lose weight just like everyone else on this forum. And I would love to lose it quickly, but not to the detrminet of my health. I will never accept a fill in which I could not swallow liquids. If this would happen to me, I would call my doctor and get a slight unfill. It is not a race to lose weight but more of journey. I know I will get there and so will you. If you cannot keep fluids down then call your doctor.

does anyone actually work out??
TQUAD64 replied to glamischick's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I did during those two phases. And I continue too now. During both phases, I walked on my treadmill with an incline. I could not go very far or go very fast, but I did work out. I started off at 20 minutes, then 30 minutes, then 45, minutes, then 50 minutes, and now I do 60 minutes 5X times a week. During the pre-op and post op diets, the incline I started off at was 2%, but now ranges from 4% to 5%. The distance was 1 mile, then 1.25 miles, then 1.5 miles, then 2 miles and now I am at 3.40 miles. Plus, every other day I would do upper body work-outs with light hand weights. I would use Sparkpeople.com videos, which taught me how to properly stand and position myself with the weights. -
Did any of you have a doctor that was against the surgery?
TQUAD64 replied to hopeful41411's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did not have this issue, but if my primary care doctor did not support me and delayed my ability to have the surgery, I would have found a new PC doctor who would support me. -
This might sound silly but...
TQUAD64 replied to kaitlynmarie93's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
God, I hope they get smaller because they are in the D range now. But as of yet, I am almost 40 pounds down, since my surgery three months ago and they are not decreasing in size. I am losing inches every where else but not in my breasts. -

Restirction is very different for each person. But it really sounds like you need a fill. I was banded November 11 and I have had 4 fills. I have great restriction with the fourth be I am very cautious as to how long that will last. Usually my restriction will last for about two weeks and then it fades. Today makes two weeks since my last fill, so I am just waiting to see what happens.

Pre-surg jitters!?!
TQUAD64 replied to presleysyndrome's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was nervous too, because I was fearful that I might fail the band. The fear of the unknown plays a wicked head game. While being prepped for the band procedure, I thought to myself, what would happen if I just escaped this place. I will just run away and not go through with the procedure. But no matter how fearful I was, I really wanted a chance to have a healthier new life. I am no spring chicken and I knew that my health problems would only get worse with age, so it was now or never. So I did have the procedure and I am happy to say that I am losing weight, I have lots of energy, and I am training for a marathon. Yes, it is scary, but it is so worth it. I would do it all over again! Good luck! -
Seeking Advice on Family...
TQUAD64 replied to Ale78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't you just love moms! For better or worse they never stop mothering. You must set up your personal boundries. If you think it will cause you stress by telling certain people the procedure you are going to have, then don't tell. You will have enough to deal with without family drama. Safe guard your emotional well-being and divert your attention away from negative people. I personally, did not tell anyone, but my sister. And the only reason why my sister knows is because I needed an emergency contact person for my hospital forms. Plus, if anything were to have happened to me, my sister is as strong as a rock and would be there to help guide my adult children. My employer does not know. My parents do not know, nor do my friends know. I really never have discussed medical issues with friends, family or co-workers. Good luck! -
My doctor required it before and after. It is not the most pleasant test, but it is do able. I am really glad I had it the day after surgery. It just gave me peace of mind knowing that everyhting was working properly prior to leaving the hospital. Talk to your doctor about your concerns. Perhaps, you can have the procedure done after surgery, but at a location that has the appropriate equipment to conduct the test.

Although I have not personally experienced this, I know it does occur.
