Okay, I watched the Date-Line video that I recorded on Octo-Mom, and really all I can say is wow! When she talked about raising her family on student loans, I just cringed. I worked full time, went to school full-time as a single parent and I did take student loans out, but those loans are not for raising children. I could not raise children on student loans, because you do not receive that much money in student loans. I used my student loans for tutition, lab fees, books, transportation, supplies, and a lap top to take to school for my classes. But really there was not that much left to raise a family and I only had two children.

I like the concept of rewarding people for maintaining a healthy life. Perhaps an end of the year premium refund! -
So Pattygreen who is going to pay for her food, clothing and shelter for her 14 children, lets not forget all the medical bills as well?

Here is an Associated Press Article: Meanwhile, the Center for Genetics and Society has joined the call for disciplinary action against the clinic that treated Suleman. In a statement Wednesday, the nonprofit public interest group said two professional organizations -- the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology -- should revoke the licenses of the fertility program for violating guidelines about embryo implantation. The American Society for Reproductive Medicine said it's investigating whether fertility treatment guidelines were broken. Suleman has said she underwent in vitro fertilization at a Beverly Hills fertility clinic run by Dr. Michael Kamrava. Without identifying the doctor, the Medical Board of California said last week it was looking into the Suleman case to see if there was a "violation of the standard of care."

Anesthesia- Dry heaving or puking?
TQUAD64 replied to wuan2000's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This has been an issue with me with a prior surgery. So my doctor pumped me up with two shots before they wheeled me into the operating room. The first shot was for nausea and the other shot was pepid ac or something or other. These shots went into my IV and the craziest thing is I could feel them going in the vein. Anyway, I did not get sick while in the recovery room. However, I had a hard time with pain meds after surgery, so the doctor gave me anti-nausea Patches, which worked great. -
I am so sorry for your loss!

It's a bittersweet Update...

This is great advice Heather!:crying: -
With a fill you should feel full for longer periods with less food. However, since you were just recently banded and just had your first fill, you more than likely have not reach full restriction or sweet spot. For some people it can take several fills and it depends how much your doctor fills you with. If you are eating more than what you thought you could, please realize it does take time and you will get there. Hopefully with more fills you will reach a spot where less food keeps you feeling full longer, thereby helping you lose more weight.

I think you should follow your doctor's post-op diet instructions. When do you start mushies and solids? If you cannot start mushies yet, then call your doctor and ask if you can? -

First appt. to surgery
TQUAD64 replied to Kayla_ann's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My first appointment with the surgeon was October 10, 2008. My surgery was November 11, 2008. -
Prepare of list of questions that you would like to ask the surgeon. As far as liquid Protein, follow your doctor's recommendation for this. But if he did not recommend one, I drank the Isopure 40 grams of protein and NewWhey bullets 42 grams of protein. I like their flavors, but there are people on this forum who do not.

I don't know anything about your insurance, but with my insurance they gave me a list of bariatric doctors that were in the network, so there was no confusion as to who was a provider and who was not. Can't your insurance company tell you which bariatric doctor is covered in the network, so you don't have to waste your time? -
Just starting the weightloss journey!

Since every insurance is different their requirements vary too. Contact your insurance company to find out what steps you need to take. -
Well I hope your right Beth!

Major Distress - don't know if it band related
TQUAD64 replied to Texgirly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you were fine prior to eating and no band issues, it sound more like food poisening or the flu bug. -
I hear you. I hope some regulation comes out of this.

I really hope. I just don't want to be one of those people that never hits their sweet spot. :crying:

[ As a California resident, my tax dollars are already being donated to this family. But thanks for the link.

Judgmental no, realistic yes. Realistically she will not able to raise 8 premie babies on her own. And I am not even talking about the 6 kids she has at home. She does not have the financial resources or the physical capability to raise the 8 premies on her own. Glad to hear you thought it was a breeze to raise 10 children. But Pattygreen you did not give birth to all ten kids at once. You did not have 10 premies to raise at once. You pose a very weak argument when you compare your circumstances with the mom who she gave birth to 8 premies. And throwing God in the mix as though this woman has a devine right to reproduce without the consequence of providing is just ridiculous. As someone who lives in California, I am pissed off that my tax dollars are being utilized to provide food stamps and other government support services to this woman. And the reason why I am ticked, is because she could not afford to provide for the 6 kids she has at home and now she has 8 more. I wanted to have a large family too, but I could not afford to do so, so I did not. There are a lot of things in life that I would like to have, but I cannot afford them.
