Patty greene when you comment "This is not True" to what carrie_c posted you are inferring she is a liar. I would choose my words more wisely when posting. This was an experience of carrie_c friend and to dismiss it as false is just a radical statement, one of many posted by you on this topic. I have no doubt your grandson is thriving and I am glad he is. But there are many preemies who have issues when they leave the hospital. Yes, a baby born early may leave the hospital as a full term baby, but many, not all, will have medical issues and developmental issues as well. Preemies that go home from the hospital do have higher instances of SIDS. The link below is a report by the CDC. You do not have to go very far within the report to read about low birth rates and death by SIDS, see page 2 and 3. http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nvsr/nvsr55/nvsr55_14.pdf

Confused about fills...
TQUAD64 replied to DannyLu's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Every person has a unique personal experience with their band and fills. What works great for me might not be so great for someone else and vice-a-versa. As an example, my roommate at the hospital where I had the surgery have the same surgeon and were banded within hours of each other. Her aviator name is Lacasst and if you see her signature line it reflects she has had way less fills than I. Lacasst, had better restriction and was losing a lot more weight than I was, thus our doctor did not give her additional fills. I on the other hand, was losing weight, but was very hungry and was not satisfied with a meal for very long, so I would get more fills. Lacasst went home from the hospital the day after surgery, where I stayed for 2.5 days. So what I am trying to convey is that each person's fills are designed specifically for them based on their aftercare with their doctor. As far as the sweet spot, it is a matter of toying around to figure out what works. And keep in mind that there are some people who achieve the sweet spot, but then for some reason need a slight unfill because restriction becomes too tight. Sometimes, a fill that worked great for several months without a problem, might become a problem. Thus, the importance of aftercare. -
Confused about fills...

What an odd statement from the person who fills you. If you have a 10cc band you can have 10cc placed in it. But the goal is to provide you as much restriction as needed to encourage weight loss; an average of 1 to 2 pounds a week, with the least amount of fill. Your doctor will decide how much of a fill to give you at any one time. Fills are based on so many factors. As an example based upon my doctor, if I am losing weight at 1 to 2 pounds a week and I am not grazing/snacking and I am satisfied with a meal for 3 to 4 hours, she will not give me a fill. However, if I am hungry all the time, cannot stay satisfied with a meal, and I am gaining weight or just staying at my weight, then she will give me a fill. I have great restriction right now, but yeah I do get hungry. It is a hunger that is satisfied for at least 4 hours with small portions. But yeah, I am presuming everyone eventually gets hungry, but when restriction is achieved the hunger is satisfied with less food. If you get close to being completely filled with your band without achieving restriction or without weight loss, then there might be some issues occurring, such as fill leaking, band slippage, and/or a stretch pouch. These are issues you can discuss with your doctor. Good luck! -
Good luck on your journey!

Restricted in morning and Port pain
TQUAD64 replied to zsbt42's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Slider food are items that you can chew up easily, swallow, and slide past the band. Some examples are: Cookies Candy Chips Milk shakes Mocha's Alcohol Soda Ice cream -
Been there and done that. I will not go back on diet pills again and believe you me, i have been on them all both RX by the doctor and over the counter.

I just returned from the grocery store and there were several magazines at the check out stands with her picture and story on them. I wonder if this was her first story selling for dollars? I did not purchase any of the magazines, nor did I look inside. Maybe this is her way of earning the money she will need to support all the children she has. I also wonder if she is making anything off her web site???

I need help with this problem of getting stuck in front of other people
TQUAD64 replied to Just Banded's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If I am out with co-workers for lunch, I get one of two things; either soup or an appetizer, but never an entree. I save money this way I am eating less And I don't have to worry about what other people think -
Restricted in morning and Port pain
TQUAD64 replied to zsbt42's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What does your doctor say? I have tight restriction in the morning, so I have a warm beverage, which helps. I also have tight restriction after I work out, so I usally will eat a couple after the work out in the evening. I am not sure about your port pain, but I am sure your doctor might have some insight. As far as weight loss, how is your after care going? Are you exercising, getting fills when you need them, and watching slider foods? -
Happ Valentines Day Breakfast: Triple venti skinny latte Lunch: Snap peas 3.5 ounces and 1 chicken thigh Dinner: To early on the West Coast for supper, but I will probably have home made chicken alfredo with mushrooms over penne wheat Pasta.

Favorite "post-band" chain restaurant?
TQUAD64 replied to cookiebaby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My favorite is any Chinese Restaurant. It is not often we go out to eat or bring home take out, but when we do it usually is Chinese food. I never go wrong with the soup and pot stickers. -
Do you mean what people ate before the liquid pre-opdiet or after? Before I started the liquid pre-op diet, I wanted to get use to it, so I skipped lunch and had broth. It was very hard and when I was still hungry, I had more broth. I had huge portion issues and would pile to food on my plate. Rather than just go cold turkey with all liquids and I wanted to gradually retrain myself to eat less. Thus, skipping lunch and having broths and Protein drinks. This made my transition to the liquid pre-op diet stage a little easier. Good luck!

Very cool Gerry and yes I have seen families on this forum who all had the surgery on the same day. I wish you and your family the best. Good luck! -
Hi Lucky22: Welcome to LBT. Good luck with your journey and don't forget to continue to learn as much as you can about the process.

I hope the medical board steps in quickly. Jeopardizing a woman's health is just wrong.

Okay Pattygreen, now your just being ridiculous to the point of sheer stupidity. Placing a woman's health in jeopardy by placing so many embryos in her is unconscionable.

Yesterday: Unexpected road trip out of town, so no exercise. Today: 4 miles, 1% incline, for 60 minutes. I was able to go 1 extra mile, by decreasing the incline. My goal now is to do 5 miles in 60 minutes by March 15.:frown: Georgia Girl sorry to hear you were sick. Lulu, let me know how golfing is with the Wii.

Finally, something we can all agree on. Nothing is more crazier than being single while living off government assistance, staying with your parents for reduced rent and bringing 8 more children into the world, while you cannot financially provide for the 6 kids you already have. If that doesn't say crazy, I don't know what does???:frown:
