Any December '08 Bandsters?
Stewy929 replied to Florida Pete's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes the support of my family especially my fiance is amazing. He can eat like a horse but has def cut down what he eats and how he eats to help me in my process. I sure do love that man! My Preop Diet is not all liquid...there is only 3 guidelines 1) must have at least 70g of Protein a day (I usually get between 100-120 a day) 2)No more than 30g of Carbs a day (a little more challenging but i'm sticking to it; some days come really close others dont even get to 10carbs) 3) little to no fat (no fried foods; butter; high fat meats or dressings) pretty easy just dont eat any of that stuff~ HA! I pretty much have 2 scrambled eggs and cheese for breakfast 1 serving of chicken or turkey deli meat for lunch with a slice of cheese dinner is usually 3oz of chicken and some type of veggie. Today is the first day I actually feel like i've lost weight (I know I have but I can tell today) I drink lots of Water and 1 high Protein shake or drink a day (35g -40g of protein) and then 1 protein shot (42g of protein) I sure hope I'm doing it right i'm sticking to the guidelines... They have me on this diet BC I have a large liver and My dr wants me BMI as close to 50 as possible. She told me 15lbs and she would be happy...i'm shooting for more like 25-30. If I lose 40lbs i will be exactly at a BMI of 50.0. Anything is better then where I am now! :w00t: -

YEA!!! Dec Bandsters! I'm getting banded Dec 4. I am on my preop diet now..and have been for a week...hasn't been fun but if I can make it thought this then I know I can do the surgery. My family is behind me 100%! Congrats all you Dec bandsters!!! Lets start the new year off with a bang! -
I have surgery on the 4th of Dec and am on the liquid and low carb diet for 5 week...horribe I know but will be well worth it. I have found a couple of different protien things that are not too bad. There is the PureProtein Shakes...the Banana Cream is pretty good. It has 35G of protein in a 12 oz can. Only 2 carbs. The choloclate and cookies and cream are pretty good as well. I also like Cytosport Protein pure performance Drink (like gatorade) but it has 40G of protein and NO carbs. The watermelon is so YUMMY! They also have the pure portein shots that are 42g of protein 2 carbs zero sugar and zero fat. 2 drinks and you have 42g of protein done. Hope that helps...i went to our vitamin store and they helped me mix it up.

My dr has put me on the famous high protein low carb diet. I can have no more than 30G of carbs per day. I am having no trouble getting in my protein but having difficulty finding things I will eat with low carbs...i'm sticking to the main ones I know I will eat (ie: chicken turkey cheese) Anything suggestions?

BMI is above 50...not sure if dr will approve for surgery
Stewy929 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey everyone...thought I would see if anyone had a situation like mine. When meeting with the nutrionist last week he told me my BMI was high 57. He told me that my dr might not do the surgery because they like to have your BMI below 50. All of my test results were great...blood work was fine..he said my liver level was a little elevated that was it. I go to see my surgeron Next Thursday 10/30. The nutrionist has put me on an 1500 Calorie diet that I am sticking to like glue and the weight is coming off. Im so scared my surgeon is going to tell me I have to wait until my BMI is below 50. I will be so disappointed. I have been waiting a long time for this surgery. I'm getting married in Aug and we want to have a family. Anyone gone through this? -

Well just wanted to give everyone an update.....I got my surgery date!!!!! WOOOHOOO! It's Dec 4. My dr wants me to do the preop diet for a month to really shrink my liver and to get my BMI to 53. Also I have lost 8 lbs on the 1500 Calorie diet. She was excited about that. I know this preop diet for a month is gonna stink but I know it will all be worth it in the end. -
