I have gone from a tight 26/28 to a normal 22/24. It's nice. I am keeping my pants that are a size 26/28. The funny thing is I went to Lane Bryant this weekend to get a sweat suit set..and without thinking picked up a 26/28. Got home and they are WAY to big...have to take them back for sure. Some of my shirts are too big now too...those will turn into my sleep shirts!

I was banded 2 weeks ago and having the same issue. I can't feel restriction. I am eating mooshies...and don't really eat alot because I am scared of messing up my band. I have also gained 2lbs since starting mooshies...dr said it's normal but still i hate seeing the scale go backwards.

Question about eating with new band :O)
Stewy929 replied to PardoBird's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The gas/burping will calm down in about a week - week and a half post op. Well at least mine did. Try to not swallow air..I know sound stupid but it's what my dr said as you swallow try to push the air out through your nose. Seemed to help. I was banded on the 4th and I am completely gas free. :smile2: -
Banded 12/4 and having a tough time!
Stewy929 replied to Makenzie78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was also banded on the 4th. I am not having the pain so much but nausea and gas rumbling through my tummy. I also started running a fever last night. It's a low one and it hovering at 100. I have an appt with my dr tomorrow. Another issue I have is diaheria. I can't seem to get rid of it. I think it's just because I’m on liquids but did anyone else have that problem. The good news is I am down 10lbs since the surgery. The dr was able to put a smaller band than she thought on and said I would be on liquids an extra week. which means I still have 2 more weeks of liquids. I have not really felt hunger. At least I don’t think I have. I am having a hard time distinguishing between hunger pains and gas pains. It might sound stupid but it's just weird. I can't really tell. I am hoping things will get better as the days progress. Most of the time I feel ok...but normally late evening is when I start going downhill. Hang in there! It has to get better! -
Hey everyone. Figured I would come on in and post. I'm officailly banded...(Dec 4th) Recovery has not been so bad...just the stupid Gas pain...I started walking the day of the surgery. Fiance' and I went out twice that night for 5 min walks. The next day was up to 4 5 min walks. Really gets the gas moving. I have been off pain meds now since Sat morning. Still battling some nausea off and on...so continuing to take that as needed. Incision pains are not that bad...when they get aggrivated I just put some ice on them and it fixes the problem. I haven't felt hungery really...but not really able to drink alot either right now...about 10oz a day. Anyways just figured I would let everyone know how I was doing. Best of luck to all the future bandsters and quick healing for all of us that have been banded. I am so glad I made this decision.

Stewy929 replied to Keshia Monae's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You can also buy the ISOPURE powder to make your own. The Vitamin Shoppe has all different flavors. I on the other hand was not a huge fan of the ISOPURE. -
What is your Age/Date/Weight/Location?
Stewy929 replied to BubblyBandit's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm Vicki and I'm 26. My surgery date is 12/4/08 (3 more days). My starting weight was 375, Current Weight 348. My goal weight is 160. Getting banded in Austin TX by the wonderful Dr. Bridgett Brady. -
My Surgery date is Thursday..I just got off the phone with one of nurse's who ask you a million and one questions before you surgery. All of a sudden i'm feeling so anxious...and scared...I'm so scared that i will wake up with no band. I had to lose 15lbs before the sugery and I've lost 27 as of right now...I know I shouldn't be scared but darn it I am. Ugghh...and I have to get more preop testing done because mine expired (stupid dr's office for waiting 3 months to schedule the surgery) These next 3 days are gonna be so hard and I am sure filled with LITTLE sleep.

Mini goal by New Years Day?? Any takers??
Stewy929 replied to Losing_It_In_Texas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'M in. I want to lose 25lbs by New year. This is reasonable for me. I've got one more week on my pre op diet and then I will be banded the 4th of Dec. Gives me about 6 weeks to lose 25lbs. That would be 4lbs per week. I think I can do it! -
Banded & Hoping to get Preg - join in!
Stewy929 replied to eejaydiva's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Ejmdiva I am so happy for you! I am not banded yet (surgery Dec 4) but the purpose of getting this band is so we can have kids. I have been checking on this thread every couple of days to follow your story! I am so excited for you!! I got chills when I read you were pregnant! You give me lots of hope! I need to lose about 100lbs before we can start trying. My fiance will also have to have a reversal done (he has 3 kids from his previous marriage) I feel like the cards are stacked high against us to have our own children. I know it's all in God's hands and it will happen when it is suppose to happen. Congrats again! -
**I want to be able to wear sexy lingerie for my fiancé/husband without feeling stupid and like a beached whale. (he never minds and is always excited when I put one on) **I want to be able to go to Corpus and hang on the beach only in my swimsuit...not swimsuit plus shorts and shirts. **I want to be the one when all the girls go out get's asked to dance. (I love to 2 step and will only be asked by the wingman of the guy who is trying to hit on my best friend and yes even though I'm engaged I will still dance to any non romantic song with anyone who asks) **I want to be able to wear my fiancé/husbands clothes and look sexy in panties and one of his shirts. **I want to be able to shop at Victoria’s secret for cute and matching panties and bra's. **I want to wear a button up white shirt with a lose tie and red heals for a photo shoot. **I really want to be a cute pregnant person who has pictures of her cute basketball tummy. **I want to go to my 10 year high school reunion and have no one recognize me. ** I want to make every jerk who ever dumped me because I was just too fat or wouldn't date me just cause I was too fat eat their words and be extremely jealous of my fiancé/husband because he loved me fat and he will love me skinny and he won the ultimate prize. And the big one **I want to break the chain of obesity in my family tree. (EVERYONE IS obese)

B4 & After Banding
Stewy929 replied to Lady Lap Band's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am just on the before...surgery is Dec 4. My diet is pretty simple to remember. 1) 70g of Protein a day 2) no more than 30g Carbs per day 3) Fat in moderation -
Lots and lots of cranberry juice here too! Works for me everytime...haven't had to take a perscription in many years now. As soon as we are done doing the "deed" I get up and go clean myself...I use baby wipes... I make sure I drink at least one glass a day of cranberry juice.

I know it's been awhile since you posted this but I will tell you had a 3 years of walking in a cast boot because of fractures and achille's strains in my left foot. I can't tell you how many stress fractures I had...when the whole thing started i was about 275...at my hightest up to 375. My left ankle is still very weak and just stepping wrong getting out of bed makes me fall to the ground. My dr said loosing weight will help but will not be an all time cure. I have had 4 surgries in 2 years to help fix some of the issues and will have to have one more in about a year. LOTS of PT and that seemed to help alot as well. You might want to see a podiatrist and see if they will put you in a walking boot...they give TONS of support...they have an AIR walking boot that is kinda like your brace but can go up to mid calf or to knee...and it has the air pockets on the side you can blow up to keep your foot and ankle in one place. I know it wasn't a help but a podiatrist can be wonderful...I know mine was! Everytime I hurt my foot I would go back into the boot for about a week or so...and then start all over...was it fun NO...didn't it help YES.

I just started my preop diet a week and a half ago (70g protein no more than 30g carb per day and little fat)...my monthly friend came this weekend...i was so craving chocolate...that is all I want...so I gave in and had a as in 1 piece of a carmel chocolate square I wrote it in my food journal and counted the carbs. Got me over my fix and I made sure I only had 1.

I can really tell too...i could tell in my clothes how wierd it shouds but pants were not as tight and the sleeves on my shirts were not as tight! The dr wanted me to lose 15lbs in 5 weeks...I'm already half way there! I'm shooting for hte bigger goal of 30-40lbs pre op. Anyways I just had to share!! Best of luck to all you bandsters!

Oh well come this time next year I will be a healthier and skinnier me!!!

My surgery date is Dec 4th. I was lucky and didn't have to do much preop testing. Listed below for ya Psy Eval Blood work EKG Excercise Consult Nutrional Consult Everything came back good except for my liver function. Dr said it was elevated just a little bit. The dr wanted me to start my preop diet early and be on it for 5 weeks vs the 2 she normally puts her patients on. Best of luck to you!

Protein for me has been rather easy. I have to have 70g per day right now before my surgery. I usually get in about 100-120. I really like this drink called ProTein pure performance drink. it has 40g or protein (kinda like gatorade) 0 carbs but does have alot of calories 160...but it works on gettin in the protein..then I just eat the rest of mine with chicken tuna eggs and cheese...

I had a starting BMI of 58. i'm 5'8" and was a 374lbs when i went in. My dr just asked me why I wanted the band vs bypass I told her my reasons and she was fine with it. She also said I would make a great canidate. I did all of my preop testing and all of it came back normal. I met with my nutrionist who put me on a 1500 calorie diet where i lost 8lbs. I went and saw my surgeon one last time on 10-30. She was happy with the -8lbs but wanted me to start my preop diet that day. (70g protien no more than 30g carb per day). She wants me to lose at least 15 more lbs to get my BMI at 53. Try talking to your dr. If they do not agree to do the band I would go see another Dr. It's your body. You decide! SNOWBIRD ~ My dr also told me that another reason to lose as much weight as possible was so she could fit the smaller 8cc band around my stomach instead of the 10cc band. She said with some of her larger patients she has to use the bigger band and as they lose weight they will have to have another surgery to go to the smaller band to reach the sweet spot.

I dont see my dr till the day of my surgery. When i went and saw my nutritionist he gave me a packet to follow but not much guidance other than clear liquids; full liquids, mooshy; solids
