Renita replied to SoCalCass's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey October Bandsters! Just wanted to check in. I am glad to see everyone is doing well..I have lost about 43 lbs total..pre and post op. I have had three fills and now have much better restriction now..I think one more may be my "golden ticket".lol It is still hard mentally to re think my eating habits but I am learning..I think that the slow process is actually a learning curve to wrap my brain around the entire lifestyle change. Some days are harder than others but overall I am happy with my band  ~Renita~ -

Hello Everyone! Just checking in, glad to see everyone is doing good. I had my first fill this morning and it was not painful at all. I was nervous about the needle but I really didn't even feel it. I was able to get 3.5 cc's put in and now an back on liquids for a few days. I have lost 17 lbs since the actual surgery and 16 from pre-op so that puts me at 33 lbs total  Renita -
When I was on mushies I liked to get the deviled ham in the little cans and mix it with a little mayo and a tiny bit of dill relish..YUMMY! It was only a few ounces but it was so filling to me at that time. I get my first fill November 21st and can't wait. Renita

Sometimes people include their pre-op weightloss on their tickers...keep that in mind :tongue2: renita

You can also find the "off brands" that work just as good and are alot less expensive..our JC Penny's actually has one for 19.00 that is really nice. Renita -
How much weight did you lose in the first month?
Renita replied to Brandy~'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Judie, Do you mind if I steal your idea? That is great about getting a to go box to remove food so you don't "over eat"!! I was raised to clean your plate and if the food is there I feel like I need to eat it...from now on I will do what you suggested when out to eat  Renita -
Hello Everyone, I am pretty new here and will be having the lap-band October 8th :girl_hug: I was reading and searching online and came across a website called Bariatic Choice--has anyone tried any of the vitimans or protein supplements from this site? The prices didn't seem to bad for a "one stop shop".lol The link is below: Thanks,Renita www.bariatricchoice.com

Hello from the Mississippi Gulf Coast!
Renita replied to TerryInez's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello! I am from Mississippi also...Gautier. I was banded on October 8th by Dr.Avera in Ocean Springs. I will get my first fill November 21'st and can't wait. I have been doing good only lost 11 lbs since the surgery but as long as it is a loss I am happy  Glad to see another person from here. Take Care, renita -
Keep in mind that on The Biggest Loser they are working out 6 hours a DAY...and they have trainers on them all of the time. I do enjoy the show and try to pretend I am on it at the walking track--ha-- however those reality shows are NOT reality at all and I saw on Oprah the other day when they did a follow up of people that were on the show..some had a hard time when they went home and back into the "real world". So just keep the focus on you and what you are doing and I think you will be fine. I know it is frustrating because I just got banded on the 8th of Oct. and I feel like for all that I have changed in my life and with all of the walking I am doing I should be a stick by now.lol But, I am 37 and I know this weight didn't happen overnight. Good luck to everyone. Renita

I have to agree Kashi is THE BEST!! I actually found some at a discount store and decided to give it a try and it is really good compared to others I have tried..I add ice and a little sugar free jello pudding mix with it and it tastes just like a milk shake:smile2: I also use a bullet type personal mixers and it is really good for mixing up the protein drinks. Josiegurl--Exactly, my family loves my kids and they are really pretty good overall but my parents are older and my in-laws probably couldn't handle it all daily . Just for me to go for surgery it seemed I had to write a book on what to do around here..for my hubby too. Although I love him and he is a good man sometimes men need "direction".ha Good Luck with everything. Renita -

Ruby124, Don't over worry..easy for me to say now since my surgery was on Oct 8th. I did the same thing..I have three kids, two with autism so all I kept thinking was what if something happens to me choosing an "elective" surgery, what will happen to my kids! But, now that it is behind me I can say look how much longer I may live now to be here for my children  It will be fine, good luck to everyone who's surgery is coming up! Renita -

:tongue_smilie: Cattoy...I didn't even realize the typo until you mentioned it and I re-read my post ..lol..glad you got a laugh..It was probably a subliminal message..feeling pretty "turdy" at that point I remember. Actually, the redness and all has gone and I am not even two weeks out yet. I feel much better although I don't have any restriction right now, can't wait until my first fill..hopefully that will help me with at least a little restriction...isn't until Nov 21 though. MonkeyBand-- Hey...I feel your "pain" I went through the same thing as you are going through on Sunday--4 days post op. You are in the "mourning stage" and it gets better believe it or not. My post op plan says I can have thinned, strained, cream Soups. I know everyone's is different but those have saved my life. I do get the low sodium because I know that is better for Fluid retention and I am a retainer! Don't feel bad about the small "gains" I have read different threads that sometimes this happens after surgery...this is the healing stage so don't put all of your eggs in the scale basket.lol Hang in there..tomorrow is another day:thumbup: Renita -

Mississippi Girl, I am from Mississippi too so I guess we think alike when it comes to food! I mean what good is fish if it ain't fried?..lol I will have to get that book you mentioned. Now that I have been "starving" I think I will come out on the other end with a new appreciation for food. I will be sooo good if I could only have a bite! I know this band is a "tool" and I don't feel the tight restriction as of yet, hopefully that will come later after a fill or so to help me help myself :smile2: Take Care, Renita -

That is funny that we are close to the same with our menu. GNC has the protein vials that I add to my water, you should try them. New Whey Liquid Protein 42g - 12 Vials by IDS Sports, Supplements.Net I am worried about the protein because I don't want to loose any hair..I am a little older than you and have the "big 80's hair" as my daughter likes to say :smile2: and I want to keep it... regardless of my 14 year olds comments. Don't know if you want my sample menu but here is an idea, maybe others can add theirs and we can all share ideas: I have a protein shake in the morning 29 grams of protein. I take my vitimans-all chewable Then I have 2 oz broth I have my water always w/a protein slam mixed in-27 grams I sip on it all day and inbetween "eating" since your not supposed to eat and drink. popsicle or jello if I want a snack supper--thinned cream soup strained-2-3 oz Also keep in mind that it takes me an hour to eat my 2-3 oz of soup because it says to eat it very slowly in my manual. I am also supposed to be getting in more protein than I am so I am ordering the Unjury to add to my broth/soup to help with that. Hope that gives you an idea but maybe someone else has a "better plan" they can share..add. What is your plan like? Renita. -

Love the cooking shows too!! But, I like Paula Deen :smile2: and she ins't known for healthy dishes...but she is so funny to watch. I was able to watch it Saturday for a little while but when she did filet mignon I had to turn it. I would love some meat protein!! To the Smashing Pumpkin that bought the roast and couldn't eat it but prepared it for your family--you win a purple heart! lol I am not sure I could go there. My husband has been cooking for my kids because I am a "tester" while I cook. Renita -

I actually had a protein shake the day before while on "clear liquids" and called the doctor..they said that was ok but to only have the clear the rest of the day until "fasting" at midnight. Renita -

At least I am not alone with some of these feelings. I guess I have known for a long time that this would be a tool and that I would have to make the changes everyday in habits and choices but when it's right here in your lap it is a struggle..at least for me at this point. I am sure everyday will get better. It is almost like you prepare and plan then before you know it it is here and you like ok what just happened.lol I do appreciate everyone's own stories and am glad to know that we are all supporting each other in this journey to our new lives. ((Hugs)) & Love to everyone!! renita
