whey protein shakes or medifast better
Inspiremeslim replied to camsmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I LOVE the visalus shakes... By the time you put milk in them they have around 18 grams of protein ... PACKED with vitamins....gluten free lactose free less than a gram of sugar... And it tastes like cake mix! Plus I flavor them however I want! I don't know what I ever did before I found them!! -
I was wondering if anyone had ever experienced this same phenomenon I have, and If I should be worried. I was banded almost 3 years ago with no complications to date. But I have noticed that when I get very sleep deprived i get excruciating abdominal pain. Its almost like my band hurts. When I finally get some sleep, it goes away. Its also better once I sit, but when I stand and walk...it intensifies. Im just beginning to get concerned about it. Has anyone else experienced this?!

As weird as this sounds...the one thing that almost CURED me of my gas issues in my shoulders post op...was the get on the floor and put my head and shoulders on the ground with my rump in the air and rock...it worked the gas out of my shoulders...and gas strips....I had DEBILITATING gas post op and someone told me to do this...thank GOD it helps SO much!

Papaya enzyme I have heard is used for stuck occasions...taken with water maybe? I have never used that remedy. One that i SWEAR by is meat tenderizer...shake a small amount of meat tenderizer in a small sip of water when you get stuck and sip it back works like a charm. Also I have heard the a cap full of diet coke works well, I have also sucked on sugar free candy that seems to work pretty well. As far as the constipation, drink LOTS AND LOTS of water. I recommend a camel back bottle, there is a straw but it doesn't put extra air in your pouch because the water does not sink back into the bottle. These bottles for SOME reason make you drink 3x as much water. Also I take a fiber supplement EVERY SINGLE DAY since I was banded and realized this was a problem. If you cannot tolerate the pills, use the benefiber mix its great! And it also comes in flavored packs you can mix in water!!! Hope that helps! How far out are yoU!

I know many of us....have been through tub after TUB of Protein powder. Many of these powders while having decent amounts of protein are impossible to choke down, and are just plain NASTY!!! I wanted to share with you all a product that I found that has litterally changed my life as a lap band patient. I HATE THE TASTE OF PROTEIN...it gags me. I finally got to a point where I just wouldn't drink it, and my weight loss really suffered from it. Then another gastric patient introduced me to Visalus. Visalus is a protein supplement, that is was rumored to taste like cake batter...I thought it was a load of crap until I tried it. I kid you not, the powder smells and TASTES like vanilla cake batter. Its unbelievable I have never in my life had something like it. Since I started using it, I have gotten rid of every other protein supplement I own. You will never need another. My shakes average 28 Grams of protein, and keep in mind your body only absorbs 30 at a time. I wanted to share this because I know some of you are struggling with not loosing anything for a long time and this BELIEVE ME will give you the kick that you need. I had been stuck at 5o lbs lost for about 1 year...and no matter what I did I could not get ANYWHERE...after a week of using Visalus I was down another 10 lbs. I cried like a baby on the scales because I was having success again, and it has just continued to get better. If you are interested in the protein and the products come check them out at http://michellegilmore.myvi.net/ Feel free to get ahold of me personally I will be more than happy to answer any questions you have about the products from a lab band patients point of view!

I live and swear by Visalus. Its the best tasting Protein on the market. Seriously...I have thrown away THOUSANDS of dollars worth of protein over the years until I found this stuff....tastes like cake batter...I kid you not.... http://michellegilmore.myvi.net/

Inspiremeslim replied to Inspiremeslim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dont panic if your pounds pledged do not show up right away!!! The group has to reach a total of 4 members in order for them to show! But I am sure we will get there quick!! Spread the word!! -
Does this mean my port is leaking?
Inspiremeslim replied to kerpley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It looks to me like you are definitely infected. Have you been running a temp? The fluid coming from your incision looks like infected wound drainage. You REALLY need to get it looked at ASAP. -
Does anyone do Weight Watchers?
Inspiremeslim replied to MaineJackie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been banded for 2 years and I just started WW.....reason being accountability ......I modify the program a little bit to fit my band needs. They focus a lot on fiber etc....I modify my points lower....and focus more on protein etc. But I would recommend it ! -
I was curious if any of your bandsters have tried Click Protein. I am awaiting my FREE sample ...which is in the mail....Just curious if anyone had any opinions on it!? If you have NOT tried it....Head on over to their website Make every moment CLICK with the first and only espresso protein drink! and go to contact us.....ask for a free sample and tell them Michelle Gilmore sent you and they will hook you right up! They are the best! Thanks guys!

Is this where it ends? Need Advice from "experienced" Bands
Inspiremeslim replied to Princess losealot's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can completely sypathize with you! Im 9 months post op and it took me until I was 8ccs in a 14 cc band to get to my sweet spot...i think it was 4 fills ....pay attention not just to how much you are eating but WHAT you are eating...i have a NASTY habit of eating things some people call slider foods....things that dont stay in your band...like chips Cookies etc...you want to eat high Protein things not only because they are good for you ..but because they make you feel fulling longer...you can get all the fills you want but until we eat right...not gonna work..... Second you need to do more than just walk...get out do some vigorous exercise I bought a Gowear fit if you dont know what they are ...google them. ( gowearfit.com) ..coolest thing EVER they track your calories in... calories out steps etc.......3500 calories = a pound so in order to loose a pound you must burn 3500 more calories than you eat....keep track of what goes in your mouth...it makes a HUGE difference..and DONT GIVE UP!!!! keep moving and keep trying it will come to you!:tongue2::thumbup: -

Have you ever experienced extremely low blood pressure (93/58) after being banded?
Inspiremeslim replied to Losing_It_In_Texas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This TOTALLY started to happen to me when i really kicked my workouts up. It was sooo bad one day that I got done running and got my stuff to leave the gym and didnt know if i was going to be able to walk about much less drive....i did anyway but it was SUPER dangerous when I made it home my BP was crazy low for me as was my heart rate. I had to triple my fluid intake which helped a little but then after much experimenting i found out that i needed to add some more carbs to my diet. For some reason that straightend everything out. -

Inspiremeslim replied to FBSLover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
