I don't know how I missed this post when it was posted but I am living it now! I am 11 days post op surgery 12/15/16. I feel like I have been on an emotional roller coaster since surgery! My mother had RNY 14 years ago and says this is exactly how she felt. Not much comfort to me lately. I too had "buyers remorse" my 1st night in the hospital. I know i did his for my kids but that doesn't make it any easier not being able to lift or do everything I always did. I think I have better days when my hubby is at work and my kids at day care. Then it's less obvious what I can and can't have or do. I am going to try the RTD premier Protein shakes. It's worth a shot since I can't seem to get the hang of mixing half and unjury. It's good to know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

It was never given an option as 2 parts for surgery but expected recovery time for being off work is 3 weeks. That seemed so little to me but a week out if feels more reasonable now than the day after surgery. The incision that hurts the lost is the one where they took my stomach out of. Wow that still sounds just as weird as when my surgeon said it to me lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

It actually went pretty good. We went up where I work to send a fax and check the pharmacy so that was a lot of walking before shopping too. Made it through Christmas shopping and picking up the new Vitamins to start. I kept my binder on the whole time and it made getting in and out of the car easier. Plus it gave my back some support. I came home and took almost a 3 hr nap. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I'm doing pretty good now. I had my one week followup today. They pulled my drain and I don't have to wear the abdominal binder all the time anymore. I will probably sleep with it since rolling over can be rough. My incisions are healing good but my whole belly itches like crazy! I am 19 lbs down from pre-surgery appt, 8 from the pre-surgery diet and 11 since surgery. I'm not gonna lie the first few days I was miserable. The gas pain after surgery is no joke. Between that and not getting to my room until 8pm it kept me in the hospital an extra night. Then first time I tried the Prevacid sprinkled in applesauce I end up getting sick 3 times and went to ER to get checked being home less than 10 hours. I didn't want to get dehydrated my 1st night home. Nothing has sounded or tasted good to me except pretty much ice Water. Couldn't stand the SF Jello or broth. So I was happy to go up to full liquids today. I have taken it slow and only done soy milk in decaf coffee and tomato Soup for dinner with my hubby and kids. Plus they told me to start the D3 again, B12 and any probiotic that is a tablet. Still a lot of gas and cramping. But I am trying to get steps in. Tomorrow will be a real test going Christmas shopping and being out for the first time for any length of time/distance. Did I mention the added bonus of having my period since surgery? I've not missed it one bit since it stopped when I got my Mirena IUD in Sept 2014. I didn't realize how much I had to say lol. I still can't believe I am on the other side of this surgery. Very surreal

I am now 4 days out from my BPD W/ DS. I can't believe that I am on the other side of this 2nd surgery. I chose this surgery for the best success/outcomes after getting this 2nd chance. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

What kind of pre-surgery diet is everyone one doing? I've read some people are on just Clear liquids. Mine surgery has me doing a high protein/low carb/NO sugar and 3 Protein shakes a day for 2 weeks. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Finally approved for Revision Surgery

After having my Lap-Band in for 8 years with issue after issue and 2 babies I had it taken out Sept 1st. My surgeon was "hopeful" that Priority Health, sticklers for sticking my by their "One surgery per lifetime" policy would approve a 2nd surgery. It took a lot of documentation over the last 8 years but it was finally approved. I had 3 years of documented fills and unfills right after surgery and the most recent with band removal to back up the why should cover it. I am still in shock and cautious about my approval. It is very much a mental thing going through all this. Especially since in 2012 I had appealed for a 2nd surgery all the way to State level. But here it is, just waiting for my surgery date. I think it will be December 15th but need to get confirmation from the 2nd surgeon that it is okay that day. My surgeon wants him to do it with him since he has done more of that procedure. With 2 little ones at home, I am more than happy to have 2 surgeons working on me with such a big surgery. I feel like I can finally focus now with all waiting to see what was going to happen with approval behind me. Now I can start pre-paring for my big day. Sorry for rambling, its been a long time coming.- 6 replies

This is probably a silly question but is everybody taking bariatric Vitamins or regular over-the-counter? It might just be who I am reading it but it sounds like over-the-counter. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

It totally changes the game after having kids. When I was first appealing my insurance for the 2nd surgery I didn't have kids and didn't give it a 2nd thought. I was looking at RNY but have since heard of this procedure from my surgeon. I was all geeked and prepped for it until I did my official consult and the risks now that reality has hit it could get approved this time. Love that, Do what ya gotta do. Thanks for your input.
