Just popping by to say hi! Nearly a year now for us all,how time flies! How is everyone? Lindsay, you look incredible! So inspiring! I'm doing well. I've lost 48.5 kilos, or 107 pounds. I've lost 31.2 percent of my starting weight. Still need to lose a lot more as I started out heavier than most of you, but that's ok! Hoping for 32.5 more kilos (71 pounds), then we'll see how much lower my body let's me go as anither 22 pounds woukd be great. I still have a lot of belly fat, it's very squishy though. Legs are tiny, hubby calls them chicken legs! Life is certainly a lot easier, no more huffing and puffing. I eat really well and allow occasional treats. Always thinking of you @Synlee, how are you? Even my husband asks how you are on occasion! -
Stomach growling in hunger?
CarolineLittle replied to AmberFL's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It might not be hunger, it's rare to actually feel that so soon. It's more likely digestive noises. They are loud and often early on. They do calm down over time, but even now at nearly 9 months out I do get noisy still on occasion. Especially with fluid or after eating watermelon. -
7 Months Post Op Normalities?
CarolineLittle replied to TippyDScale's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved 10 May, all good here, no issues. I've been lucky enough to lose every week, apart from a 10 day plateau 2 weeks after surgery. I put my success down to tracking daily and hitting my protein goal consistently. I eat really well for the most part too apart from an occasional treat. I eat carbs, I'm learning to accept that carbs aren't the devil. I don't eat bread itself much, but enjoy low carb wraps daily. Also been having a muktigrain muffin every day with peanut butter. It's 20 carbs, not terrible IMHO. I include brown rice, pasta, potato, protein is the focus of course. Of a meal carbs might make up a quarter for example. My carbs average around a hundred a day, give or take. I'm a vegetarian so the bulk of it comes from legumes and vegetables, also fruit which I eat daily. -
It will get better. The first 6 weeks are really difficult. It's a lot. Once you settle into normal foods and a bit of a food routine you'll feel a lot better physically, mentally and emotionally. I found that the normal food stage allowed me to rediscover food in an enjoyable way. If pain continues get it checked out though, pain when eating isn't normal.

CarolineLittle replied to WVJess2Less's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just checking in too! Today is 6 months since I had surgery, around this time I was nervous as heck whole finishing up being prepped. I'm down to 117 kilos, for a total loss of 38 kilos, or 83 pounds. I've lost 24.5% of my starting weight. I'm just 2 kilos away from being halfway to my big goal of reaching 75 kilos. Everything is going well, I've lost every week with no stalls apart from Week 2. So gateful for that! I still need to be better with fluid and definitely need to be more active. My weight loss is very obvious, especially in my tummy, arms and face. Down 3 to 4 dress sizes which is fantastic. @SynleeI how are you going hon? Lindsay, wow! You look incredible, well done! Lipman, you're rocking it as always! -
TMI Poop Talk
CarolineLittle replied to jacquelynn22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It took me 2 long weeks! Pretty sure I took Colace and still had to strain when going. Then another 2 weeks. It was still hard at the time to go, but soon after things went back to normal. I did have to try a home enema, but what worked best was glycerine suppositories, also Prunelax cleared me out the last time I was backed up. So much so I've been regular since. -
Best way to get protein
CarolineLittle replied to TiffanyY2's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I use it every day, it's definitely worth the money and the best appliance I've bought this year. There's definitely a few bad stories out there but I think those instances are exceedingly rare. When things do go wrong Ninja seem to be very good at quickly replacing it from what I've read. -

Just checking in. It's 21 weeks since I was sleeved now. I'm down to 120.9 kilos, for a total loss of 34.1 kilos, or 75 pounds. I've lost exactly 22% of my total weight. I'm 5.9 kilos away from being halfway to my big goal of 75 kilos. Everything is going well, I need to be better with fluid and definitely need to be more active. My weight loss is very obvious, especially in my tummy. Down about 3 dress sizes I think, I haven't really been clothes shopping yet. I do need to though, especially for pants. I still have tops I can wear that were once too tight. I hope you're all well and @SynleeI hope you're closer to getting answers. -
Best way to get protein
CarolineLittle replied to TiffanyY2's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Frozen Yoghurt. I have a Ninja Creami and it's been the best thing ever. I have one or two serves (170mls a serve) every day. Always one at night, sometimes for breakfast too. They're usually at least 23 grams of protein a serve, up to a whoppimg 30 grams, depending on the brand of yoghurt I use and flavour. My faves lately are good old Vanilla and Malted Milk. I often have at least one low carb wrap with cheese a day too, that's around 15 grams of protein. Lately I've also been adding salsa before heating it up, nom nom. I'm a vegetarian and it can be hard to get my meals anywhere over 12 grams of protein, so the frozen yoghurt and wrap help a great deal and are delicious, I'm consistently getting 80 to 90 grams of protein a day at 21 weeks post sleeve. Yesterday was 101 grams! I've had the Creami for a couple months now I think. -
Unable to get enough fluids or protein 5 weeks post-op
CarolineLittle replied to Jlw1403's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I didn't hit protein goals until about 10 weeks probably. It's very hard in those early days and I just gave myself the grace knowing I'd get there. It was hard because of the small amounts your stomach could handle and it got so much easier once I settled into a good routine and started being able to eat more per meal. The biggest way I get huge amounts of protein daily is through yoghurt, buy high protein ones and add protein powder. I have a Ninja Creami and make frozen yoghurt that gives me heaps of protein. My current fave flavour is Malted Milk and a serve is 28 grams of protein. My biggest suggestion is to really plan your days out and start eating as soon as you can otherwise time can get away from you. Focus on high protein foods, meats, dairy, legumes, low carb wraps are great. I have a wrap with cheese and salsa every day, it's about 15 grams of protein and delicious with a quick stint in the microwave. I'm not great with fluids myself. It will get easier, be kind to yourself and just try to do your best each day. I'm down 72 pounds so my early struggles did not affect my progress. This is a marathon not a sprint. -
Hey all. I'm about 4.5 months out from being sleeved at 50 (now 51)and doing really well. I'm down 32.7 kilograms (72 pounds). My BMI is down from 67 to just under 53 and I've lost 21% of my total weight. I'm tolerating all foods fine although rice does sit a bit h3avy. I rarely have it so not a big deal. Hitting protein goals with ease, need to be better with fluids. I can't wait to see where this journey continues to take me!

Lipman, you are killing it! Great job! Lindsay, under 200 is incredible and you're not that far-off your goal. Amazing! I'm still consistently losing weekly and haven't had a stall since the dreaded 2 week PO one. This week I lost 1.5 kilos (3.3 pounds), I had a similar loss the week before too. Usually they're less so it's been nice! So I'm 28.7 kilograms (63 pounds) down since the pre op diet. I've lost 18.5% of my total weight. They estimate you lose around 30% on average the first year, I'm well on the way there at 14 weeks PO. I'm eating really well and had been getting over 70 grams of protein a day consistently but that's dropped the past week. Some of it was due to little hunger and feeling more restriction. Need to make sure my main meals are a bit higher in protein. I really need to do better with fluids, it's always been an issue. And exercise needs to become a habit, I bought an exercise bike so no excuses now! Overall though I'm doing great. A bit low energy this week and for some reason I've thrown up my dinner 2 nights in a row? Eating too fast perhaps or my tummy rejected potato that was airfried? First time I'd been sick since surgery. Lindsay I highly recommend the Ninja Creami if you love your ice cream as you can make your own healthier versions. I've had mine about a month and love it. I have a bowl every day of homemade frozen yoghurt. Last night was vanilla sprinkled with raspberry and coconut granola, 20 grams protein. I made a strawberry one earlier this week using strawberry yogurt and fresh strawberries that was soooo good, hubby and 19yo loved it too, definitely making it again. I hope everyone here is doing well, especially @Synlee. -

Food Aversions After Surgery
CarolineLittle replied to MasonMoonGirl's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I don't really have an aversion to any food. I don't particularly crave sweet things though, like chocolates, lollies and baked goods. It'd be good if that lasted! If I get a rare sugar craving something like an orange usually satisfies it. I definitely don't hanker for fast food like I used too either, I'm eating great and am enjoying what I'm making. -
So happy for you Lindsay!

@Synlee how are you faring? I think of you often. @LindsayT I'm doing really well. I'm still losing weekly, with only one stall at 2 weeks out. Last month I lost 5 kilos, I'd be delighted to lose that each month. If I did I would reach my major goal around a year out. I'm having to remind myself to celebrate the entire journey and the accomplishments along the way. Because if I focus on the end goal it feels so far away and can become quite a depressing thought. Do any of you have a Ninja Creami? It's been a game changer for me, making it so much easier to meet my protein goals. I make high protein frozen yoghurt, so dang delicious! The batch I have at the moment is 23.6 grams of protein per half cup, low carb and low fat. Definitely noticing changes in clothing sizes too which is wonderful. I'd love to know how everyone else is going, please check in. -
One last hurrah?
CarolineLittle replied to MsTeeTee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Last hurrah's are great, but not this close to surgery. I had mine before I started the 4 week pre op diet. I know some people do have one last favourite meal close to surgery time, it's up to you. If you're going to I would do it now not the day before. Good luck with your surgery! -

@Synlee Big hugs. Your situation is so horrible. I hope answers can be found asap. They still have no idea what's wrong? -
1.7 kilograms lost the past week, well before was 1.4. Very happy! Stepping on the scales is weird, I anticipate the worst for some reason, the relief is great when the numbers keep going down. I'm sitting on 131.2 now, I'll be I the 120's next week or the week after! 150's, 140's, 130's, coming for you 120's!

I'm 50 and was sleeved 9 weeks ago today. Going really well and have no regrets. Lost 1.7 kgs the past week, have lost 17 kgs since my surgery. Just one stall so far.
