Welcome to LBT! Have you been to any of the St. Al's support group meetings yet? If so, we may have met. There havn't been too many presurgery people there the last couple of months so I would probably remember you if you have! The Idaho Bandsters Yahoo group is meeting for dinner at PF Changs on Thursday at 6:30. This is not the most weight-loss freindly restaurant so you might want to opt out this month. I'm thankful I'm going for a much needed fill on Wednesday so I shouldn't be able to over-indulge too much! :guess My surgery was done by Dr. Anderson. His presurgery requirements were not nearly so strict. He wanted me to lose weight but I didn't have to do the "slimfast/veggie" thing. He didn't care how I lost and only didn't seem to care how much as long as I showed progress. I can't imagine the mental struggle you must be battleing. (Well, yes I can and i know it sucks). Don't feel too bad though, you are definately not the first of Dr. Cahn's patients to have to reschedule! I know you will make it though! And it will be so worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep us posted on your progress and feel free to pm me if you have any more questions or just need some extra motivation!

Hi Randy, You might want to post your question in the Lap Band Insurance thread. Here is a link: http://lapbandtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=8 Are you in Idaho? What surgeon are you seeing?
-
Bezoldme, You are in the hardest part of the process. You don't have to wait until a consultation to see if your insurance covers the procedure. You can call them and ask them if they cover it. The CPT(procedure code) code you need to give them is 43770. Even if they don't cover lap band surgery you should still find out if bariatric surgery is covered at all. There are some great threads here if you need go to battle with your insurance company to get covered. I hope you are covered!

Hey Tabitha, I was banded on May 1st. Fortunately for me, I havn't hit any serious plateaus yet but, I have a lot to loose and I am sure they will come. We have a "may 2006 band crew" monthly thread and it has been amazing to see all of the different experiences each individual has. You are definately not the only May Bandster who is struggling. Her is a link to our current thread: http://lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=21691 There are a few of us who use Sparkpeople.com. I found it much easier to use than Fitday and it is free. You can download reports for your nutritionist or even have her access the website while you have your phone consultation. My nutritionist is is thrilled with the information I have been able to provide for her and is also really impressed with the website. Donna is right though, whether you use Fitday, Sparkpeople or some other way, it is important to track what you are eating. After a while you start to see trends and learn what works and what doesn't. What kind of things do you eat in a typical day? How many calories, Protein grams, fats, carbs etc. are you getting? There are a lot of really knowledgable people on this site and maybe if you post some of this information, someone might be able to suggest some useful changes. Anyway, good luck! I know this is hard--especially when the scale isn't moving!

Well I guess you must have found it. I just called there to confirm there that I had the right number before posting and the girl said she had just talked to you. I don't know any of any other fill centers around here. You might try calling Fill Center USA to find a center that uses fluro that is a bit closer for you.

Happy Monday moring everyone!

Hi Idahobeauty, I'm Linda from Eagle. It's nice to see someone else from the area on here. If you are interested in meeting some others there is a Idaholapbanders group on Yahoo. We do monthly Soup nites and are meeting at PF Changs at Bodo on Thursday at 6:30. There are some who come who have been banded for several years and we usually have a pretty good time. Photonut comes sometimes but I don't think she is this month. PM me if you have any more questions. I went with Dr. Anderson for my surgery. I absoutely love him and, unlike Susan (P'nut) I had a really good experience at St. Al's. Keep us posted on your journey!

Justduckie, Thanks for the pictures. It's nice to put another face to a name. I'm glad you had a great vacation. Three pounds is actually pretty good! I can gain that over a weekend if I don't make good food choices so I'm pretty impressed!

Oh, Donna how I know what you are going through. My husband and I have a 10 year old son (a true miracle that he and I both survived my pregnancy) and we have talked off and on for years about adoption. Private adoption is not an option for us because we just don't have the financial means to make that possible and until the last year or so, while we would never even consider divorce, our marriage has been fraught with conflict including how to parent the one child we do have. I now feel we have a very stable and loving home and could offer much to a child who needs one but I am still plagued with questions and doubts. Could I love this child like my own - especially if there are behavioral problems along the way? Would the conflict over child-raising start all over again? Could I handle raising another child while homeschooling the one I have? Do I really want to go back to a life that is very tied down with a young child (we would probably try to adopt a toddler) and give up the freedom we have now that our son is older? What if the parents got their act together or another relative surfaced and we lost the child? I battle all of these questions and yet, when I read your post my heart skipped a beat and I thought "Oh my how I wish that would happen to us!!!" I think I would feel that that child was sent to us from God! Raising a child is one of the most frustrating, heart-wrenching, time consuming, life-giving experiences I have ever known. It is also one of the most rewarding! Children truly are a gift from God and what an amazing opportunity you have been given. As far as your age, you are definately not too old! You still have a long life ahead of you and if you should go through with this, you will probably live to enjoy your grandchildren. So, keep considering the questions, pray a lot (if you are the praying kind), talk to the child's case worker, talk to your family, and, ultimately, do what you think is the right thing for your family.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! That sounds good. I have not tried freezing the coffee before. I think I would need to dilute the coffee then freeze the cubes because my regular ice always dilutes mine too much as it melts. -
Carl's Jr. Chicken Club Lettuce Wrap (hold the mayo and bacon)
LindaV posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi All, I ran some errands today with out thinking about the last time I ate--what a mistake! About an hour into my two hours of errands I was starving and grumpy! I wound up at Carl's Jr. and decided to try their chicken Club wrapped in lettuce instead of the bun. I had them hold the bacon and mayo as well so the sandwich had about 3.5 oz (my estimation) of chicken breast coated with a thin layer of bbq sauce, a slice of swiss cheese and tomato. The iceberg lettuce was great because it added quite a bit of moisture and crunchiness to the sandwich which made the chicken go down quite easily. Anyway, when I got home and logged my sandwich on sparkpeople.com (awesome free website if you havn't tried it) I was amazed to see what a great choice I had made! According to sparkpeople my chicken club lettuce wrap was about 180 calories, 27 grams of Protein, 5 grams of fat, and 4 carbs. Wow, stats like that and it was delicious as well! -
Its me again! I posted this on the "food" forum but I thought I would let you all in on my new fast food favorite! I got my first job at 16 mucking out stalls in a stable. I loved it and the perks that went along with it i.e. free riding and lessons! It was definately hard, hard work. I first started gaining weight after I quite that job and switched to a fast food joint!

Patsy - Conratulations on the good restriction. It makes all the difference! Well, I've decided to change my September Challenge goal. Knowing I have to check in here weekly really makes a difference for me during the week and since I only have 5 more pounds to lose I don't want to coast the rest of the way into September. So, my new goal is to be 250 lbs by my birthday which is September 15th. Wow, I can't even believe that number is within reach. I havn't seen it in over 10 years.

Well, I managed to move my fill date up to next Wednesday. I can't wait. It is a little discouraging to know that I still cave in to temptation so easily when it comes to food. My ultimate goal is to get to a place where I have a very healthy emotional relationship with food and don't even need the help of the band to lose or maintain. Obviously I still have a ways to go. Thank goodness I have the band to help me along the way! Anyway, here are my stats for the September Challenge! After gaining 3 pounds over the weekend, I thought I was going to post no loss but I somehow managed to drop 3 pounds yesterday! S 276 / C 260 / G 255 (-2 this week, -16 total) 5 more pounds to go! Take care and have a great week everyone.

I track not only my points but my grams of protein per day to make sure I get enough. That is the only draw back with WW. I can eat within my points and easily not get enough protein.

The "I truly have no shame" PB question
LindaV replied to Wheetsin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You can buy papaya enzymes at GNC or other healthfood stores. Some grocery stores even carry them. I get good results with them sometimes and sometimes I PB anyway! I at least think they're worth keeping on hand just in case. -
to cancel my fill appointment on Friday. I swear my restriction has lessened each day and now my doctor is on vacation and I can't see him until September 1. Oh well, I just need to follow my own advice and eat more fruit and vegetables. I knew how to lose weight before being banded and I can do it now. The band just makes it easier, not effortless by any means. Ok, enough crying and on with my life! :nervous

I eat rice cakes and popcorn on a regular basis and they don't bother me at all. In fact, for me, they tend to go through pretty quickly so I can eat a lot of them so I have to be careful.

Funny...Hurry and get your new computer! We miss you and I don't know how many days until Christmas anymore!!!!!!!!!! :cry

Hey K@t, I feel like that when I am dehydrated! Are you getting in enough water/fluids? I can't wait for the nice fall weather!
