Yeah, I try to sneak up on the scale as lightly as I can! I do make sure my toes are in the same place every time just to be sure. I used to know just where to stand on my old scale to insure the lightest weigh-in.
-
I have a WW scale that I love. It consistently weights me about 1 pound more than my doctor's scale but it is consistent. There are still days thought when I am ready to break it in half I get so mad at it. Hmmmm--it seems my anger may be misplaced!

Hi Sally, I think we all have or had those fears. I felt like the band was my last hope and was terrified I would be the one it didn't work for. I found that going to the Before and After Pictures thread usually helped. To actually see the before, during and after pictures was really inspiring and gave me a lot of hope. Of course, being as educated as you can before surgery and knowing how to work with your band helps as well. Make a plan and stick to it and you will do fine. Good luck with your surgery, welcome to LBT and keep us posted!

It is curable but because he was diagnosed so late the doctors told his dad that he had probably a 60% chance of survival if he can get a bone marrow transplant. The chances drop to 40% if a donor can't be found. Right now they are not even sure he will survive even if a donor is found. It's a terrible and often fatal desease. The tests and treatments are painful and horrible. It requires regular bone marrow biopsies and spinal taps not to mention killing all of your own marrow so it can be replaced with healthy marrow.

Hi Everyone, I think this is a great thread that I should probably visit more often but here I am with a request for prayer. Isaiah, a nine year old friend of my son, was just diagnosed last week with aml lukemia. Apparently it is often seen in children and the prognosis is not very good since the cancer was pretty advanced when they caught it. He started chemo this week. I guess the hope is to eventually do a bone marrow transplant. Hopefully his sister will be a match because Isaiah is hispanic and I guess it can be difficult to find a doner. Anyway, he is dealing with infections in his small intestine and lungs due to his compromised immune system. Right now the infections are not life threatening but could become so. They are continuing with the chemo because he will surely die if they don't. This is a truly heart-breaking situation for everyone involved. Please pray for Isaiah, his dad Ryan and his sister Maddy. To complicate matters even more, his mother is homeless and mentally unstable but continues to spend a lot of time at the hospital which is not always helpful and always stressful. Her name is Belinda and she needs prayer as well. Thank you to the many LBT faithful! I will update when I hear something.

Got my second fill today and something weird happened!!!!
LindaV replied to housecatgirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Paint that watermelon black and your avatar will look just like Cleopatra! I wouldn't worry too much. .7 cc is actually a pretty significant fill. I know it can be a frustrating wait to get to good restriction. Hang in there! It will come! -
If you don't want to be offended then DO NOT open this thread. You have been warned!

Wow, you learn something new everyday. I did not know what that little triangle was for until now. Thanks, Alexandra! -
I was just able to put my wedding ring on last week for the first time in about 8 years!!!!!!!!!!
-
Hey Susan, the reason the lotion smelled so funny was because it was body wash. I made the mistake of rubbing my eye on the way home and practically had to pull over!
-
I'll help you study next time--or I'll help you find a way to cheat!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Thanks P'Nut. I had a great time too! and just to set the record straight, I can verify that P'Nut does indeed wear size 14 jeans! She looks great!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Ok Cheryl, I remember you and your mom! You only have a few weeks to go before being banded. It sound like you're doing great on the pre-op diet. Good luck and keep us posted. And Susan...You should have studied! ;P

Hey ladies, cool it. I think there are people here on LBT who would love to see this thread shut down just because of who started it! I don't want to see that happen and I am sure none of you other regulars do either so take it to PM's and don't take the bate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I remember you! I think you sat across from me! Do you have longish dark hair? I was the one trying to find out who left the Starbucks Water container from the previous month and the one who got a little annoyed with the "oh so happy" lady who was sitting (I think) a little to your left. I think I might have suggested she uses here band as a"crutch." I don't know what got into me that night! Anyway, again welcomet to LBT! It's nice to have some more people from the area. Will you be at the next support group? I'm planning on it.

How long did it take for your fill to loosen up?
LindaV replied to Paulax's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Paula, I think it is different for everyone and I think it depends on the amount of fat in your stomach organ. If you have a fatty organ you will lose the fat there as well and will need more fills and visa-versa. Mine must be pretty fatty. I can start feeling a difference in about 5 pounds and definately need an adjustment by 10 or 15 pounds! In fact, I'm going for a desperately needed adjustment in about an hour! -
And lets stay there please! Here are my stats for the week: H 315/ J 299/ G 170/ C 259 (-56 total, -1 this week)

I am tempted to buy one just to see what she has to say but I really don't want to encourage her :heh: I also go a chuckle out of one of her other sale items--a book entitled "How to Start, Build, and Market a Debt Free Business." <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <tbody><tr><td valign="top"></td> <td align="center" valign="top"> </td></tr></tbody> </table>

Hey Malice, I discovered that it is the food commercials that are what make me hungry when I watch tv. We invested in a TIVO so now I rarely watch "live television." I TIVO the show I want to watch and forward throught those horrible food commercials! I am actually surprised at how much this has helped with those sudden cravings.

Lana Ruth - The Chinese chicken salad will stay good for 3 or 4 days in the fridge. The noodles soak up the dressing and get soft by the next day but I like it like that. I just keep some the ingredients around and some dressing (which will stay for at least a week in the fridge) and I make myself a single meal portion when I feel like it for lunch. Tonight I didn't have enough sugar so I substituted Splenda for half the sugar and it was still delicious! I wouldn't try to eat this one until you are on solids. Maybe try it first with canned chicken as it is usually pretty tender. Elizabeth - I love tilapia. However the last time I tried to bake some it stuck to the foil and was so dry I could hardly choke it down. I am looking forward to trying your recipe. Nana - I guess you can start trying some of these yummy suggestions tomorrow! Although M&C sounds pretty good to me right now! :biggrin1:

Sorry Donna no help here--I delete!

Bettina, My doctor trusts my judgement on whether or not I need a fill; I trust his judgement on how much of a fill to give me. So far it's been a win-win situation! That is a great question to ask your surgeon about before being banded. Even with little restriction I still tend to lose because I eat more lower calorie foods like vegetables to fill me up. He knows that I know how much I should be eating and when I tell him my portions are getting too big he gives me a fill.
-
I'm making Chinese Chicken Salad for dinner for my family. It contains shredded cabbage, ramen noodles, broken and toasted with almond slivers and sesame seeds, and chicken breast peices. The dressing is made of equal parts of seasoned rice vinegar, sugar and olive oil. It's a light and tasty meal and great on a super hot day like today (at least 100 degrees here in Idaho).

Hey Cloe, It was nice to see you check in with the May Bandsters! To answer your question, I was on Claritin before my Surgery and my surgeon didn't have any problems with it. I switched to liquid Zyrtec because the Claritin pill was huge and couldn't be crushed. That would be my only concern about taking Claritin. I am not sure if I could get a pill that big down even now. The funny thing is that after losing about 30 pounds I no longer need to take any allergy meds. Weird!
