Justducky - UTI's are painful at worst, annoying at best! I hope you feel better soon! Stitchy - Hang out here for a while. We definately keep the drama to a minimum and our drama has to do with our bands/life/triumphs etc., not like the other LBT drama going around. DrewsLou - I hope your port isn't leaking. Have you scheduled a fill under fluro yet? I'm hoping for the best for you! Ousooner - Your weight loss is such an inspiration to me! Keep up the great work!

Well the peeing/spitting/stepping "lightly" on the scale ritual hasn't worked for me this past week. I only lost 1 pound. Oh well, it's better than gaining. :phanvan My personal goal for September is to be 250 by my birthday on 9/15. I'm not sure if I will make it. Definately not if the scale keeps creeping down like it has been the last couple of weeks. The bright side is that I am sure I will make 250 even if I don't hit it by my birthday. That's the beauty of the band--it fills me with hope!!!!!!!!! S 276 / C 258 / G 250 (-1 this week, -18 total) Congratulations again to Janey for hitting her September goal.

Well you now, every ounce counts--ummm, maybe micro-ounce:P

I'll be in California the weekend of October 14th but the rest of the month is free and clear!

I know it's stupid, but I always pee, then spit in the toilet for luck before I weigh myself--first thing in the morning and before I shower of course! I also step on the scale as "lightly" as I can. LOL. It's rediculous I know--but, it's my little ritual!

I am planning on posting pics when I hit my September goal of 250. I havn't taken any pictures of myself since before surgery. It should be interesting--I'm hoping side by side pictures show me what the mirror doesn't. All the mirror shows me is my ever increasing turkey neck! "Gobble Gobble"

Hi Mari, Welcome to LBT! This is a great site for information. To answer some of you questions: 1. I don't feel my band at all. I know it is present if I have overeaten, eaten too quickly or not chewed well enough because their is discomfort or even pain then. But, I don't actually feel the band inside my body. 2. I can feel my port when I press on it. 3. My physical activities were only limited during the healing phase and that was only for a few weeks. The port is sutured into the abdominal muscles so that can remain tender for a bit longer and can cause discomfort if those muscles are "pulled". 4. The emotional adjustment has not been too difficult for me. I was not a big emotional eater--just a big eater-- and the band has stopped that. I know for others that has been a much bigger issue to tackle and I'm sure you will get more feedback from some of them. Good luck to you on your journey and keep us posted!

Hey Diane, I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. If all went according to plan, you should be through your second surgery by now and on the road to recovery. Let us know how you are when you get a chance.

Well, we were all banded in the same month and most of us active May Bandsters all seem to be needing and getting fills at the same time. I got my 3rd fill last Wednesday. I really count it as my second because my first one did not get me to restriction. Anyway, my doctor gave me another .5 cc which I thought was a pretty significant amount. And it turns out--IT WAS! I am definately more restricted than I have been in the past and I am not sure I like it. I try to get in between 1400-1600 calories a day and 90 g of protein and it has definately been challenging. Yesterday was the first day I did it w/o drinking a protein shake (220 cal) I had enough restriction before so that I couldn't over eat. But I could eat just about anything and didn't have to take really small bites. I am not enjoying having to eat like a real banded person very much. Hopefully my restriction will lesson in a couple of weeks. I'm really thrilled to hear about all the great successes you guys are having with your new restriction. I can't believe some of you have made it this long w/o a fill--THAT'S IMPRESSIVE!! 3Loves - your excitement is contagious! It's always nice to read posts from people who are experiencing SUCCESS and who are really excited about it! It helps motivate me!

I think a salad will be off limits to Cheryl because she is having her surgery on the 11th and dinner and support group is on the 12th. Actually, that's really exciting for you. I'm sure you can't wait. Dawg - I don't know if I would use the words "culinary" and "Applebees" in the same sentence.

Hi Everyone, Thank you all so much for your prayers for Isaiah and his lukemia. I got an update from his dad yesterday and it is mostly good news. There is only one bit of bad news actually and that is that his entire family has been tested and no one was a match for donating bone marrow (the recommended treatment is a bone marrow transplant). The good news is that after two weeks, Isaiah's blood shows now sign of the leukemia and doctors are very encouraged about the way he is responding to chemo so far. Last week he was being fed intravenously because of an infection in his small intentine and he was also showing signs of developing pneumonia but, while these conditions have not dissappeared completely, Isaiah is now eating a band diet and his treatment is continuing. Please continue to keep Isaiah, his dad Ryan, sister Maddy, and mother Belinda (currently homeless and mentally ill but at the hospital daily) in your prayers. Thank you all very much!

Any time, Cheryl!

Well Dawg-- You'll be happy to know that Applebees has a few WW choices on their menu. One of them is kabobs--steak, shrimp or a combo, with rice (I sub potatoes) and broccoli. It's quite tasty and filling! Applebees is definately not Italian. I actually do ok at Italian restaurants, but the mexican ones do me in! I don't like one healthy thing on the menu. Hmmmm...maybe that's because there are no healthy choices on the menu!
-
I think a group of us might go to dinner before the support group next month so we could do both! That way, if support group is bad we will have gotten our support and had some fun at dinner! I think we were talking about going to Applebees.
