The place hasn't been deceided yet, but it will be on the 4th Thursday which is May 24th. Susan (Photonut) or I will let you know where and when in case you want to come. You should post an intro in the "May 2006 Band Crew" thread. There is a growing list of May Bandsters that seems to get longer every day. We do a lot of comparing notes and encouraging one another. Talk to you soon.

    May 2006 Band Crew

Hi May Bandsters, Trip2BeMe - Thanks for understanding-the cheating that is! I have been back on liquids for a couple of days now. It is really hard knowing that some of the people who were banded the same day as me or even after are already on mushies or solids. I am starting to feel hungry now. The liquids just aren't cutting it for me. I have resorted to pureeing up cottage cheese. I justify this by saying that if I were to use a straw, and suck really, really hard, it would fit through :nervous I think I can make it through one more week. I am actually planning on starting mushies next Sunday. It's one day early, but I really think my body is ready now. I had no problem with the solids I did eat that one day. The only problem I seem to have is when I take pills. My doctor told me I could take small pills with water, but, even after cutting an advil into 4 peices, I get a pain in my chest until they go down. Other than that, I am doing well, my energy is back, and I am planning to start water aerobics at the YMCA this week so I will probably have to up my calorie intake a little. I am aiming for between 1000 to 1400 per day. According to my dietician, I burn 1400 calories resting, so staying at or below that, I should be ok! Ok, I've rambled on long enough! Take care all!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hello & Introduction

Hey Tidge, Glad to hear you are feeling better. I have a friend who just left to move to London? My husband's company started in England and he put off going to a their international conference this year so that I can save, save, save and go with him next year. I think it's funny that you found and are posting on an Idaho thread when you are all the way in the UK. When I told people we were moving here, I would usually get responses like Where is Idaho or You're moving where, Ohio? Yes, these were responses from fellow Americans. We aren't generally known for our skill in geography. :kiss Idahoans is what we're called. Or Spuds--Idaho is famous for its potatos! I actually lived in Anaheim, California, right by Disneyland, until a year and a half ago. But, I really love Idaho. The only things missing are beaches and Disneyland, but I wouldn't move back if the opportunity presented itself. Talk to you later!

OMG - A friend, banded last year, after hearing about my horrible slip up yesterday brought me some homemade PUMPKIN SOUP. It is in a word, ...I can't even think of a word...beyone deliscious...beyond savory. I will definately post the recipe once she sends it to me! So...(slurps), back to my soup:hungry:

    May 2006 Band Crew

Hi All, Well, today I am 11 days post op and I feel pretty close to "back to my old self" - minus 29 pounds of course! My incisions have stopped hurting and I can even bend over and pick up my husband and sons socks which they constantly leave laying around with out any port pain. Her is the confessions part: I totally cheated yesterday. I am usually pretty careful to follow doctors orders, but, I had some foods yesterday that, while I tried really hard, I really couldn't even call them mushies. I had about 3/4 of a cup of pasta (DH's restaurant leftovers) for lunch and then the chili I intended to thin and blend up for dinner went from the microwave to my mouth. Luckly, I had no problems. I was pretty digusted with myself last night when I went to bed. I did get a visit from "Aunt Flo" this morning and that explained a lot. My willpower was no match for pms hunger! Today, I am actually grateful that I had my band. Prebanded, I would have consumed 5x that much pasta and chili the day before my period plus much, much more. Anyway, today I am back to liquids and am determined to stay on them for the next 9 days. OH I CAN"T WAIT FOR MUSHIES!!!!!!!!!:hungry:

    So scared that somthing's wrong

Hi Hamu, Nausea this time of year can be caused by allergies if you have Fluid build up in your inner ear. I didn't even know I had allergies unitl I saw my pcp for the dizziness and nausea I was experiencing? Pregnancy can also cause this...
  11. I don't know about you guts, but those darn things call to me from the trash can. I have to either throw them in with the dog droppings or put them down the disposal where I can't dig them out and open them!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm certainly glad to here I am not alone in this addictive vice.

Hi Scout and anyone else about to be banded - I woudl suggest you also add something like Chloraseptic Throal Spray to your list of things to buy. I got a tickly in my throat a few days post op , started coughing and OH THE PAIN! :omg: Luckily we had Chloraseptic spary up stairs and a few sprays of that numbed my throat and solved the problem. It's happened a couple of times since so I keep the spray handy.

Hi May Bandsters, justduckie - Your welcome! I have heard of people signing exercise contracts and if it works - great!! I have been trying to walk at least 30 minutes a day. That's about all I can do because if I do anything else, my port site bothers me. I bent over too quickly the other day and felt like I relocated my port. OUCH! I can get in a pool next week so I might try the water aerobics I like doing. marianneTN (sp?) - welcome to bandland!!!!!!!!!!!!! You picked a good month go get band and a great group of people to get banded with! 3Loves - I like the Dannon Frusion. I know they have a lot of calories, but, right now, I am still not getting in more than 1000 calories a day so I feel like I need the calories. I usually have 2 protein drinks a day (1 scoop ON Whey Protein + 1 cup nf milk), 1 smoothie, and some kind of soup. With the water, that's about all I can take in a day. Luckily, the provein drinks + milk give me 32g of protein per shake so I get at least 64g of protein a day. Karma2 and everyone else getting banded today - GOOD LUCK and my prayers are with you! Despite the difficulties, this is an exciting adventure to be on.

Hey Justduckies, I was banded on the 1st and I saw my surgeon today. The reason for the liquid diet is because you stomach muscles don't have to work to digest it. It just passes right through to your intestines to be absorbed. Mushy and soft food, even chewed well, cause you stomach muscles to have to work. Since your band is still healing into place, you should try to make it as easy on your stomach as possible. I have been able to get most things (even meatloaf and mashed potatoes) thin and smooth (like cooked cream soup) when I blend them with liquid. When I can get the taste of the food, I don't feel so deprived. My doc has me on liquids for 3 weeks. I am so sick of yogurt smoothies and Protein shakes, but, the up side of the liquid diet is more rapid eight loss. Good luck!

    Hello

Hey Bayougirl, I'm from Idaho and I am 9 days post op. Before I saw my sergeon, I ran across a thread on this site about questions to ask when considering getting a lap band. If you go to General Lap Band Discussion it is a thread entitled " Some Questions to ask about LAPBAND" Or you can just do a search for that title. I hope this helps. Good luck.

    May 2006 Band Crew

Hello All, Well, I had my 1st post op appointment. I am down about 12 pounds since surgery - 28 all together. My energy is returning slowly but surely. A trip to the grocery store for food for the rest of my family put me in kind of a funk yesterday which the scale helped me out of this morning. Even though I'm not really hungry, I do miss chewing food.:tired Hey Hippo's Hope - what other procedures did you have done? Are you up for slow walking yet? I am trying to get out and walk a little each day. I usually do it in the morning when I seem to have the most exercise. I'll pm you with my phone number if you want to walk, talk or just want some company. I am so glad to hear that all the people banded in May so far seem to be doing so well.

    Post Your Skinny Dream Clothes

I know it sounds stupid, but, I have always wanted to by a pair of denim overall shorts and be able to look sporty and cute. I have, of course, never even been able to find them in my size. I'm not sure I'l even be able to look "sporty and cute" anymore at almost 42, but I would settle for looking decent. Anyway, that is my dream outfit.

Gone for Good Club - May 2006

Ok, so I've given up on the May challenge. I had my surgery on the 1st! What was I thinking!!!!!!!! The bright side is that I am looking forward to weighing in on Wednesday. With so little food (mostly going right through me), I am bound to post a pretty good loss.

    diaminlil

diaminlil, Oh how I understand how you feel! I was so afraid to get my hopes up especially where my insurance was concerned. Luckily, my insurance approved me, but, I have read a lot of posts here from people who have gone to war with their insurance companies and come out victorious. Good luck !!! I will be rooting and (more importantly) praying for you. Keep us posted on your journey!
