    What was your “Moment” ?

Thank you so much. You are so sweet. It's a long journey, but it is a journey that will give me back my life.

    What was your “Moment” ?

My "aha moment" was when I was diagnosed with Lymphedema, which is an accumulation of lymph fluids in the body. Mine was not only in my legs, but also my trunk area. The lymph fluid would not drain and it created a "lymphatic load" in the apron portion of my stomach and it had started to hang down between my legs/knees, which was making it difficult to walk. I decided there was no way I could live like that. The rest is history.
  3. I really like the Quest protein shakes. The salted caramel is my favorite flavor.

    50 and over crowd?

I was 55 when I had my RNY in April 2024. I’m still losing and did not have any issues or pain.

    Mexican Food

My favorite thing to order in a Mexican restaurant is the grilled chicken. I also order some cheese dip to dip my pieces into.
  6. This is a great way to look at your goal weight. I too, feel like I had so much to lose, that putting a final number on it seems unrealistic. I started out at 500 pounds and am down to 250 now, but I'm going to follow your very good advice and ride the ride and see where I get to in my final weight.
  7. Thank you so much for your thoughtful response. I try to stay around 1,000 calories per day at one year out. Some days are higher in calories while some days are lower. My best days are when I'm measuring/weighing my portions and writing in my food journal. Otherwise, for me, I feel like I give myself permission to eat more and that is what got me where I was before surgery. So, I'm changing my thinking from an obesity mindset to a growth mindset, and using all the tools available to me. So, thank you very much.
  8. Do you mind me asking, How many calories did you eat each day while you were losing?
  9. You're welcome. I hope the one year mark is true for you too.
  10. The pain I felt was my tailbone hurting so bad when I was sitting down. My surgeon's practical nurse said that everyone gets this after surgery, but my primary care physician ordered a CT and found Multilevel spondylosis, which is a degenerative disease that impacts your spine. I'm more than one year out now and the pain has subsided, which may be because of the weight loss.
