  1. Hi! I am almost 1 year out from VSG surgery. I am a little over 100 lbs down. It is getting really really hard to stay between 900-1200 calories a day. I am 6ft tall and have a large frame. Staying under 1200 calories has me starving. Lol. It is so hard not to eat at least to 1500. Any tips and tricks? Foods that fill but don't have much calorie wise? Please help!!!! My doc and nutritionist haven't been much help. They don't see how I am as hungry as I tell them I am.
  2. I am almost one year out from VSG. I am down 100ish pounds and am hovering around 225. My goal is 170-180. I, too, am struggling with continued weight loss. I feel hungry all the time. It's probably a lot of head hunger, I've been told, but I am almost never satiated. Uughh. The guilt when I go over my daily calories kills me. 🙃 My one year appointment is coming up soon and I'm afraid I will weigh about the same as my previous appointment. You aren't alone. Just keep going. Maybe change up your diet a little bit. Maybe increase cals? In my case, I feel like my body is happy with my current weight, but I'm not, so its a struggle from here on out. Lol.

One year out and hungry all the time

I am a bio woman, just a big, tall one. Lol. I definitely need to eat more veggies. I am guilty of grabbing a few pieces of beef jerky, a handful of nuts, and some cheese cubes for lunch. My boyfriend calls it my "Confederate lunch". (I live in Alabama). Ha. I have tried the shiritaki noodles. They are pretty good with a little seasoning or sauce. I went through a phaze where I ate them daily with some veggie "meatballs". Then got bored. I do that with food. Get bored. I do think I may need to see an outside nutritionist. I think the one I see at my surgeon's isn't very thorough. I will try broth. I have some powdered variety left from when I first had surgery. It should still be good. Thanks for the input!!!!

One year out and hungry all the time

Well, I have low energy sometimes. I'm at 225 right now. My goal is 170-180. I guess it could be some "head hunger", but I also have spells that seem to me to be hypoglycemia. Also, my stomach growls and I feel sickish. Idk. If it is "head hunger", do you have any tips for getting through it? My psych suggested sipping a warm drink when hunger hits. I'm not a warm drink fan, but have tried herbal tea a few times. I just feel like my weight is coming off so slowly now. Like a pound every 2 weeks. At this rate, I will never reach my goal. I do exercise at least 3 or 4 days a week. I try my darnedest to stay under 1200. But, there are lots of days where I go over and the guilt murders me.
  6. Hi. I am almost 7 months post op. I have lost around 100 lbs. I need to lose 50 more to reach goal weight. My weight loss is at a stall for about 2 weeks. Do y'all count whole carbs or net carbs? I emailed my nutritionist, but haven't heard back from her. I want to know what has worked for my fellow sleevers and other weight loss surgery people. I use My Fitness Pal and it automatically does net carbs. They told me to stay under 50g carbs/day, but I'm wondering if counting net carbs instead of whole is affecting my weight loss. Also, what have y'all done to break a stall? Thanks!!!!!!!

Whole carbs or net carbs? How to break a stall?

This whole time I have been counting net carbs. And it has worked so far, but I have just been trying to figure out how to start my weight loss back up. My nutritionist finally emailed me like 10 minutes ago. She says that I should count whole carbs because counting net carbs may slow weight loss. So, I will try it her way and see what happens. I just also worry about getting enough fiber. I have to take Benefiber as is. I just feel like now I will be really more limited in what I can eat and it makes me sad. Lol.
  8. Hello. I had my sleeve surgery on 3/27. My incisions have healed well, but I am still experiencing really bad burning and pulling pain when bending, reaching, etc. I can't lay on my right side and laying on my left side is sometimes uncomfortable. Bending over is a no go. It's incredibly painful. So, anyone have a similar experience? I'm kind of worried something is messed up with my internal sutures. My doctor said they take 2 to 3 weeks to dissolve and here it is week 4.
  9. I'm allergic to adhesive too. They didn't put any bandages on me after my sleeve surgery. Just skin glue. Hopefully they will do that for you also.
  10. I appreciate all the assurance. I guess I just misunderstood the healing time as explained by my surgery team. I had my gallbladder removed and a complete thyroidectomy in the past and don't remember either being this painful.
  11. Hi. I had VSG on 3/27. I weighed 335 at my first doctor visit and lost 19 pounds presurgery. Anyways, I have been reading on here and I'm worried that my doctor should have recommended bypass vs. sleeve since I have so much weight to lose. He set my goal at 170. That's nearly 150 pounds. I haven't found anyone in here that has lost that much with sleeve. Am I worrying needlessly?

    Worried I won't lose enough

Thanks for all the words of encouragement. 🤗. I am going to try my hardest to stick to my plan and hopefully in a year I will be able to say the same as some of y'all.
