Yes, as I stated... he provides the very best of care. Thanks for the tip... perhaps I'll try his Boilingbrook office. Althought the only time I could make it there is on an off day or on a weekend. Again, thank you so much for the tip.

When I went for my 1st fill with Dr. Shayani; I was required to pay the $500 initial fee and then a seperate fee for the fills - I mentioned that, because I read in an above quote that you'd need to pay this fee if you had your surgery out of the country... I had mine in Detroit. This doctor has an awesome bedside manner and provides excellent guidance. I've had several fills with him. The problem for me is that my fills only work a couple of days afterwards. It could be because I tense up during my visits and fill like I can't take in the full amount that he might want to give? He tells me I need to visit for fills more often than I do. Now I am unable to get an appointment for weeks ~~ I am seeking another fill doctor who has more than one day per week open for fills. If not, I will continue trying to eat smaller amounts until I can get an appt.

**YEAH** I admire you... this is just one of many obstacles you will hurdle - this being about the hardest; the rest will be easy for ya!

Encouraging thread; My doc & I set my goal at 160 when I had surgery. I actually felt awesome at 183 / size 14W and probably got too relaxed - cause many who didn't know I had the surgery were commenting that I'd lost plenty enough weight & that I should lose more. Anyway, I've gained 10+ pounds and now on a mission to at least get to 175 by Christmas, which would make me very happy. I'll continue to read this thread and other positive ones like this for encouragement. Best of Luck, all.

Very motivating thread; Good to read what others are doing. I just started back up with Walk Away the Pounds today and plan to start with 3 to 4 times per week. I do remember when I was consistently exercising, the scale was at a standstill and sometimes went up (muscles)... but I loved how my clothing size was dropping. I've got to do something asap. Good Luck all.

You are encouraging me to do better... you are doing awesome!

Chicago area, India band -- where to go for fills?
Losing 2 replied to Neauzart's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You could contact the Center for Bariatric Surgery at St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields. $500. to begin, then - $160 or so for each fill. -
Self-pay costs of different surgeons.....

This is very good question.. I can tell you after a year out - I still struggle with the guilt of not being honest w/co-workers. I told my family and friends and only 2 folks at work that I truly trust. I so wanted to tell my manager. But I remembered when I first met her over 2 yrs ago and we were both struggling with weight issues, we had a discussion about it because one of our clients talked about it. My manager (10 yrs younger then me) said - you know how many folks have died from that... and on and on. So, I knew I wouldn't be telling her. Although, at times I want to say to her.. see, I didn't die. Anyway, now that I too can no longer sew up my clothes and have now had to purchase from a 22 to a 14W and some 14's:w00t:; I get many folks who never noticed me at the huge facility where I work asking me what I've done. Some I like alot and I don't want to keep lying and have contemplated telling - but knowing if I do, it will spread quickly! So, I continue with telling them almost everything I'm doing except for the surgery. Folks are just too judgemental and I know some are talking about me - some say to me, ok.. you've lost enough. Yeah right. I can say to this day - I have NO regrets, not one. Not even the fact that I'm self-pay. Best of luck to all my fellow bandstars.

Well Catherine & Julie.Ann.... I can say I am jealous of both of you!! Keep up the GREAT Work... All Of You!!! -
Hello All, I am planning to go for a fill this Tuesday... last one didn't do any good. I couldn't hold what he tried to input, so it wasn't really a fill and by the next week - I was eating whatever I wanted again. Anyway, I'd like to get back on the right path. So, send me your breakfast ideas (easy ones - to eat at my desk). Thanks!

Praying for both Mom & Baby and I'm believing they will be just fine with your love and your son's love. Many are praying now that you've posted - all won't post... but prayers are certainly going forth! Be Blessed

It is awesome to hear how well everyone is doing! This is a great thread! These are my NSV's: *Shoes are too big (had to go shoe shopping) *None of my previous clothes, coats, undies fit - have given bags & bags to Salvation Army, etc. (have gone clothing shopping numerous times) *No longer feeling like a sausage while riding on the plane! YEAH.. *Eye glasses no longer worked for me (the progressive lens moved).. my face/neck are way much smaller (had to get new glasses). *No longer sleeping with CPAP & am getting a full nights sleep! YEAH! *Can walk/run on the treadmill for a much longer length of time (although I need to get on much more) *I purposely find reasons to take the stairs at work several times per day. I just feel sooooo much better about myself!! -

I took 2 weeks (only because I had vacation time). Could have probably gone back in a week. It's more from being tired. Just be careful not to over do it. Best of luck to you!! -

KarenK / JulieAnn ..... You Are Rockin'!!! Congrats!! Everyone is doing so very well! Yeah! -
I called all around the place. Colorado for $9950 was my very first choice. I added up a flight from Chicago for myself and another - 2 nights hotel and it was going to be very well worth it. The folks there were sooooo very nice! The only thing was - they only took one of my financing options [surgeryloans.com] and it fell through - my fault there. Even tho.. surgeryloans is a really great and very easy option. In my area, the self pay cost was $17,5k to $24k. So, I drove three hours to Michigan for $10,5k. Well worth getting it done, using careone credit. After having called 10-12 places around the globe, I received many quotes from places and when I asked them if they could do any lower of a price - I was ALWAYS given the true story of how much they will charge an insurance company - anywhere from $25 to $30k +. So, getting the surgery done for under $20 is actually a real deal. But, it never hurts to call, call and call and try. It is soooo very worth it. Best of luck to you.

? For those not telling ppl being banded
Losing 2 replied to carbgrl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I sort of worried about my co-workers asking me questions about the liquid diet.... but guess what - no one did. I was all ready to say that I was getting serious about jump staring my weight loss. But, it never happened. Now that I am no longer tied to shopping in women's section only... It would have worth whatever I had to go through! I never really have lunch with a group anyway - and if I did - I'll tell you that the way I feel about my health right now would have been worth turning down all lunch invites, anyway. You will certainly not regret 'just saying no' and turning around and drinking your liquids - it's soooo worth it! -
Out Patient or overnight stay?
Losing 2 replied to WDW Luver's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Before I made my choice, I called at 10-12 lapband offices / centers and each had different options from a couple of hours stay at a surgical center, to an overnight stay in the hospital. I had an overnight stay at a hospital - glad to have had the overnight option; however, I could see how I could easily have gone home in a few hours and rested very well for several days. Best of Luck! -
