  1. I agree, the office staff at ColoradoRockies is awesome and absolutely patient! I was originally scheduled there for 10/29 - had to cancel when I couldn't find local fills and couldn't honestly commit myself to going back & forth for fills. Once you speak with his coordinator, you'll be convinced you are at the right place. There is even a whole group of folks on these forums who to to him and return for all fills. Good Luck & Continued Success to You!
  2. CONGRATS TO EACH OF YOU! YOU MUST BE SOOOO EXCITED:biggrin:... CAN'T WAIT TIL I CAN SAY THE VERY SAME! Good Luck & Continued Success to each of You!
  3. Well, I was all set to go... approved by Dr. Cahill & approved for my loan. I was all set to start my liquid diet this Friday & have surgery on Oct. 2nd. Received a late email from the loan specialist and there was a small problem with my loan that I won't be able to rectify very soon. Not sure why they didn't explain all of this to me sooner... but, here I go - I'm back on a roller coaster. The more I think about, I might really wait and change health insurance again this year. I keep changing and running into road blocks. If things don't work out with this loan - I am going to read each and every Federal Employee Health Benefit plan that comes out in November! This time, I hope I can spot one that will cover me for this surgery without needing to jump through the hoops of the insurance game. Continued to success to all of you!!
  4. I have found every facility I've dealt with to have a different policy on the pre-op diet. All have had the same post-op. One place was going to have me do 1 wk. Atkins style diet to shrink my liver; another told me I'd do a full two week liquids w/2 slim fast or other protein drinks; the next says depending on your BMI, you'd do 1 or 2 wks liquids. I too would do exactly as told by the individual center. Good Luck
  5. It is my sincere prayer that there is NO slip. Be well, you & your DH.

    Self-pay

Hello, is anyone able to share prices for self-pay of lapband? I was able to find out the cash pay amount for Midwest bariatric in Chicago. But everywhere I've been calling in Illinois - is quite expensive. And am thinking of trying careone GE credit to finance. Just trying think my options through.

    October issue of Essence

Hmm.. I've gotta pick up that issue for sure. I remember seeing something about getting ready to go healthy about a year ago. More power to her and I hope she keeps it off. I have so many before & after and after & before pics that I'm just tired. I know all of the diets and exactly how to do them like the diet-pro that I am. But... I need this lapband to help me to make a total lifestyle change. I just know it! Good luck on your appointment!!
  8. Hi all - this is repost from the financing forum. I was hoping to get your input on this as well if anyone is from Chicago area/Indiana...please chime in. ---------------------------- Of course I'm set with Dr. K in Colorado - but, I called all day Thurs & Fri - was unsuccesful in getting someone to accept me for local fills. fillcentersusa is not local for me. So... today, I begin considering going local and paying more. So, I'm posting messages to asking for prices locally (Chicagoland/Indiana). I do have 4 prices here so far. Actually found a couple good prices - just need to know if they will accept my current financing option which is all set and ready. RightWeigh Bariatric in Kentucky charges $12,500 - they also have a location in Indiana - I will call in the morning to see what they charge (hoping its so close to this). Lifeway Bariatrics in Downers Grove & Merriville, IN charge $15,500. Synchronyhealth: $16,000 Midwestbariatrics: $16,211 If any of the lower ones accept my financing and can band me sooner, I'm going to make the switch ASAP to free up that 10/30 date at Dr. K's office.

  10. Yes, pre-op is included with 3 months of fills - $15 fills after 3 months. Thing is, I'll travel back to Colorado for my fills or, TRY to find someone to them locally. So far - no luck with that. So... this weekend, I'm really considering going local and paying more. I cannot NOT do this. This is just not an option. So, I'm getting ready to post a couple of more messages asking for prices locally. I do have 4 prices here so far. Actually found a couple good prices - just need to know if they will accept my financing option that I already have set up. RightWeigh Bariatric in Indiana charges $12,500 (oops, this is the cost in the KY center of RightWeigh) Lifeway Bariatrics in Downers Grove & Merriville, IN charge $15,500. Methodist Weight Loss Center in Peoria (2 1/2 hrs away from me) $12,000 If these places accept my financing and can do it sooner, I'm going to make the switch this week.
  11. I am hoping that you are feeling much better very soon. How long do you plan to be off from work? --------------- I'm all set with Dr. K in Colorado - but, today I have been searching websites trying to get local prices and to get banded even sooner. I appreciate your info. Get Well Very Soon!!
  12. I have been reading a lot on the Illinois forum and wanted to ask if anyone is familiar with an inexpensive fill doctor in the Chicago area. I made an appointment Dr. Kirschenbaum for 10/30 - haven't told DH we'll need to for this (got him to agree with surgery, not telling him the potential location):rolleyes2: Been on the phone trying to find a local and inexpensive fill doctor in Chicago - especially I'm being financed for surgery... I don't need to extra expense of trying to pay $500 for fills! Anyway, I'm excited and nervous all in one. Thanks for any responses.

    Dr. Kirschenbaum in Colorado

Thank you for the suggestion, I've tried their website - they do not have a local office.
  14. Cassy... Congrats on your Sept. 24th Date!!!
  15. Thanks for the info & CONGRATS on being Banded!! How are you doing today? Also, since you were self-pay... was it a quick process? How long did you have to wait for a date, etc.

Here's a link to what is included: Columbia Bariatric Associates
  17. When I first went to see a bariatric/weight loss doc early last year - after our conversation, he suggested a sleep study because I was always exhausted and fall asleep easily no matter where. Yep, sleep apnea - so, I was prescribed a CPAP machine. Ugly, but it gives you a better nights sleep. I've been terrible about wearing it - but, it's a serious illness. Both my sisters have it and only one wears hers everynight. She raves about how well it helps her sleep. Mine is going in this week for recalabration and a new mask... I am committed to doing better, because its needed. You'll be fine, just follow the instructions. Plus, I read that we are hindering our weight loss efforts by not wearing our machine. Your weight will probably begin melting after you get adjusted to it. Good Luck

    Tell us about yourself

Greetings from Chicago! 46 y/o Married Veterans Administration Live in So. Suburbs & work in City I'm self-pay and scheduled with Dr. G. Kirshenbaum - Aurora Colorado since his price is $6k lower than anything here. Even considered Mexico... I'm a bit nervous about how I'll handle fills.. if I'll fly there, or TRY to find someone here who won't charge $500+. That's one thing worrying me. Anyway, I am so tired of all the diets I've tried and succeeded and gained back even more. I am learning vital info reading your posts and am glad to join you here. Am truly struggling with who to tell and not to tell. Not sure I can keep my big mouth shut once I start losing! When I like something... I talk about. Of course my hubby knows, now I've told my sisters and brothers. Put in for vacation at work instead of sick leave. My manager is dead set against the idea - we had a very brief talk about it when she first started working with me. I work with a team of 5 very, very athletic individuals (including her) and I think they wouldn't understand. I'm two seconds from saying, so what. We will see!!
  20. Those are the two financing sources I applied for - did mine online & it was processed and accepted easily.
  21. The count down is so fun to me! Have you had an opportunity to check on their website to see the type of financing they accept? Unless you plan to send them a personal check or using your VISA/MC. As soon as you get a date, they'll send you the info you need for a preop diet. I was told to do an Atkins-style preop - the length of time on this varies... you'll learn the length when you speak with nutritionist a few weeks before surgery.
  22. Magaines... Your Weight Loss thus far is extremely encouraging!
  23. Thank you! My surgery center is inside Parker Hospital it's called Crown Point Surgery Center.
  24. Hello... I finally decided to stop reading post and read Dr. K's website - picked up the phone and talked with his office staff (VERY NICE & INFORMATIVE). I just called last week and was given my date of 10/30. I believe this time will fly by and I'll be banded in no time! I received a ton of info from Natalie [his bariatric coordinator], as soon as I was set with financing, etc. She sent me everything I needed to know to get started. I got my pre-op consult w/Dr. K via phone on 10/6 and will arrive there 10/29 to meet with him at 3pm and surgery the next day at 1pm. DH & I plan to be there for 2 nights. We are flying in and staying at a local hotel (they provide you with many choices at a medical rate). Everyone on this website have provided me with a whole lot of information to help me with this decision and I plan to continue to return for ongoing support. Good Luck
