Self Pay and Denied Financing...Help....
Losing 2 replied to krmamom's topic in Insurance & Financing
Thanks for the info regarding the broth & jello. I purchased a bunch of jello & a few protein drinks. I'll get some broth for sure. I have to follow a one week pre-operative diet: Water or No-cal, Sugar Free, Decaffeinated drinks throughout the day. Protein Drink for breakfast - lunch. Sensible dinner, such as one portion of lean meat, salad with low-cal dressing and a vegetable. One day before surgery - clear liquids for breakfast, lunch, dinner. Clear liquids include; tea, coffee without cream, apple juice, water, broth without noodles, plain jell-o, fruit juice bars (avoid red or purple items). -
Thank you so much for this link!!

GALLBLADDER SURGERY!!:frown: GOOD ONE!! I have spazzing-out about all the folks at work who I would probably have to ignore... including my boss who is dead-set against it (she doesn't know why I took the time off). I am seriously thinking of taking that Gallbladder story and running with it for bit!

I am flipping... so nervous/excited! Thanks for the message, I need it. I'm supposed to start my pre-op on Tuesday. I'll begin on Monday to start fresh for the week. I've picked up some EAS Advantage shakes - I drank a few off and on last week - they were pretty good. Going to Walgreens to pick up a different brand to have. I can have high protein meat, salad/veggies for dinner. Oh boy! We can do this together!
Thanks!

Thanks so much for all of that info! My husband used to live and work in Detroit. He actually worked at the VA hospital there. We both work for the VA in Chicago. Anyway, we are planning to fly in a day ahead and book a hotel somewhere familiar. They told me I'd have one overnight stay at Harper. Glad you sailed on through. What sort of meds did you have to get filled? Were they pain meds? Thanks!! -

CONGRATS TO YOU!!! :bolt: TIME TO START YOUR COUNTDOWN!:tt1: -
Hello!! I'm still checking to see if anyone has been banded at Harper Hospital by Great Lakes Weight Loss team? I've scheduled my band date of 10/7/08 and am so ready to get there to get it done. I'm coming in from Chicago.
-
I am scheduled in Detroit MI (4 hrs from me) with Great Lakes Weight Loss at Harper Hospital and it an overnight stay. I'm self-pay. Glad to have the overnight stay, but I've had enough surgery's to know that I'd do fine even if I had to go home same day. My husband will drive me the 4 hours, but he has many relatives there and we're looking into flying out to give him more time to visit and to give my belly a rest after surgery.... bumps for 4 hrs might not be fun! Even with a colonscopy, you aren't allowed to drive yourself home - it's much better to have a driver. At one of the weight loss centers in Chicago, they offer a limo ride home and I thought that was very nice jesture. I'm hoping you can look into spending a few extra $$ on a cab, friend, co-worker or even a limo. It will be much safer for you. Good luck.

Question for Self-payers of Lap Band
Losing 2 replied to Sooverit!'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was all set to go to Dr. K in Colorado until I started having a problem finding a local fill doctor. I cancelled that and signed up to have it here in Chicago by Dr. Cahill for $16,200 - financing fell through. Now, I'm all set with different financing - am scheduled 4 hrs away at Harper Hospital in Detroit, MI for $10,700. -

Self Pay and Denied Financing...Help....

Did you try CareCredit? You can apply online and they have very low interest rates. I use them for all of my dental care and have been approved for additional funds for lapband - just not enough to cover. They have an easy acceptance (within minutes). I too am now thinking of waiting until 1st of the year. I need to change insurance to one that would cover me without having 5 yr over 40 BMI, supervised diet, etc. I really want it now.... not next year!! Best of luck to you!
