I hit my highest weight at christmas 2007. I weighed 434 and decided enough was enough. I went through the process and had my surgery on 8/27/08. I finally hit restriction in 2/09 although  I think it might be a bit too tight. However 88 pounds down and counting. I am having a  really difficult time getting out of the fat mindset. I haven't ever been  anything but fat...so I don't really know how to take up less space  in the world.
****UPDATE
It's been a minute since I updated anything but here’s the story. My band slipped in 2009 so I had revision surgery to replace it. I gained 90 pounds, then lost 90 pounds again. And then the band slipped again...only I didn’t do anything about it for 4 years after I started gaining weight back slowly. Just over a year ago I decided I DID need to do something and started the process all over again. The band had to come out. Side effect of the malfunctioning band was my esophagus stopped working. I had initially decided on the sleeve but that was no longer an option due to acid reflux and a wonky esophagus.  Gastric bypass seems to be my only option. While I am not entirely confident about my choice due to a lifelong need for anticoagulants, I met with specialists to talk about how to manage it post surgery.

I had the band removed in September 2019. In January 2020 I was ready for surgery and then COVID hit and everything has been on hold until September of this year. So now I’m just a few days from my surgery date of 11/08/20.
