    Drinking before/after eating

I can’t drink for at least 30 minutes and if I try, I just throw up. Tonight I ate some pork roast too fast and I’m paying for it. My fist instinct is to drink but I know I will just throw it all up. So now I have to wait....
  2. Breakfast was yogurt and a clear protein drink. Snack was a protein drink. Lunch was two egg whites with Parmesan cheese. Snack was a cheese stick. I was craving something savory for dinner and tried a few teaspoons of mashed potatoes which just came back up. Now I just feel like hell. I still have to take my night meds so I hope they stay down. The lap band was so different. When I couldn’t tolerate a food I just threw it up immediately. The bypass is so different. It’s like it keeps trying and trying to go down for an hour and then finally it comes back up. I’m learning, eat slowly, chew everything. How did you do today?
  3. Mirilax works for me. I take it about once or twice a week. Also there are stool softeners that come in pill form.
  4. Doing okay. I had one mishap with not chewing peaches well enough. It was awful, hours of throwing up and pain. They aren’t kidding when they say chew well. I am on purée and soft foods but being pretty careful. I hope I never see jello again. 🤢

    divorce

I’m so sorry to hear that. Divorce for any reason is painful. I hope you have good support and surround yourself with people who love you. Sending you healing thoughts. 🥰
  6. How’s it going? I’m 3 weeks post op.

The changes we don't talk about

I share your sentiments. I am extremely tall for a woman so adding big and tall has always reminded me that I take up space in the world. I tend to be fairly shy in person because I am always trying to make myself smaller. I had a lap band 12 years ago and I struggled with body image when i lost a lot of weight. I never threw out my fat clothes and continued to buy clothes that were way too big. my band failed twice before I switched over to the bypass. I have kept it very private but I’m not looking forward to the gushing that will happen by others when they see my progress. I am not in the same place as everyone else with my emotional progress.

    Thanksgiving win

I am on soft foods so I was able to eat 2 ounces of turkey mixed with gravy, a tablespoon of mashed potatoes and a tablespoon of cottage cheese. I didn’t have any issues. Yay!

    Someone help me

I take 20mg of famotadine at bed time and omeprazole in the am.
  10. Oh the irony! After the first few days I was feeling very little pain. I kept telling people it was really an easy surgery given my lack of pain and I could probably go back to work. And then all the swelling went down. Holy moly I absolutely feel like my insides have been rearranged! I have to be so careful when I move certain ways or I’m way over the threshold. Sleep is the worst. I have a fancy sleep number bed that tracks my sleep and it’s been under 70 for the past two weeks! I keep a pillow on my belly when I’m sitting because my cats don’t get it. I take it all back...it was not an easy surgery...ugh.
  11. 2 weeks post op...soft foods start today! Hooray! Down 20 but not dropping as much as I thought I would. I track everything so I’m a bit frustrated.
  12. I challenged my parents to come up with some ideas that I can have...my dad was disappointed that I can’t have pumpkin pie because it’s a soft food. We had a long conversation about sugar content. But I am going to be so happy to see my parents that food will be a second. 😁

    Anyone November 2020

When I had to give up coffee for the pre op diet I was a f-Ing ray of sunshine for days. Irritability is pretty common through the liquid diet phase. Luckily I live alone and didn’t have to deal with food smells, just tv commercials. Your doctors will give you meds for the gas and bloating which will help. I didn’t pass gas for a few days. Even if you pass gas on the plane, you aren’t going to see any of those people again. You’ll be ok. sending positive thoughts 🥰
